Judges 7
1 Then Ierubbaal (who is Gideon) rose vp early, and all the people that were with him, and pitched beside the well of Harod, so that the hoste of the Midianites was on the Northside of them in the valley by the hill of Moreh.
És korán fölkelt Jerubbáal, az Gideón, meg az egész nép, mely vele volt és táboroztak Charód forrásánál; Midján tábora pedig északra volt tőle, a Móré halmától fogva a Völgyben.
2 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people that are with thee, are too many for me to giue the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel make their vaunt against me, and say, Mine hand hath saued mee.
És szólt az Örökkévaló Gideónhoz: Több a nép, mely veled van, hogy sem kezükbe adnám Midjánt: nehogy dicsekedjék rajtam Izraél, mondván: önkezem segített nekem.
3 Now therefore proclaime in the audience of the people, and say, Who so is timerous or fearefull, let him returne, and depart earely from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people which were at mount Gilead, two and twentie thousand: so ten thousand remayned.
Most tehát hirdesd csak a nép fülei hallatára, mondván: a ki fél és remeg, térjen vissza és forduljon meg Gileád hegyéről. És visszatért a nép közül huszonkétezer, tízezeren pedig maradtak.
4 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people are yet too many: bring them downe vnto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and of whome I say vnto thee, This man shall goe with thee, the same shall go with thee: and of whomsoeuer I say vnto thee, This man shall not goe with thee, the same shall not go.
És szólt az Örökkévaló Gideónhoz: Még ez a nép is sok, vezesd le őket a vízhez, majd megválogatom ott neked: és lészen, a kiről azt mondom neked, ez menjen veled, az megy veled; mind a kiről pedig azt mondom neked, ez ne menjen veled, az nem megy.
5 So he brought downe the people vnto the water. And the Lord sayd vnto Gideon, As many as lap the water with their tongues, as a dog lappeth, them put by themselues, and euery one that shall bow downe his knees to drinke, put apart.
Levezette tehát a népet a vízhez, és szólt az Örökkévaló Gideónhoz: Mind az, a ki nyaldos nyelvével a vízből, a mint nyaldos az eb – állítsd azt külön és mind azt is, a ki térdeire esik, hogy igyék.
6 And the nomber of them that lapped by putting their handes to their mouthes, were three hundreth men: but all the remnant of the people kneeled downe vpon their knees to drinke water.
És volt a száma azoknak, kik nyaldostak, kezüket véve szájukhoz, háromszáz ember; mind a többi nép pedig térdeire esett vizet inni.
7 Then the Lord sayde vnto Gideon, By these three hundreth men that lapped, will I saue you, and deliuer the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go euery man vnto his place.
Ekkor szólt az Örökkévaló Gideónhoz: A háromszáz emberrel, a kik nyaldostak, segítlek meg titeket és kezedbe adom Midjánt; az egész nép pedig menjen kiki az ő helyére.
8 So the people tooke vitailes with them, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel, euery man vnto his tent, and reteined the three hundreth men: and the hoste of Midian was beneath him in a valley.
És kezükbe vették a nép eleségét és harsonáit, Izraél minden emberét pedig elbocsátotta kit-kit sátraihoz s a háromszáz embert megtartotta; Midján tábora pedig tőle alant volt a völgyben.
9 And the same night the Lord sayde vnto him, Arise, get thee downe vnto the hoste: for I haue deliuered it into thine hand.
Volt pedig azon éjjel, szólt hozzá az Örökkévaló: Kelj föl, menj le a táborba, mert kezedbe adtam.
10 But if thou feare to go downe, then go thou, and Phurah thy seruant downe to the hoste,
De ha félsz lemenni, menj le te és legényed Púra a táborhoz;
11 And thou shalt hearken what they say, and so shall thine handes be strong to go downe vnto the hoste. Then went he downe and Phurah his seruant vnto the outside of the souldiers that were in the hoste.
majd meghallod mit beszélgetnek s azután megerősödnek kezeid – menj hát le a táborba. És lement, ő és legénye Púra, a táborban levő fegyveresek közelébe.
12 And the Midianites, and the Amalekites and all they of the East, lay in the valley like grashoppers in multitude, and their camels were without nomber, as the sande which is by the sea side for multitude.
Midján pedig és Amálék meg mind a Kelet fiai elterültek a völgyben, mint a sáska sokaságra; s tevéiknek nem volt száma, mint a föveny a tenger partján sokaságra.
13 And when Gideon was come, beholde, a man tolde a dreame vnto his neighbour, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dreame, and lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled from aboue into the hoste of Midian, and came vnto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and ouerturned it, that the tent fell downe.
