Leviticus 11
1 After, the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying vnto them,
Yahweh parla à Moïse et à Aaron, en leur disant:
2 Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say, These are the beastes which yee shall eate, among all the beasts that are on the earth.
« Parlez aux enfants d’Israël, et dites: Voici les animaux que vous mangerez parmi toutes les bêtes qui sont sur la terre:
3 Whatsoeuer parteth the hoofe, and is clouen footed, and cheweth the cudde, among the beastes, that shall ye eate.
Tout animal qui a la corne divisée et le pied fourchu, et qui rumine, vous le mangerez.
4 But of them that chewe the cud, or deuide the hoofe onely, of them yee shall not eate: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, and deuideth not ye hoofe, he shall be vncleane vnto you.
Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui ruminent seulement, ou qui ont seulement la corne divisée. Tel est le chameau, qui rumine, mais dont la corne n’est pas divisée: il sera impur pour vous.
5 Likewise the conie, because he cheweth the cud and deuideth not the hoofe, he shall bee vncleane to you.
Telle la gerboise, qui rumine, mais qui n’a pas la corné divisée: elle sera impure pour vous.
6 Also the hare, because he cheweth the cud, and deuideth not the hoofe, he shalbe vncleane to you.
Tel le lièvre, qui rumine, mais qui n’a pas la corne divisée: il sera impur pour vous.
7 And the swine, because he parteth ye hoofe and is clouen footed, but cheweth not the cud, he shalbe vncleane to you.
Tel le porc, qui a la corne divisée et le pied fourchu, mais qui ne rumine pas: il sera impur pour vous.
8 Of their flesh shall yee not eate, and their carkeise shall yee not touch: for they shall bee vncleane to you.
Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, et vous ne toucherez pas à leurs corps morts: ils seront impurs pour vous.
9 These shall ye eate, of all that are in the waters: whatsoeuer hath finnes and skales in ye waters, in the seas, or in the riuers, them shall ye eate.
Voici les animaux que vous mangerez parmi tous ceux qui sont dans les eaux: Tout ce qui a nageoires et écailles, dans les eaux, soit dans la mer, soit dans les rivières, vous le mangerez.
10 But all that haue not finnes nor skales in the seas, or in the riuers, of all that moueth in the waters, and of al liuing things that are in the waters, they shalbe an abomination vnto you.
Mais vous aurez en abomination tout ce qui n’a pas nageoires et écailles, dans les mers et dans les rivières, parmi tous les animaux qui se meuvent dans les eaux et parmi tous les êtres vivants qui s’y trouvent.
11 They, I say, shalbe an abomination to you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, but shall abhorre their carkeis.
Ils seront pour vous une abomination; vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, et vous tiendrez pour abominables leurs cadavres.
12 Whatsoeuer hath not fins nor skales in the waters, that shalbe abomination vnto you.
Tout ce qui, dans les eaux, n’a pas de nageoires et d’écailles, vous l’aurez en abomination.
13 These shall ye haue also in abomination among the foules, they shall not be eaten: for they are an abomination, the eagle, and the goshauke, and the osprey:
Voici, parmi les oiseaux, ceux que vous aurez en abomination; on ne les mangera pas, c’est chose abominable: l’aigle, l’orfraie et le vautour:
14 Also the vultur, and the kite after his kinde,
le milan et toute espèce de faucons;
15 And all rauens after their kinde:
toute espèce de corbeaux;
16 The ostrich also, and the night crowe, and the seameaw, and the hauke after his kinde:
l’autruche, le chat-huant, la mouette et toute espèce d’éperviers;
17 The litle owle also, and the connorant, and the great owle.
le hibou, le cormoran et la chouette;
18 Also the redshanke and the pelicane, and the swanne:
le cygne, le pélican et le gypaète;
19 The storke also, the heron after his kinde, and the lapwing, and the backe:
la cigogne, toute espèce de hérons; la huppe et la chauve-souris.
