Judges 12

1 And the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

Se reunieron los hombres de Efraím, y pasando a Safón dijeron a Jefté: “¿Por qué saliste a hacer la guerra contra los hijos de Ammón, sin llamarnos a nosotros para marchar contigo? Vamos a quemar tu casa sobre tu cabeza.”

2 And Iphtah said vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes.

Jefté les respondió: “Yo y mi pueblo estábamos luchando violentamente con los hijos de Ammón; y llamé a vosotros, pero no me librasteis de sus manos.

3 So when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me?

Mas viendo que no veníais a librarme, tomé mi vida en mi mano y marché contra los hijos de Ammón, y Yahvé les entregó en mi mano. ¿Por qué ahora subís contra mí para hacerme la guerra?”

4 Then Iphtah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are runnagates of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

Entonces Jefté reunió a todos los hombres de Galaad, y atacó a Efraím. Y los galaaditas derrotaron a los efraimitas, por cuanto estos decían: “Vosotros sois fugitivos de Efraím; Galaad está en medio de Efraím y Manasés.”

5 Also the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iorden before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were escaped, saide, Let me passe, then the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay,

Los galaaditas cortaron a los efraimitas los vados del Jordán; y cuando los fugitivos de Efraím decían: “Quiero pasar”, le preguntaban los galaaditas: “¿Eres tú efraimita?” y cuando respondía: “No”

6 Then said they vnto him, Say nowe Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for he could not so pronounce: then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iorden: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and fourtie thousand.

le decían: “Di: schibólet”; mas él decía: “sibólet”, pues no podía pronunciarlo bien. Entonces lo prendían y le degollaban junto a los vados del Jordán. Así murieron en aquel tiempo cuarenta y dos mil efraimitas.

7 And Iphtah iudged Israel sixe yeere: then dyed Iphtah the Gileadite, and was buryed in one of the cities of Gilead.

Jefté juzgó a Israel seis años. Luego murió Jefté galaadita y fue sepultado en una de las ciudades de Galaad.

8 After him Ibzan of Beth-lehem iudged Israel,

Después de él juzgó a Israel Abesán de Betlehem,

9 Who had thirtie sonnes and thirtie daughters, which he sent out, and tooke in thirtie daughters from abroade for his sonnes. and he iudged Israel seuen yeere.

el cual tuvo treinta hijos. Casó, además a su treinta hijas con gente de afuera y trajo de fuera treinta hijas para sus hijos. Juzgó a Israel durante siete años.

10 Then Ibzan died, and was buryed at Bethlehem.

Y murió Abesán y fue sepultado en Betlehem.

11 And after him iudged Israel Elon, a Zebulonite, and he iudged Israel tenne yeere.

Después de él juzgó a Israel Elón de Zabulón, el cual juzgó a Israel por espacio de diez años.

12 Then Elon the Zebulonite dyed, and was buryed in Aijalon in the countrey of Zebulun.

Y murió Elón de Zabulón y fue sepultado en Ayalón, en la tierra de Zabulón.

13 And after him Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite iudged Israel.

Después de él juzgó a Israel Abdón, hijo de Hilel de Faratón,

14 And he had fourty sonnes and thirtie nephewes that rode on seuentie assecoltes: and he iudged Israel eight yeeres.

el cual tuvo cuarenta hijos y treinta nietos, que cabalgaban sobre setenta pollinos. Juzgó a Israel por espacio de ocho años.

15 Then dyed Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite, and was buryed in Pirathon, in ye lande of Ephraim, in the Mount of the Amalekites.

Y murió Abdón, hijo de Hilel de Faratón y fue sepultado en Faratón, en la tierra de Efraím, en la montaña de los amalecitas.