Odament Gideón, s íme valaki elbeszél egy álmot a társának; mondta: Íme, álmot álmodtam, s íme egy czipó árpakenyér forog Midján táborában, eljutott a sátorig s meglökte, hogy összedőlt, majd fölfelé fordította, hogy összedőlt a sátor.
14 And his fellow answered, and sayde, This is nothing els saue the sworde of Gideon the sonne of Ioash a man of Israel: for into his hande hath God deliuered Midian and all the hoste.
Erre felelt a társa és mondta: Nem más az, mint Gideónnak, Jóás fiának, az izraelita férfiúnak kardja; kezébe adta Isten Midjánt és az egész tábort.
15 When Gideon heard the dreame tolde, and the interpretation of the same, he worshipped, and returned vnto the hoste of Israel, and said, Vp: for the Lord hath deliuered into your hande the hoste of Midian.
És volt, mihelyt meghallotta Gideón az álom elbeszélését és megfejtését, leborult; visszatért Izraél táborához s mondta: Keljetek föl, mert kezetekbe adta az Örökkévaló Midján táborát.
16 And hee deuided the three hundreth men into three bandes, and gaue euery man a trumpet in his hande with emptie pitchers, and lampes within the pitchers.
S elosztotta a háromszáz embert három csapatra; adott harsonákat mindnyájuk kezébe; meg üres korsókat és fáklyákat a korsókban.
17 And he sayd vnto them, Looke on me, and do likewise, when I come to the side of the hoste: euen as I do, so do you.
És szólt hozzájuk: Tőlem látjátok majd s akképpen cselekedjetek; íme, midőn odaérek a tábor szélére, akkor lészen, a mint én cselekszem, úgy cselekedjetek ti.
18 When I blowe with a trumpet and all that are with me, blowe ye with trumpets also on euery side of the hoste, and say, For the Lord, and for Gideon.
Megfúvom a harsonát, én és mind a velem levők, akkor fújjátok ti is a harsonákat az egész tábor körül és mondjátok: Az Örökkévalóért és Gideónért!
19 So Gideon and the hundreth men that were with him, came vnto the outside of the hoste, in the beginning of the middle watche, and they raised vp the watchmen, and they blew with their trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their handes.
S oda ért Gideón meg a száz ember, ki vele volt, a tábor szélére a középső őrszak kezdetén – éppen fölállították az őröket – akkor megfújták a harsonákat és szétzúzták a kezükben levő korsókat.
20 And the three companies blew with trumpets and brake the pitchers, and helde the lampes in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right. handes to blowe withall: and they cryed, The sword of the Lord and of Gideon.
Erre megfújta a három csapat a harsonákat, összetörték a korsókat s megragadták bal kezükkel a fáklyákat, jobb kezükkel pedig a harsonákat, hogy fújjanak; így kiáltottak: Kard az Örökkévalóért és Gideónért!
21 And they stoode, euery man in his place round about the hoste: and all the hoste ranne, and cryed, and fled.
És álltak kiki a maga helyén a tábor körül; szerteszaladt az egész a tábor, riadoztak és megfutamodtak.
22 And the three hundreth blewe with trumpets, and the Lord set euery mans sworde vpon his neighbour, and vpon all the hoste: so the hoste fled to Beth-hashittah in Zererah, and to the border of Abel-meholah, vnto Tabbath.
És megfújták a háromszáz harsonát, ekkor fordította az Örökkévaló egyiknek kardját a másika ellen és pedig az egész táborban; és megfutamodott a tábor Bét-Sittáig, Czeréra felé, Ábél Mechóla partjáig Tabbát mellett.
23 Then the men of Israel being gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, pursued after the Midianites.
És összegyülekezett Izraél embere Naftáliból, Ásérból és egész Menasséból és üldözték Midjánt.
24 And Gideon sent messengers vnto all mount Ephraim, saying, Come downe against the Midianites, and take before them the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and tooke the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden.
S követeket küldött Gideón Efraim egész hegységébe, mondván: Menjetek le Midján ellenébe és foglaljátok el tőlük a vizeket Bét-Báráig, meg a Jordánt. És összegyülekezett Efraim minden embere, s elfoglalták a vizeket Bét-Báráig, meg a Jordánt.
25 And they tooke two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb vpon the rocke Oreb, and slewe Zeeb at the winepresse of Zeeb, and pursued the Midianites, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyonde Iorden.
Elfogták Midján két vezérét: Órébet és Zeébet; és megölték Órébet az Óréb-sziklán, Zeébet pedig megölték a Zeéb-présházban, és üldözték Midjánt; Óréb és Zeéb fejét pedig Gideónhoz vitték túl a Jordánon.
