Judges 16
1 Then went Samson to Azzah, and sawe there an harlot, and went in vnto her.
E foi-se Sansão a Gaza, e viu ali uma mulher prostituta, e entrou a ella.
2 And it was tolde to the Azzahites, Samson is come hither. And they went about, and laied wayte for him all night in the gate of the citie, and were quiet all the nyght, saying, Abide till the morning earely, and we shall kill him.
E foi dito aos gazitas: Sansão entrou aqui. Foram pois em roda, e toda a noite lhe puzeram espias á porta da cidade: porém toda a noite estiveram socegados, dizendo: Até á luz da manhã esperaremos; então o mataremos.
3 And Samson slept till midnight, and arose at midnight, and tooke the doores of the gates of the citie, and the two postes and lift them away with the barres, and put them vpon his shoulders, and caried them vp to the top of the mountaine that is before Hebron.
Porém Sansão deitou-se até á meia noite, e á meia noite se levantou, e travou das portas da entrada da cidade com ambas as umbreiras, e juntamente com a tranca as tomou, pondo-as sobre os hombros; e levou-as para cima até ao cume do monte que está defronte de Hebron
4 And after this hee loued a woman by the riuer of Sorek, whose name was Delilah:
E depois d'isto aconteceu que se affeiçoou a uma mulher do valle de Sorec, cujo nome era Dalila.
5 Vnto whome came the princes of the Philistims, and said vnto her, Entise him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what meane we may ouercome him, that we may binde him, and punish him, and euery one of vs shall giue thee eleuen hundreth shekels of siluer.
Então os principes dos philisteos subiram a ella, e lhe disseram: Persuade-o, e vê, em que consiste a sua grande força, e com que poderiamos assenhorear-nos d'elle e amarral-o, para assim o affligir mos: e te daremos cada um mil e cem moedas de prata.
6 And Delilah saide to Samson, Tell mee, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest bee bound, to doe thee hurt.
Disse pois Dalila a Sansão: Declara-me. peco-te, em que consiste a tua grande força, e com que poderias ser amarrado para te poderem affligir.
7 Samson then answered vnto her, If they binde mee with seuen greene cordes, that were neuer dryed, then shall I bee weake, and be as an other man.
Disse-lhe Sansão: Se me amarrassem com sete vergas de vimes frescos, que ainda não estivessem seccos, então me enfraqueceria, e seria como qualquer outro homem.
8 And the princes of the Philistims brought her seuen greene cordes that were not dry, and she bound him therewith.
Então os principes dos philisteos lhe trouxeram sete vergas de vimes frescos, que ainda não estavam seccos: e amarrou-o com ellas.
9 (And she had men lying in wayte with her in the chamber) Then she said vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And hee brake the cordes, as a threede of towe is broken, when it feeleth fire: so his strength was not knowen.
E os espias estavam assentados com ella n'uma camara. Então ella lhe disse: Os philisteos veem sobre ti, Sansão. Então quebrou as vergas de vimes, como se quebra o fio da estopa ao cheiro do fogo; assim não se soube em que consistia a sua força.
10 After Delilah saide vnto Samson, See, thou hast mocked mee and tolde mee lies. I pray thee nowe, tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound.
Então disse Dalila a Sansão: Eis que zombaste de mim, e me disseste mentiras: ora declara-me agora com que poderias ser amarrado.
11 Then he answered her, If they binde mee with newe ropes that neuer were occupied, then shall I be weake, and be as an other man.
E elle lhe disse: Se me amarrassem fortemente com cordas novas, com que se não houvesse feito obra nenhuma, então me enfraqueceria, e seria como qualquer outro homem.
12 Delilah therefore tooke newe ropes, and bounde him therewith, and saide vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson: (and men lay in wayte in the chamber) and hee brake them from his armes, as a threede.
Então Dalila tomou cordas novas, e o amarrou com ellas, e disse-lhe: Os philisteos veem sobre ti, Sansão. E os espias estavam assentados n'uma camara. Então as quebrou de seus braços como um fio
13 Afterward Delilah said to Samson, Hitherto thou hast beguiled mee, and tolde me lies: tell me how thou mightest be bounde. And he sayde vnto her, If thou plattedst seuen lockes of mine head with the threedes of the woufe.
E disse Dalila a Sansão: Até agora zombaste de mim, e me disseste mentiras; declara-me pois agora com que poderias ser amarrado? E elle lhe disse: Se teceres sete tranças dos cabellos da minha cabeça com os liços da têa.
14 And she fastened it with a pinne, and saide vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleepe, and went away with the pinne of the webbe and the woufe.
E ella as fixou com uma estaca, e disse-lhe: Os philisteos veem sobre ti, Sansão. Então despertou do seu somno, e arrancou a estaca das tranças tecidas, juntamente com o liço da têa
15 Againe shee sayde vnto him, Howe canst thou say, I loue thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked mee these three times, and hast not tolde me wherein thy great strength lieth.
Então ella lhe disse: Como dirás: Tenho-te amor, não estando comigo o teu coração? já tres vezes zombaste de mim, e ainda me não declaraste em que consiste a tua forca.
16 And because shee was importunate vpon him with her wordes continually, and vexed him, his soule was pained vnto the death.
E succedeu que, importunanado-o ella todos os dias com as suas palavras, e molestando-o, a sua alma se angustiou até á morte.
17 Therefore he tolde her all his heart, and said vnto her, There neuer came rasor vpon mine head: for I am a Nazarite vnto God from my mothers wombe: therefore if I bee shauen, my strength will goe from me, and I shalbe weake, and be like all other men.
