Joshua 7
1 But the children of Israel committed a trespasse in the excommunicate thing: for Achan the sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iuda tooke of the excommunicate thing: wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.
De az Izráel fiai hűtlenül bántak vala a teljesen Istennek szentelt dolgokkal, mert elvőn a teljesen Istennek szentelt dolgokból Ákán, Kárminak fia (ki a Zabdi fia, ki a Zéra fia a Júda nemzetségéből); felgerjede azért az Úrnak haragja Izráel fiai ellen.
2 And Ioshua sent men from Iericho to Ai, which is beside Bethauen, on ye East side of Bethel, and spake vnto them, saying, Goe vp, and view the countrey. And ye men went vp, and viewed Ai,
Külde ugyanis Józsué férfiakat Jérikhóból, Aiba, a mely Bethaven mellett van, Bétheltől napkelet felé, és szóla nékik, mondván: Menjetek fel és kémleljétek ki azt a földet. És felmenének a férfiak és kikémlelék Ait.
3 And returned to Ioshua, and saide vnto him, Let not al the people go vp, but let as it were two or three thousand men go vp, and smite Ai, and make not al the people to labour thither, for they are fewe.
Majd visszatérének Józsuéhoz, és mondának néki: Ne menjen fel az egész nép; mintegy kétezer férfi, vagy mintegy háromezer férfi menjen fel, és megverik Ait. Ne fáraszd oda az egész népet, hiszen kevesen vannak azok!
4 So there went vp thither of the people about three thousande men, and they fledde before the men of Ai.
Felméne azért oda a népből mintegy háromezer férfi; de elfutának Ai férfiai elől.
5 And the men of Ai smote of them vpon a thirtie and sixe men: for they chased them from before the gate vnto Shebarim, and smote them in the going downe: wherfore the heartes of the people melted away like water.
És megölének közülök Ai férfiai mintegy harminczhat férfit, és üldözék őket a kaputól kezdve egész Sébarimig, és levágták őket a lejtőn. Azért megolvada a népnek szíve, és lőn olyanná, mint a víz.
6 Then Ioshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth vpon his face before the Arke of the Lord, vntill the euentide, he, and the Elders of Israel, and put dust vpon their heads.
Józsué pedig megszaggatá az ő ruháit, és földre borula arczczal az Úrnak ládája előtt mind estvéig, ő és Izráel vénei, és port hintének a fejökre.
7 And Ioshua said, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore hast thou brought this people ouer Iorden, to deliuer vs into the hande of the Amorites, and to destroye vs? would God we had bene content to dwell on the other side Iorden.
És monda Józsué: Ah Uram Istenem! Miért is hozád által ezt a népet a Jordánon, hogyha az Emoreus kezébe adsz minket, hogy elveszítsen? Vajha úgy akartuk volna, hogy maradtunk volna túl a Jordánon!
8 Oh Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turne their backes before their enemies?
Óh Uram! mit mondjak, miután meghátrált Izráel az ő ellenségei előtt!
9 For the Canaanites, and all the inhabitants of the land shall heare of it, and shall compasse vs, and destroy our name out of the earth: and what wilt thou doe vnto thy mightie Name?
Ha meghallják a Kananeusok és e földnek minden lakói, és ellenünk fordulnak, és kiirtják nevünket e földről: mit cselekszel majd a te nagy nevedért?
10 And the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Get thee vp: wherefore lyest thou thus vpon thy face?
És monda az Úr Józsuénak: Kelj fel! Miért is borulsz te arczra?
11 Israel hath sinned, and they haue transgressed my couenant, which I commanded them: for they haue euen taken of the excommunicate thing, and haue also stollen, and dissembled also, and haue put it euen with their owne stuffe.
Vétkezett Izráel, és általhágták szövetségemet is, a melyet rendeltem nékik, mert elvettek a teljesen nékem szentelt dolgokból is, és loptak is és hazudtak is, és edényeik közé is dugdostak.
12 Therefore ye children of Israel cannot stand before their enemies, but haue turned their backes before their enemies, because they be execrable: neither will I bee with you any more, except ye destroy the excommunicate from among you.
Ezért nem bírtak megállni Izráel fiai az ő ellenségeik előtt, hátat fordítottak ellenségeiknek, mert átkozottakká lettek. Nem leszek többé veletek, ha ki nem vesztitek magatok közül azt a nékem szentelt dolgot.
13 Vp therefore, sanctifie the people, and say, Sanctifie your selues against to morowe: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an execrable thing among you, O Israel, therefore ye cannot stand against your enemies, vntill ye haue put the execrable thing from among you.
Kelj fel, és tisztítsd meg a népet, és mondjad: Tisztítsátok meg magatokat holnapra, mert ezt mondá az Úr, Izráelnek Istene: Istennek szentelt dolog van közötted, Izráel! Nem állhatsz meg a te ellenségeid előtt, míg el nem távolítjátok közületek az Istennek szentelt dolgot.
