Lamentations 2

1 How hath the Lord darkened the daughter of Zion in his wrath! and hath cast downe from heauen vnto the earth the beautie of Israel, and remembred not his footestoole in the day of his wrath!

چگونه خداوند اورشلیم را با ابر خشم و غضب خویش پوشانید و جلال آسمانی اسرائیل را تباه کرد. او در روز خشم خود، حتی خانهٔ خویش را به یاد نیاورد.

2 The Lord hath destroyed al the habitations of Iaakob, and not spared: he hath throwen downe in his wrath ye strong holds of the daughter of Iudah: he hath cast the downe to ye ground: he hath polluted the kingdome and the princes thereof.

خداوند به خانه‌های قوم اسرائیل رحم نکرد و تمام آنها را ویران نمود. او قلعه‌های اورشلیم را در هم شکست و اسرائیل را با تمام بزرگانش بی‌حرمت نمود.

3 Hee hath cut off in his fierce wrath all the horne of Israel: he hath drawen backe his right hand from before the enemie, and there was kindled in Iaakob like a flame of fire, which deuoured rounde about.

او به هنگام خشم خود حاکمان اسرائیل را نابود کرد و هنگام حملهٔ دشمن از قوم خود حمایت ننمود. آتش خشم او سراسر خاک اسرائیل را به نابودی کشاند.

4 He hath bent his bowe like an enemie: his right hand was stretched vp as an aduersarie, and slewe al that was pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he powred out his wrath like fire.

او مانند یک دشمن، تیر و کمانش را به سوی ما نشانه گرفت و جوانان برومند ما را کشت. او خشم خود را همچون شعلهٔ آتش بر خیمه‌های اورشلیم فرود آورد.

5 The Lord was as an enemie: he hath deuoured Israel, and consumed all his palaces: hee hath destroyed his strong holdes, and hath increased in the daughter of Iudah lamentation and mourning.

بله، خداوند همچون یک دشمن، اسرائیل را هلاک کرد و قصرها و قلعه‌هایش را ویران نمود و بر غم و غصهٔ ساکنان یهودا افزود.

6 For hee hath destroyed his Tabernacle, as a garden, hee hath destroyed his Congregation: the Lord hath caused the feastes and Sabbathes to bee forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his wrath the King and the Priest.

او خانهٔ خود را همچون آلاچیقی در باغ ویران نموده است و دیگر کسی در صَهیون روزهای شَبّات و عیدهای مقدّس را گرامی نمی‌دارد. او در شدت خشم خویش پادشاهان و کاهنان را خوار نموده است.

7 The Lord hath forsaken his altar: he hath abhorred his Sanctuarie: he hath giue into the hand of the enemie the walles of her palaces: they haue made a noyse in the House of the Lord, as in the day of solemnitie.

خداوند مذبح خود را واگذارد و خانهٔ خویش را ترک گفت. دیوارهای قصرهای اورشلیم را به دست دشمن سپرد. اینک دشمن در خانهٔ خداوند که زمانی در آن عبادت می‌کردیم، فریاد شادی و پیروزی سر می‌دهد.

8 The Lord hath determined to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: hee stretched out a lyne: hee hath not withdrawen his hande from destroying: therefore hee made the rampart and the wall to lament: they were destroyed together.

خداوند قصد نمود حصارهای اورشلیم را در هم بکوبد. او شهر را اندازه‌گیری کرد تا هیچ قسمتش از خرابی در امان نماند؛ و اینک برجها و حصارهای اورشلیم فرو ریخته‌اند.

9 Her gates are sunke to the grounde: he hath destroyed and broken her barres: her King and her princes are among the Gentiles: the Lawe is no more, neither can her Prophets receiue any vision from the Lord.

دروازه‌های اورشلیم به زمین افتاده‌اند و پشت‌بندهایشان شکسته‌اند. پادشاهان و بزرگان اسرائیل به سرزمینهای دور دست تبعید شده‌اند. دیگر شریعت خدا تعلیم داده نمی‌شود و انبیا نیز از جانب خداوند رؤیا نمی‌بینند.

10 The Elders of the daughter of Zion sit vpon the grounde, and keepe silence: they haue cast vp dust vpon their heades: they haue girded them selues with sackecloth: the virgines of Ierusalem hang downe their heades to the ground.

ریش‌سفیدان اورشلیم پلاس بر تن کرده، خاموش بر زمین نشسته‌اند و از شدت غم بر سر خود خاک می‌ریزند. دختران جوان اورشلیم از شرم سر خود را به زیر می‌افکنند.

11 Mine eyes doe saile with teares: my bowels swell: my liuer is powred vpon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people, because the children and sucklings swoone in the streetes of the citie.

چشمانم از گریه تار شده است. از دیدن مصیبتی که بر سر قومم آمده، غمی جانکاه وجودم را فرا گرفته است. کودکان و شیرخوارگان در کوچه‌های شهر از حال رفته‌اند.