E descobriu-lhe todo o seu coração, disse-lhe: Nunca subiu navalha á minha cabeça, porque sou nazireo de Deus desde o ventre de minha mãe: se viesse a ser rapado, ir-se-hia de mim a minha força, e me enfraqueceria, e seria como todos os mais homens.
18 And when Delilah sawe that he had tolde her all his heart, she sent, and called for the Princes of ye Philistims, saying, Come vp once againe: for he hath shewed mee all his heart. Then the Princes of the Philistims came vp vnto her, and brought the money in their handes.
Vendo pois Dalila que já lhe descobrira todo o seu coração, enviou, e chamou os principes dos philisteos, dizendo: Subi esta vez, porque agora me descobriu elle todo o seu coração. E os principes dos philisteos subiram a ella, e trouxeram o dinheiro na sua mão.
19 And she made him sleepe vpon her knees, and she called a man, and made him to shaue off the seuen lockes of his head, and shee began to vexe him, and his strength was gone from him.
Então ella o fez dormir sobre os seus joelhos, e chamou a um homem, e rapou-lhe as sete tranças do cabello de sua cabeça: e começou a affligil-o, e retirou-se d'elle a sua força.
20 Then she said, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And hee awoke out of his sleepe, and thought, I will go out now as at other times, and shake my selfe, but he knewe not that the Lord was departed from him.
E disse ella: Os philisteos veem sobre ti, Sansão. E despertou do seu somno, e disse: Sairei ainda esta vez como d'antes, e me sacudirei. Porque elle não sabia que já o Senhor se tinha retirado d'elle.
21 Therefore the Philistims tooke him, and put out his eyes, and brought him downe to Azzah, and bounde him with fetters: and hee did grinde in the prison house.
Então os philisteos pegaram n'elle, e lhe arrancaram os olhos, e fizeram-n'o descer a Gaza, e amarraram-n'o com duas cadeias de bronze, e andava elle moendo no carcere.
22 And the heare of his head began to growe againe after that it was shauen.
E o cabello da sua cabeça lhe começou a ir crescendo, como quando foi rapado.
23 Then the Princes of the Philistims gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice vnto Dagon their god, and to reioyce: for they said, Our god hath deliuered Samson our enemie into our handes.
Então os principes dos philisteos se ajuntaram para offerecer um grande sacrificio ao seu deus Dagon, e para se alegrarem, e diziam: Nosso deus nos entregou nas mãos a Sansão, nosso inimigo.
24 Also when the people saw him, they praysed their god: for they sayde, Our god hath deliuered into our hands our enemie and destroyer of our countrey, which hath slayne many of vs.
Similhantemente, vendo-o o povo, louvavam ao seu deus; porque diziam: Nosso deus nos entregou na mão o nosso inimigo, e ao que destruia a nossa terra, e ao que multiplicava os nossos mortos.
25 And when their heartes were merie, they said, Call Samson, that he may make vs pastime. So they called Samson out of the prison house, and he was a laughing stocke vnto them, and they set him betweene the pillars.
E succedeu que, alegrando-se-lhes o coração, disseram: Chamae a Sansão, para que brinque diante de nós. E chamaram a Sansão do carcere, e brincou diante d'elles, e fizeram-n'o estar em pé entre as columnas.
26 Then Samson saide vnto the seruant that led him by the hande, Lead me, that I may touch the pillars that the house standeth vpon, and that I may leane to them.
Então disse Sansão ao moço que o tinha pela mão: Guia-me para que apalpe as columnas em que se sustém a casa, para que me encoste a ellas.
27 (Nowe the house was full of men and women, and there were all the princes of the Philistims: also vpon the roofe were about three thousande men and women that behelde while Samson played)
Ora estava a casa cheia de homens e mulheres: e tambem ali estavam todos os principes dos philisteos: e sobre o telhado havia alguns tres mil homens e mulheres, que estavam vendo brincar Sansão.
28 Then Samson called vnto the Lord, and sayde, O Lord God, I pray thee, thinke vpon me: O God, I beseech thee, strengthen me at this time onely, that I may be at once auenged of the Philistims for my two eyes.
Então Sansão clamou ao Senhor, e disse: Senhor Jehovah, peço-te que te lembres de mim, e esforça-me agora só esta vez, ó Deus, para que de uma vez me vingue dos philisteos, pelos meus dois olhos
29 And Samson layd hold on the two middle pillars whereupon the house stood, and on which it was borne vp: on the one with his right hand, and on the other with his left.
Abraçou-se pois Sansão com as duas columnas do meio, em que se sustinha a casa, e arrimou-se sobre ellas, com a sua mão direita n'uma, e com a sua esquerda na outra.
30 Then Samson saide, Let me lose my life with the Philistims: and he bowed him with all his might, and the house fell vpon the princes, and vpon all the people that were therein. so the dead which he slewe at his death were more then they which he had slaine in his life.
E disse Sansão: Morra eu com os philisteos. E inclinou-se com força, e a casa caiu sobre os principes e sobre todo o povo que n'ella havia: e foram mais os mortos que matou na sua morte do que os que matara na sua vida.
31 Then his brethren, and all the house of his father came downe and tooke him, and brought him vp and buryed him betweene Zorah and Eshtaol, in the sepulchre of Manoah his father: nowe he had iudged Israel twenty yeeres.
Então seus irmãos desceram, e toda a casa de seu pae, e tomaram-n'o, e subiram com elle, e sepultaram-n'o entre Tsora e Estaol, no sepulchro de Manué, seu pae: e julgou elle a Israel vinte annos.