14 In the morning therefore ye shall come according to your tribes, and the tribe which the Lord taketh, shall come according to the families: and the familie which the Lord shall take, shall come by the housholds: and the houshold which the Lord shall take, shall come man by man.
Azért jőjjetek elő reggel nemzetségeitek szerint; a nemzetség pedig, a melyet bűnösnek jelent az Úr, jőjjön elő családonként; a család pedig, a melyet bűnösnek jelent az Úr, jőjjön elő házanként, a ház pedig, a melyet bűnösnek jelent az Úr, jőjjön elő férfianként.
15 And he that is taken with the excommunicate thing, shall be burnt with fire, hee, and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the couenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
És lészen, hogy a ki az Istennek szentelt dologban bűnösnek találtatik, tűzzel égettessék meg, ő és mindene, a mije van, mivelhogy megszegte az Úrnak szövetségét, és mivel alávaló dolgot cselekedett Izráelben.
16 So Ioshua rose vp earely in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes: and the tribe of Iudah was taken.
Felkele azért Józsué és jó reggel előállítá Izráelt az ő nemzetségei szerint, és bűnösnek jelenteték a Júda nemzetsége.
17 And he brought the families of Iudah, and tooke the familie of the Zarhites, and he brought the familie of the Zarhites, man by man, and Zabdi was taken.
Ekkor előállítá a Júda családjait, és bűnösnek jelenteték a Zéra családja; azután előállítá a Zéra családját férfianként, és bűnösnek jelenteték a Zabdi háza.
18 And he brought his houshold, man by man, and Achan ye sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iudah was take.
És előállítá az ő házát férfianként, és bűnösnek találtaték Ákán, Kárminak fia, a ki Zabdi fia, a ki a Júda nemzetségéből való Zérának fia.
19 Then Ioshua said vnto Achan, My sonne, I beseech thee, giue glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession vnto him, and shewe me now what thou hast done: hide it not from me.
Monda azért Józsué Ákánnak: Fiam, adj dicsőséget, kérlek, az Úrnak, Izráel Istenének, és tégy néki vallást, és add tudtomra, kérlek, nékem, mit cselekedtél, és el ne titkoljad tőlem!
20 And Achan answered Ioshua, and saide, In deede, I haue sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and thus, and thus haue I done.
Ákán pedig felele Józsuénak, és monda: Bizony én vétkeztem az Úr ellen, Izráel Istene ellen, és ezt s ezt cselekedtem!
21 I sawe among the spoyle a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundreth shekels of siluer, and a wedge of golde of fiftie shekels weight, and I coueted them, and tooke them: and behold, they lye hid in the earth in the mids of my tent, and the siluer vnder it.
Láték ugyanis a zsákmány közt egy jó babiloni köntöst, kétszáz siklus ezüstöt és egy arany vesszőt, a melynek súlya ötven siklus vala, és megkivántam ezeket, és elvevém ezeket, és ímé elrejtve vannak a földben, a sátoromnak közepében, az ezüst pedig alatta van.
22 Then Ioshua sent messengers, which ran vnto the tent, and beholde, it was hid in his tent, and the siluer vnder it.
Ekkor követeket külde Józsué s ezek a sátorba futának, és ímé, elrejtve vala az az ő sátorában, és az ezüst is alatta vala.
23 Therefore they tooke them out of the tent, and brought them vnto Ioshua, and vnto all the children of Israel, and layd them before the Lord.
Kivivék azért azokat a sátor közepéből, és vivék Józsuéhoz és Izráelnek minden fiához, és lerakák azokat az Úr előtt.
24 Then Ioshua tooke Achan the sonne of Zerah, and the siluer, and the garment and the wedge of golde and his sonnes, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheepe, and his tent, and all that hee had: and all Israel with him brought them vnto the valley of Achor.
Józsué pedig fogá Ákánt, a Zéra fiát, az ezüstöt, a köntöst és az aranyvesszőt, az ő fiait és leányait, az ő ökreit, szamarait és juhait, sátorát és mindent, a mije vala, és vele lévén az egész Izráel is, vivék azokat Akor völgyébe.
25 And Ioshua said, In as much as thou hast troubled vs, the Lord shall trouble thee this day: and all Israel threwe stones at him, and burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.
És monda Józsué: Miért rontottál meg minket? Rontson meg téged e napon az Úr! És elborítá őt egész Izráel kövekkel, és megégeték őket tűzzel, miután megkövezték vala őket.
26 And they cast vpon him a great heape of stones vnto this day: and so the Lord turned from his fierce wrath: therefore hee called the name of that place, The valley of Achor, vnto this day.
És nagy kőhalmot rakának feléje; megvan mind e napig. És megszűnék az Úr haragjának gerjedezése. Ezért nevezik ezt a helyet Akor völgyének mind e napig.