12 They haue sayd to their mothers, Where is bread and drinke? when they swooned as the wounded in the streetes of the citie, and whe they gaue vp the ghost in their mothers bosome.

آنها مانند مجروحان جنگی در کوچه‌ها افتاده‌اند؛ گرسنه و تشنه، مادران خود را می‌خوانند و در آغوش ایشان جان می‌دهند.

13 What thing shall I take to witnesse for thee? what thing shall I compare to thee, O daughter Ierusalem? what shall I liken to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgine daughter Zion? for thy breach is great like ye sea: who can heale thee?

ای اورشلیم، غم تو را با غم چه کسی می‌توانم مقایسه کنم؟ ای صهیون، چه بگویم و چگونه تو را دلداری دهم؟ زخم تو همچون دریا عمیق است. چه کسی می‌تواند شفایت دهد؟

14 Thy Prophets haue looked out vayne, and foolish things for thee, and they haue not discouered thine iniquitie, to turne away thy captiuitie, but haue looked out for thee false prophesies, and causes of banishment.

انبیایت به دروغ برای تو نبوّت کردند و گناهانت را به تو نشان ندادند. آنها با دادن پیامهای دروغ تو را فریب دادند و باعث اسارتت شدند.

15 All that passe by the way, clap their hands at thee: they hisse and wagge their head vpon the daughter Ierusalem, saying, Is this the citie that men call, The perfection of beautie, and the ioye of the whole earth?

ای اورشلیم، هر رهگذری که از کنارت می‌گذرد با استهزا سر خود را تکان داده می‌گوید: «آیا این است آن شهری که به زیباترین و محبوبترین شهر دنیا معروف بود!»

16 All thine enemies haue opened their mouth against thee: they hisse and gnashe the teeth, saying, Let vs deuoure it: certainely this is the day that we looked for: we haue founde and seene it.

تمام دشمنانت تو را مسخره می‌کنند و با نفرت می‌گویند: «بالاخره نابودش کردیم! انتظار چنین روزی را می‌کشیدیم و آن را با چشمان خود دیدیم.»

17 The Lord hath done that which he had purposed: he hath fulfilled his worde that he had determined of old time: he hath throwen downe, and not spared: hee hath caused thine enemie to reioyce ouer thee, and set vp the horne of thine aduersaries.

اما این کار، کار خداوند بود. او آنچه را سالها پیش فرموده بود انجام داد. همان‌گونه که بارها اخطار کرده بود، به اورشلیم رحم نکرد و آن را از بین برد و باعث شد دشمنانش از خرابی شهر شاد شوند و به قدرتشان ببالند.

18 Their heart cryed vnto the Lord, O wall of the daughter Zion, let teares runne downe like a riuer, day and night: take thee no rest, neither let the apple of thine eye cease.

ای مردم اورشلیم در حضور خداوند گریه کنید؛ ای دیوارهای اورشلیم، شب و روز همچون سیل، اشک بریزید و چشمان خود را از گریستن بازمدارید.

19 Arise, cry in the night: in the beginning of the watches powre out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift vp thine handes towarde him for the life of thy yong children, that faint for hunger in the corners of all the streetes.

شب هنگام برخیزید و ناله‌های دل خود را همچون آب در حضور خداوند بریزید! دستهای خود را به سوی او بلند کنید و برای فرزندانتان که در کوچه‌ها از گرسنگی می‌میرند، التماس نمایید!

20 Beholde, O Lord, and consider to whome thou hast done thus: shall the women eate their fruite, and children of a spanne long? shall the Priest and the Prophet be slaine in the Sanctuarie of the Lord?

خداوندا، این قوم تو هستند که آنها را به چنین بلایی دچار کرده‌ای. ببین چگونه مادران کودکانشان را که در آغوش خود پرورده‌اند، می‌خورند؛ و کاهنان و انبیا در خانۀ خداوند کشته می‌شوند.

21 The yong and the olde lie on the ground in the streetes: my virgins and my yong men are fallen by the sworde: thou hast slaine them in the day of thy wrath: thou hast killed and not spared.

ببین چگونه پیر و جوان، دختر و پسر، به شمشیر دشمن کشته شده و در کوچه‌ها افتاده‌اند. تو در روز غضبت بر ایشان رحم نکردی و ایشان را کشتی.

22 Thou hast called as in a solemne daye my terrours rounde about, so that in the day of the Lordes wrath none escaped nor remained: those that I haue nourished and brought vp, hath mine enemie consumed.

ای خداوند، تو دشمنانم را بر من فراخواندی و آنها از هر سو مرا به وحشت انداختند. در آن روز غضبت، کسی جان به در نبرد، تمام فرزندانم که آنها را در آغوش خود پرورده بودم به دست دشمنانم کشته شدند.