20 Also euery foule that creepeth and goeth vpon all foure, such shalbe an abomination vnto you.
Tout insecte ailé qui marche sur quatre pattes, vous l’aurez en abomination.
21 Yet these shall ye eate: of euery foule that creepeth, and goeth vpon all foure which haue their feete and legs all of one to leape withal vpon the earth,
Mais, parmi tous les insectes ailés qui marchent sur quatre pattes, vous mangerez ceux qui ont des jambes au-dessus de leurs pattes, pour sauter sur la terre.
22 Of them ye shall eate these, the grashopper after his kinde, and the solean after his kinde, the hargol after his kinde, and the hagab after his kind.
Voici ceux d’entre eux que vous mangerez: toute espèce de sauterelles, toute espèce de solam, toute espèce de hargol, toute espèce de hagab.
23 But al other foules that creepe and haue foure feete, they shalbe abomination vnto you.
Toute autre bête ailée ayant quatre pattes, vous l’aurez en abomination.
24 For by such ye shalbe polluted: whosoeuer toucheth their carkeis, shalbe vncleane vnto the euening.
Ceux-ci aussi vous rendront impurs: quiconque touchera leur corps mort sera impur jusqu’au soir,
25 Whosoeuer also beareth of their carkeis, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntil euen.
et quiconque emportera quelque partie de leur corps mort lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
26 Euery beast that hath clawes deuided, and is not clouen footed, nor cheweth the cud, such shalbe vncleane vnto you: euery one that toucheth them, shalbe vncleane.
Tout animal qui a la corne divisée, mais qui n’a pas le pied fourchu et qui ne rumine pas, sera impur pour vous; quiconque le touchera se rendra impur.
27 And whatsoeuer goeth vpon his pawes among all maner beastes that goeth on all foure, such shalbe vncleane vnto you: who so doth touch their carkeis shalbe vncleane vntil the euen.
Et parmi les animaux à quatre pieds, tout ce qui marche sur la plante des pieds vous sera impur: quiconque touchera leur corps mort sera impur jusqu’au soir;
28 And he that beareth their carkeis, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntill the euen: for such shalbe vncleane vnto you.
et quiconque portera leur corps mort lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir. Ces animaux seront impurs pour vous.
29 Also these shalbe vncleane to you amog the things that creepe and moue vpon the earth, the weasell, and the mouse, and the frog, after his kinde:
Voici, parmi les petites bêtes qui rampent sur la terre, celles qui seront impures pour vous: la belette, la souris et toute espèce de lézards;
30 Also the rat, and the lizard, and the chameleon, and the stellio, and the molle.
la musaraigne, le caméléon, la salamandre, le lézard vert et la taupe.
31 These shall be vncleane to you among all that creepe: whosoeuer doeth touch them when they be dead, shalbe vncleane vntil the euen.
Tels sont ceux qui seront impurs pour vous parmi les reptiles: quiconque les touchera morts sera impur jusqu’au soir.
32 Also whatsoeuer any of the dead carkeises of them doth fall vpon, shalbe vncleane, whether it be vessel of wood, or rayment, or skinne, or sacke: whatsoeuer vessel it be that is occupied, it shalbe put in the water as vncleane vntil the euen, and so be purified.
Tout objet sur lequel il en tombera de morts sera souillé: ustensile de bois, vêtement, peau, sac, tout objet dont on fait usage; on le mettra dans l’eau, et il restera souillé jusqu’au soir; après quoi, il sera pur.
33 But euery earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoeuer is within it shalbe vncleane, and ye shall breake it.
S’il en tombe quelque chose dans le milieu de tout vase de terre, tout ce qui sera dans le milieu du vase sera souillé, et vous briserez le vase.
34 Al meate also that shalbe eaten, if any such water come vpon it, shalbe vncleane: and all drinke that shalbe drunke in al such vessels shalbe vncleane.
