Judges 2
1 And an Angel of the Lord came vp from Gilgal to Bochim, and sayd, I made you to go vp out of Egypt, and haue brought you vnto the land which I had sworne vnto your fathers, and sayd, I wil neuer breake my couenant with you.
El ángel del Señor subió de Gilgal a Bochim. Le dijo: “Yo te saqué de Egipto y te traje a la tierra que juré dar a tus padres. Dije: ‘Nunca romperé mi pacto con ustedes.
2 Ye also shall make no couenant with the inhabitants of this land, but shall breake downe their altars: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce. Why haue ye done this?
No harás ningún pacto con los habitantes de esta tierra. Derribarás sus altares’. Pero ustedes no han escuchado mi voz. ¿Por qué has hecho esto?
3 Wherefore, I sayd also, I wil not cast them out before you, but they shalbe as thornes vnto your sides, and their gods shalbe your destruction.
Por eso también he dicho: ‘No los echaré de delante de ti, sino que estarán en tus costados, y sus dioses te serán una trampa’.”
4 And when the Angel of the Lord spake these wordes vnto all the children of Israel, the people lift vp their voyce, and wept.
Cuando el ángel de Yahvé dijo estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo alzó la voz y lloró.
5 Therefore they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifices there vnto the Lord.
Llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Bochim, y sacrificaron allí a Yahvé.
6 Now when Ioshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went euery man into his inheritance, to possesse the land.
Cuando Josué despidió al pueblo, los hijos de Israel se dirigieron cada uno a su heredad para poseer la tierra.
7 And the people had serued the Lord al the dayes of Ioshua, and all the dayes of the Elders that outliued Ioshua, which had seene all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
El pueblo sirvió a Yahvé todos los días de Josué, y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué, quienes habían visto toda la gran obra de Yahvé que él había realizado para Israel.
8 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun the seruant of the Lord dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yeeres olde:
Josué hijo de Nun, siervo de Yahvé, murió, siendo de ciento diez años.
9 And they buryed him in the coastes of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.
Lo enterraron en el límite de su heredad, en Timnat Heres, en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte de la montaña de Gaas.
10 And so all that generation was gathered vnto their fathers, and another generation arose after them, which neither knewe the Lord, nor yet the works, which he had done for Israel.
Después de que toda esa generación se reunió con sus padres, se levantó tras ella otra generación que no conoció a Yahvé ni la obra que había hecho por Israel.
11 Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim,
Los hijos de Israel hicieron lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y sirvieron a los baales.
12 And forsooke ye Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and followed other gods, euen the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed vnto them, and prouoked the Lord to anger.
Abandonaron a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y siguieron a otros dioses, de los pueblos que los rodeaban, y se inclinaron ante ellos; y provocaron la ira de Yahvé.
13 So they forsooke the Lord, and serued Baal, and Ashtaroth.
Abandonaron a Yahvé y sirvieron a Baal y a Astarot.
14 And the wrath of the Lord was hote against Israel, and he deliuered them into the hands of spoylers, that spoyled them, and he sold them into the handes of their enemies rounde about them, so that they could no longer stande before their enemies.
La ira de Yahvé se encendió contra Israel, y los entregó en manos de salteadores que los saquearon. Los vendió en manos de sus enemigos por todas partes, de modo que ya no pudieron resistir ante sus enemigos.
15 Whithersoeuer they went out, the hand of the Lord was sore against them, as ye Lord had sayd, and as the Lord had sworne vnto them: so he punished them sore.
Dondequiera que salían, la mano de Yahvé estaba contra ellos para mal, como Yahvé había hablado y como Yahvé les había jurado; y estaban muy angustiados.
16 Notwithstanding, the Lord raysed vp Iudges, which deliuered them out of the hands of their oppressours.
El Señor suscitó jueces que los salvaron de la mano de los que los saqueaban.
17 But yet they would not obey their Iudges: for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandements of the Lord: they did not so.
Sin embargo, no escucharon a sus jueces, pues se prostituyeron ante otros dioses y se inclinaron ante ellos. Se apartaron rápidamente del camino por el que anduvieron sus padres, obedeciendo los mandamientos de Yahvé. No lo hicieron.
18 And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)
Cuando Yahvé les suscitó jueces, entonces Yahvé estuvo con el juez y los salvó de la mano de sus enemigos durante todos los días del juez, porque a Yahvé le dolía su gemido a causa de los que los oprimían y los perturbaban.
19 Yet when the Iudge was dead, they returned, and did worse then their fathers, in following other gods to serue them and worshippe them: they ceased not from their owne inuentions, nor from their rebellious way.
Pero cuando murió el juez, se volvieron atrás y actuaron más corruptamente que sus padres al seguir a otros dioses para servirles e inclinarse ante ellos. No dejaron de hacer lo que hacían, ni abandonaron sus costumbres obstinadas.
20 Wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sayd, Because this people hath transgressed my couenant, which I commaded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voyce,
La ira de Yahvé se encendió contra Israel, y dijo: “Por cuanto esta nación ha transgredido mi pacto que ordené a sus padres, y no ha escuchado mi voz,
21 Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the nations, which Ioshua left when he dyed,
yo también no volveré a expulsar de delante de ellos a ninguna de las naciones que dejó Josué cuando murió;
22 That through them I may proue Israel, whether they wil keepe the way of the Lord, to walke therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
para que por medio de ellas ponga a prueba a Israel, para ver si guardan el camino de Yahvé para andar por él, como lo guardaron sus padres, o no.”
23 So the Lord left those nations, and droue them not out immediatly, neither deliuered them into the hand of Ioshua.
Así que Yahvé dejó a esas naciones, sin expulsarlas precipitadamente. No las entregó en manos de Josué.
