Judges 14
1 Nowe Samson went downe to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims,
Simson aber ging nach Timnat hinab und sah zu Timnat ein philistäisches Weib.
2 And he came vp and told his father and his mother and saide, I haue seene a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims: now therfore giue me her to wife.
Da ging er hinauf und erzählte es Vater und Mutter. Er sprach: "Ich habe zu Timnat ein philistäisches Weib gesehen. Freit mir sie jetzt zum Weibe!"
3 Then his father and his mother sayde vnto him, Is there neuer a wife among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, that thou must go to take a wife of the vncircumcised Philistims? And Samson sayd vnto his father, Giue mee her, for she pleaseth me well.
Da sprachen zu ihm Vater und Mutter: "Gibt es unter den Töchtern deiner Brüder und in meinem ganzen Volke kein Weib, daß du bei den unbeschnittenen Philistern ein Weib freien willst?" Simson aber sprach zu seinem Vater: "Freie mir sie! Denn diese gefällt mir."
4 But his father and his mother knewe not that it came of the Lord, that he should seeke an occasion against the Philistims: for at that time the Philistims reigned ouer Israel.
Sein Vater und seine Mutter aber wußten nicht, daß es vom Herrn kam, daß er einen Anlaß gegen die Philister suchte. Zu jener Zeit herrschten nämlich die Philister über Israel.
5 Then went Samson and his father and his mother downe to Timnath, and came to ye vineyardes at Timnath: and beholde, a young Lyon roared vpon him.
So ging Simson mit Vater und Mutter nach Timnat hinunter. Sie kamen zu den Weinbergen Timnats. Und da brüllte ihm ein junger Löwe entgegen.
6 And the Spirit of the Lord came vpon him, and he tare him, as one should haue rent a kid, and had nothing in his hand, neither told he his father nor his mother what he had done.
Da kam der Geist des Herrn über ihn, und er schlitzte ihn auf, wie man ein Böckchen aufschlitzt. Er hatte dabei nichts in der Hand. Seinem Vater und seiner Mutter aber sagte er nicht, was er getan.
7 And he went down, and talked with the woman which was beautifull in the eyes of Samson.
Dann ging er hinab und warb um das Weib, und sie gefiel Simson.
8 And within a fewe dayes, when he returned to receiue her, he went aside to see the karkeis of the Lion: and behold, there was a swarme of bees, and hony in the body of the Lyon.
Nach einiger Zeit kam er wieder, sie heimzuholen. Da bog er ab, das Aas des Löwen zu schauen. Da war in dem Körper des Löwen, ein Bienenschwarm und Honig.
9 And he tooke therof in his handes, and went eating, and came to his father and to his mother, and gaue vnto them, and they did eate: but hee told not them, that he had taken the hony out of the body of the lyon.
Er nahm diesen in seine Hände und aß im Gehen. Und als er zu Vater und Mutter kam, gab er ihnen davon, und sie aßen. Er verriet ihnen aber nicht, daß er den Honig aus dem Körper des Löwen geholt hatte.
10 So his father went down vnto the woman, and Samson made there a feast: for so vsed the yong men to doe.
Dann ging er selber wegen des Weibes hinab. Und Simson veranstaltete dort ein Gelage. Denn so machten es die jungen Leute.
11 And when they sawe him, they brought thirtie companions to be with him.
Als sie ihn sahen, wählten sie dreißig Genossen aus, und diese blieben bei ihm.
12 Then Samson sayd vnto them, I will nowe put forth a riddle vnto you: and if you can declare it me within seuen dayes of the feast, and finde it out, I will giue you thirty sheetes, and thirtie change of garments.
Zu diesen sprach Simson: "Ich will euch ein Rätsel aufgeben. Löst ihr es mir in den sieben Tagen des Gelages, und findet ihr es, dann gebe ich euch dreißig Unterkleider und dreißig Festgewänder.
13 But if you cannot declare it mee, then shall yee giue mee thirty sheetes and thirtie change of garments. And they answered him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may heare it.
Könnt ihr es mir aber nicht lösen, dann gebt ihr mir dreißig Unterkleider und dreißig Festgewänder." Sie sprachen zu ihm: "Gib dein Rätsel auf, daß wir es vernehmen!"
14 And he sayd vnto them, Out of the eater came meate, and out of the strong came sweetenesse: and they could not in three dayes expound the riddle.
Er sprach zu ihnen: "Fraß ist vom Fresser gekommen, Süßes vom Herben." Sie aber konnten während dreier Tage das Rätsel nicht lösen.
15 And when the seuenth day was come, they said vnto Samsons wife, Entise thine husband, that he may declare vs the riddle, lest wee burne thee and thy fathers house with fire. Haue ye called vs, to possesse vs? is it not so?
Am vierten Tage sprachen sie zu Simsons Weib: "Berede deinen Mann, daß er uns des Rätsels Lösung gibt! Sonst verbrennen wir dich und das Haus deines Vaters. Habt ihr uns nur eingeladen, um uns arm zu machen? Oder nicht?"
16 And Samsons wife wept before him, and said, Surely thou hatest mee and louest mee not: for thou hast put forth a riddle vnto the children of my people, and hast not told it mee. And hee sayd vnto her, Beholde, I haue not told it my father, nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
Da weinte Simsons Weib ihm vor und sprach: "Nicht anders ist's: Du bist mir abgeneigt. Du liebst mich nicht. Hast du nicht meinen Landsleuten ein Rätsel aufgegeben? Und mir sagst du es nicht." Er sprach zu ihr: "Weder Vater noch Mutter habe ich es verraten und dir sollt ich es verraten?"
17 Then Samsons wife wept before him seuen dayes, while their feast lasted: and when the seuenth day came he tolde her, because she was importunate vpon him: so she told the riddle to the children of her people.
Da weinte sie ihm die sieben Tage vor, die das Gelage dauerte. Am siebten Tage aber verriet er es ihr, weil sie ihn gequält hatte. Und sie verriet das Rätsel ihren Landsleuten.
18 And the men of ye citie sayde vnto him the seuenth day before the Sunne went downe, What is sweeter then honie? and what is stronger then a lyon? Then sayd hee vnto them, If yee had not plowed with my heiffer, yee had not found out my riddle.
Am siebten Tage sagten die Leute der Stadt zu ihm, bevor er ins Brautgemach ging: "Was ist süßer als Honig, und was ist herber als ein Löwe?" Er sprach zu ihnen: "Hättet ihr nicht mit meinem Kalbe gepflügt, so hättet ihr mein Rätsel nicht gelöst."
19 And the Spirite of the Lord came vpon him, and he went downe to Ashkelon, and slew thirtie men of them and spoyled them, and gaue chaunge of garments vnto them, which expounded the riddle: and his wrath was kindled, and he went vp to his fathers house.
Dann überkam ihn der Geist des Herrn. Er stieg nach Askalon hinab und erschlug von ihnen dreißig Mann. Diesen nahm er die Gewandung und gab die Festgewänder den Rätsellösern. Doch ward er darüber zornig und ging zu seines Vaters Haus hinauf.
20 Then Samsons wife was giuen to his companion, whom he had vsed as his friend.
Simsons Weib aber ward seinem Gesellen zuteil, der sein Nebenbuhler gewesen war.
