Luke 3
1 Nowe in the fifteenth yeere of the reigne of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being gouernour of Iudea, and Herod being Tetrarch of Galile, and his brother Philip Tetrarch of Iturea, and of the countrey of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the Tetrarch of Abilene,
Im fünfzehnten Jahre aber der Regierung des Kaisers Tiberius, als Pontius Pilatus Landpfleger von Judäa war und Herodes Vierfürst von Galiläa, sein Bruder Philippus aber Vierfürst der Landschaft Ituräa und Trachonitis und Lysanias Vierfürst von Abilene,
2 (When Annas and Caiaphas were the hie Priestes) the worde of God came vnto Iohn, the sonne of Zacharias in the wildernes.
unter den Hohenpriestern Hannas und Kajaphas, erging das Wort Gottes an Johannes, den Sohn des Zacharias, in der Wüste.
3 And hee came into all the coastes about Iordan, preaching the baptisme of repentance for the remission of sinnes,
Und er kam in die ganze Umgegend des Jordan und predigte die Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden,
4 As it is written in the booke of the sayings of Esaias the Prophet, which saith, The voyce of him that crieth in the wildernes is, Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make his paths straight.
wie geschrieben steht im Buche der Reden des Propheten Jesaja, der da spricht: «Eine Stimme ruft in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn, machet seine Pfade eben!
5 Euery valley shalbe filled, and euery mountaine and hill shall be brought lowe, and crooked things shalbe made straight, and the rough wayes shalbe made smoothe.
Jedes Tal soll ausgefüllt und jeder Berg und Hügel erniedrigt werden, und das Krumme soll gerade und die rauhen Wege eben werden,
6 And all flesh shall see the saluation of God.
und alles Fleisch wird das Heil Gottes sehen.»
7 Then said he to the people that were come out to be baptized of him, O generations of vipers, who hath forewarned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Er sprach nun zu dem Volke, das hinausging, um sich von ihm taufen zu lassen: Schlangenbrut! Wer hat euch unterwiesen, dem kommenden Zorn zu entrinnen?
8 Bring foorth therefore fruites worthy amendment of life, and beginne not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham.
So bringet nun Früchte, die der Buße würdig sind, und fanget nicht an, bei euch selbst zu sagen: Wir haben Abraham zum Vater! Denn ich sage euch, Gott vermag dem Abraham aus diesen Steinen Kinder zu erwecken.
9 Nowe also is the axe layed vnto the roote of the trees: therefore euery tree which bringeth not foorth good fruite, shalbe hewen downe, and cast into the fire.
Schon ist aber die Axt an die Wurzel der Bäume gelegt. Ein jeder Baum nun, der nicht gute Frucht bringt, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen.
10 Then the people asked him, saying, What shall we doe then?
Da fragte ihn das Volk und sprach: Was sollen wir denn tun?
11 And he answered, and said vnto them, He that hath two coates, let him part with him that hath none: and hee that hath meate, let him doe likewise.
Und er antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Wer zwei Röcke hat, gebe dem, der keinen hat; und wer Speise hat, tue ebenso!
12 Then came there Publicanes also to bee baptized, and saide vnto him, Master, what shall we doe?
Es kamen auch Zöllner, um sich taufen zu lassen, und sprachen zu ihm: Meister, was sollen wir tun?
13 And hee saide vnto them, Require no more then that which is appointed vnto you.
Er sprach zu ihnen: Fordert nicht mehr, als was euch verordnet ist!
14 The souldiers likewise demaunded of him, saying, And what shall we doe? And he saide vnto them, Doe violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages.
Es fragten ihn aber auch Kriegsleute und sprachen: Und was sollen wir tun? Und er sprach zu ihnen: Mißhandelt niemand, erhebet keine falsche Anklage und seid zufrieden mit eurem Sold!
15 As the people waited, and all men mused in their heartes of Iohn, if he were not that Christ,
Da aber das Volk in Erwartung stand und alle in ihren Herzen sich wegen Johannes fragten, ob er selbst vielleicht der Christus wäre,
16 Iohn answered, and saide to them all, In deede I baptize you with water, but one stronger then I, commeth, whose shoes latchet I am not worthy to vnloose: hee will baptize you with the holy Ghost, and with fire.
antwortete Johannes und sprach zu allen: Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; es kommt aber einer, der stärker ist als ich, dem ich nicht gut genug bin, den Riemen seiner Schuhe zu lösen; der wird euch im heiligen Geist und Feuer taufen.
17 Whose fanne is in his hande, and hee will make cleane his floore, and will gather the wheate into his garner, but the chaffe will hee burne vp with fire that neuer shalbe quenched.
Er hat die Worfschaufel in seiner Hand, um seine Tenne durch und durch zu reinigen und den Weizen in seine Scheune zu sammeln; die Spreu aber wird er mit unauslöschlichem Feuer verbrennen.
18 Thus then exhorting with many other things, he preached vnto the people.
Auch mit vielen andern Ermahnungen noch verkündigte er dem Volk die frohe Botschaft.
19 But when Herod the Tetrarch was rebuked of him, for Herodias his brother Philips wife, and for all the euils which Herod had done,
Der Vierfürst Herodes aber, da er von ihm getadelt wurde wegen Herodias, der Frau seines Bruders Philippus, und wegen all des Bösen, was Herodes tat,
20 He added yet this aboue all, that he shut vp Iohn in prison.
fügte zu allem noch das hinzu, daß er den Johannes ins Gefängnis schloß.
21 Nowe it came to passe, as all the people were baptized, and that Iesus was baptized and did pray, that the heauen was opened:
Es begab sich aber, da alles Volk sich taufen ließ und auch Jesus getauft wurde und betete, daß sich der Himmel auftat
22 And the holy Ghost came downe in a bodily shape like a doue, vpon him, and there was a voyce from heauen, saying, Thou art my beloued Sonne: in thee I am well pleased.
und der heilige Geist in leiblicher Gestalt wie eine Taube auf ihn herabstieg und eine Stimme aus dem Himmel erscholl: Du bist mein geliebter Sohn; an dir habe ich Wohlgefallen!
23 And Iesus himselfe began to bee about thirtie yeere of age, being as men supposed the sonne of Ioseph, which was the sonne of Eli,
Und Jesus war ungefähr dreißig Jahre alt, als er anfing zu lehren; und war, wie man meinte, ein Sohn Josephs,
24 The sonne of Matthat, the sonne of Leui, the sonne of Melchi, the sonne of Ianna, the sonne of Ioseph,
welcher war des Eli, des Matthat, des Levi, des Melchi, des Janna, des Joseph,
25 The sonne of Mattathias, the sonne of Amos, the sonne of Naum, the sonne of Esli, the sonne of Nagge,
