Judges 4
1 And the children of Israel began againe to do wickedly in the sight of the Lord when Ehud was dead.
Después de la muerte de Aod, los israelitas volvieron a hacer lo que era malo a los ojos del Señor.
2 And the Lord sold them into the hande of Iabin King of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor, whose chiefe Captaine was called Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
Así que el Señor los vendió a Jabín, rey de Canaán, que gobernaba desde Hazor. Su comandante del ejército era Sísara, que vivía en Jaroset Goyim.
3 Then the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord: (for he had nine hundreth charets of yron, and twentie yeeres he had vexed the children of Israel very sore)
Los israelitas clamaron al Señor para que los ayudara, porque Sísara tenía novecientos carros de hierro y los maltrató cruelmente durante veinte años.
4 And at that time Deborah a Prophetesse the wife of Lapidoth iudged Israel.
Débora, esposa de Lapidot, era profeta y dirigía a Israel como juez en ese momento.
5 And this Deborah dwelt vnder a palme tree, betweene Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim, and the children of Israel came vp to her for iudgement.
Se sentaba bajo la palma de Débora, entre Ramá y Betel, en la región montañosa de Efraín, y los israelitas acudían a ella para que tomara sus decisiones.
6 Then shee sent and called Barak the sonne of Abinoam out of Kadesh of Naphtali, and sayd vnto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Goe, and drawe towarde mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousande men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
Mandó llamar a Barac, hijo de Abinoam, desde la ciudad de Cedes, en Neftalí, y le dijo: “El Señor, el Dios de Israel, te lo ordena: ‘Ve al monte Tabor, y toma contigo diez mil hombres de Neftalí y Zabulón, y llévalos allí.
7 And I wil drawe vnto thee to the riuer Kishon Sisera, the captaine of Iabins armie with his charets, and his multitude, and wil deliuer him into thine hand.
Yo llevaré a Sísara, el comandante del ejército de Jabín, con sus carros y sus tropas, hasta el río Cisón, y te lo entregaré’”.
8 And Barak sayd vnto her, If thou wilt go with me, I will go: but if thou wilt not goe with me, I will not go.
Barac respondió: “Si vienes conmigo, iré; pero si no vienes conmigo, no iré”.
9 Then shee answered, I will surely goe with thee, but this iourney that thou takest, shall not be for thine honour: for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.
“Definitivamente iré contigo”, respondió Débora, “pero si vas a tomar ese camino, no recibirás ningún respeto, porque el Señor entregará a Sísara en manos de una mujer”. Débora se levantó y fue con Barac a Cedes.
10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he went vp on his feete with ten thousand men, and Deborah went vp with him.
Barac convocó a los ejércitos de Zabulón y Neftalí, y diez mil hombres se reunieron bajo su mando. Débora también estaba allí con él.
11 (Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in lawe of Moses, was departed from the Kenites, and pitched his tent vntill the playne of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh)
(Heber el ceneo se había separado de los demás ceneos, los descendientes de Hobab, el suegro de Moisés, y había instalado su tienda en el gran árbol de Zaanannim, que está cerca de Cedes).
12 Then they shewed Sisera, that Barak the sonne of Abinoam was gone vp to mout Tabor.
Sísara se enteró de que Barac, hijo de Abinoam, había ido al monte Tabor,
13 And Sisera called for all his charets, euen nine hundreth charets of yron, and all the people that were with him from Harosheth of the Gentiles, vnto the riuer Kishon.
así que convocó a todos sus novecientos carros de hierro y a todos sus hombres para que vinieran desde Jaroset Goyim hasta el río Cisón.
14 Then Deborah sayd vnto Barak, Vp: for this is the day that the Lord hath deliuered Sisera into thine hand. Is not the Lord gone out before thee? So Barak went downe from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
Entonces Débora le dijo a Barac: “¡Ponte en marcha! Hoy el Señor te ha entregado a Sísara. ¿No marchó el Señor delante de ti?” Entonces Barac bajó del monte Tabor, acompañado de diez mil hombres.
15 And the Lord destroyed Sisera and all his charets, and al his hoste with the edge of the sword before Barak, so that Sisera lighted downe off his charet, and fled away on his feete.
Cuando Barac atacó, el Señor hizo entrar en pánico a Sísara y a todos sus carros y guerreros. Sísara saltó de su carro y huyó.
16 But Barak pursued after the charets, and after the hoste vnto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the hoste of Sisera fel vpon the edge of the sworde: there was not a man left.
Barac persiguió a los carros y a las tropas hasta Jaroset Goyim. Todo el ejército de Sísara murió; no sobrevivió ni un solo hombre.
17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feete to the tent of Iael the wife of Heber the Kenite: (for peace was betweene Iabin the king of Hazor, and betweene the house of Heber the Kenite)
Mientras tanto, Sísara había huido a la tienda de Jael, la esposa de Heber el ceneo, porque había un tratado de paz entre Jabín, rey de Hazor, y la familia de Heber el ceneo.
18 And Iael went out to meete Sisera, and sayd vnto him, Turne in, my lord, turne in to me: feare not. And when he had turned in vnto her into her tent, she couered him with a mantell.
Jael salió al encuentro de Sísara y le dijo: “Entra, señor mío, entra conmigo. No tengas miedo”. Así que él entró en su tienda, y ella lo cubrió con una gruesa manta.
19 And he said vnto her, Giue me, I pray thee, a litle water to drinke: for I am thirstie. And shee opened a bottel of milke, and gaue him drinke, and couered him.
“Por favor, dame un poco de agua para beber, porque tengo sed”, le pidió Sísara. Así que ella abrió un odre de leche, le dio de beber y lo volvió a tapar.
20 Againe he sayde vnto her, Stande in the doore of the tent, and when any man doth come and enquire of thee, saying, Is any man there? thou shalt say, Nay.
“Haz guardia en la puerta de la tienda”, le dijo él. “Si viene alguien y te pregunta: ‘¿Hay alguien aquí?’, sólo di que no”.
21 Then Iael Hebers wife tooke a nayle of the tent, and tooke an hammer in her hande, and went softly vnto him, and smote the nayle into his temples, and fastened it into the grounde, (for he was fast a sleepe and weary) and so he dyed.
Pero Jael, la esposa de Heber, tomó una estaca de la tienda y un martillo y se acercó sigilosamente a él, donde yacía profundamente dormido y agotado. Le clavó la estaca de la tienda en la sien hasta atravesarlahasta la tierra, y así murió.
22 And behold, as Barak pursued after Sisera, Iael came out to meete him, and sayd vnto him, Come, and I wil shewe thee the man, whome thou seekest: and when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nayle in his temples.
Cuando Barak pasó, buscando a Sísara, Jael salió a su encuentro y le dijo: “Ven aquí y te mostraré al hombre que buscas”. Él entró con ella, y allí yacía Sísara, muerto, con la estaca de la tienda atravesada en la sien.
23 So God brought downe Iabin the King of Canaan that day before the children of Israel.
Ese día Dios derrotó a Jabín, rey de Canaán, en presencia de los israelitas.
24 And the hande of the children of Israel prospered, and preuailed against Iabin the King of Canaan, vntill they had destroyed Iabin King of Canaan.
A partir de entonces Israel se hizo cada vez más poderoso hasta que destruyó a Jabín, rey de Hazor.