Tout aliment servant à la nourriture et préparé avec de l’eau, sera souillé; toute boisson dont on fait usage, quel que soit le vase qui la contienne, sera souillée.
35 And euery thing that their carkeis fall vpon, shalbe vncleane: the fornais or the pot shalbe broken: for they are vncleane, and shalbe vncleane vnto you.
Tout objet sur lequel tombera quelque chose de leur corps mort sera souillé; le four et le vase avec son couvercle seront détruits; ils seront souillés et vous les tiendrez pour souillés.
36 Yet the fountaines and welles where there is plentie of water shalbe cleane: but that which toucheth their carkeises shalbe vncleane.
Mais les sources et les citernes, où se forment les amas d’eau, resteront pures; toutefois celui qui touchera le corps mort sera impur.
37 And if there fal of their dead carkeis vpon any seede, which vseth to be sowe, it shalbe cleane.
S’il tombe quelque chose de leur corps mort sur une semence qui doit être semée, la semence restera pure;
38 But if any water be powred vpon ye seede, and there fal of their dead carkeis thereon, it shall be vncleane vnto you.
mais si l’on a mis de l’eau sur la semence, et qu’il y tombe quelque chose de leur corps mort, vous la tiendrez pour souillée.
39 If also any beast, whereof ye may eate, die, he that toucheth the carkeis thereof shall be vncleane vntil the euen.
S’il meurt un des animaux qui vous servent de nourriture, celui qui touchera son cadavre sera impur jusqu’au soir.
40 And he that eateth of the carkeis of it, shall wash his clothes and be vncleane vntil the euen: he also that beareth the carkeis of it, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntil the euen.
Celui qui mangera de son corps mort lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir; celui qui portera son corps mort, lavera ses vêtements et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
41 Euery creeping thing therefore that creepeth vpon the earth shalbe an abomination, and not be eaten.
Vous aurez en abomination tout reptile qui rampe sur la terre: on n’en mangera point.
42 Whatsoeuer goeth vpon the breast, and whatsoeuer goeth vpon al foure, or that hath many feete among all creeping thinges that creepe vpon the earth, ye shall not eate of them, for they shalbe abomination.
Vous ne mangerez d’aucun animal qui rampe sur la terre, soit de ceux qui se traînent sur le ventre, soit de ceux qui marchent sur quatre pieds ou sur un grand nombre de pieds; car vous les aurez en abomination.
43 Ye shall not pollute your selues with any thing that creepeth, neither make your selues vncleane with them, neither defile your selues thereby: ye shall not, I say, be defiled by them,
Ne vous rendez pas abominables par tous ces reptiles qui rampent; ne vous rendez pas impurs par eux; vous seriez souillés par eux.
44 For I am the Lord your God: be sanctified therefore, and be holy, for I am holy, and defile not your selues with any creeping thing, that creepeth vpon the earth.
Car je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu; vous vous sanctifierez et vous serez saints, car je suis saint; et vous ne vous souillerez pas par tous ces reptiles, qui rampent sur la terre.
45 For I am the Lord that brought you out of the lande of Egypt, to be your God, and that you should be holy, for I am holy.
Car je suis Yahweh, qui vous ai fait monter du pays d’Égypte, pour être votre Dieu. Vous serez saints, car je suis saint. »
46 This is the law of beasts, and of foules, and of euery liuing thing that moueth in the waters, and of euery thing that creepeth vpon the earth:
Telle est la loi touchant les quadrupèdes, les oiseaux, tous les êtres vivants qui se meuvent dans les eaux, et tous les êtres qui rampent sur la terre,
47 That there may be a difference betweene the vncleane and cleane, and betweene the beast that may be eaten, and the beast that ought not to be eaten.
afin que vous distinguiez entre ce qui est impur et ce qui est pur, entre l’animal qui se mange et celui qui ne se mange pas.
