Joshua 5

1 Nowe when all the Kings of the Amorites, which were beyond Iorden Westward, and all the Kinges of the Canaanites which were by the Sea, heard that the Lord had dried vp the waters of Iorden before the children of Israel vntill they were gone ouer, their heart fainted: and there was no courage in them any more because of the children of Israel.

Todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitaban a la otra parte del Jordán, hacia el occidente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que habitaban junto al mar, cuando oyeron que Yahvé había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que hubieron pasado, se desmayaron en su corazón y ya no quedó en ellos aliento, por miedo a los hijos de Israel.

2 That same time the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Make thee sharpe kniues, and returne, and circumcise the sonnes of Israel the second time.

En aquel tiempo dijo Yahvé a Josué: “Hazte cuchillos de piedra y vuelve a circuncidar a los hijos de Israel por segunda vez.”

3 Then Ioshua made him sharpe kniues and circumcised the sonnes of Israel in the hill of the foreskinnes.

Hízose Josué cuchillos de piedra y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en el collado de Aralot.

4 And this is the cause why Ioshua circumcised all the people, euen the males that came out of Egypt, because all the men of warre were dead in the wildernesse by the way after they came out of Egypt.

He aquí la causa porque Josué los circuncidó: Todo el pueblo que había salido de Egipto, los varones, todos los hombres de guerra, habían muerto en el desierto, en el camino, cuando salieron de Egipto.

5 For all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were borne in the wildernes by the way after they came out of Egypt, were not circumcised.

Todo ese pueblo que salió (de Egipto) había sido circuncidado; pero no lo estaba ninguno del pueblo nacido en el desierto, en el camino, después de la salida de Egipto.

6 For the children of Israel walked fourtie yeres in the wildernes, till all the people of the men of warre that came out of Egypt were consumed, because they obeyed not the voyce of the Lord: vnto whome the Lord sware, that he would not shewe them the lande, which the Lord had sworne vnto their fathers, that he would giue vs, euen a land that floweth with milke and hony.

Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta perecer todo el pueblo, los hombres de guerra salidos de Egipto, por no haber obedecido la voz de Yahvé. A ellos Yahvé les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra que con juramento había prometido a sus padres que nos la daría, tierra que mana leche y miel.

7 So their sonnes whome he raysed vp in their steade, Ioshua circumcised: for they were vncircumcised, because they circumcised them not by the way.

A los hijos de aquellos que Él había suscitado en su lugar, los circuncidó Josué, porque eran incircuncisos; pues no los habían circuncidado en el camino.

8 And when they had made an ende of circumcising al the people, they abode in the places in the campe till they were whole.

Después que todo el pueblo fue circuncidado, se quedaron en su lugar, dentro del campamento, hasta que sanaron.

9 After, the Lord said vnto Ioshua, This day I haue taken away the shame of Egypt from you: wherefore he called the name of that place Gilgal, vnto this day.

Dijo entonces Yahvé a Josué: “Hoy he quitado de sobre vosotros el oprobio de Egipto.” Y se llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Gálgala hasta el día de hoy.

10 So the children of Israel abode in Gilgal, and kept ye feast of the Passeouer the fourteenth day of the moneth at euen in ye plaine of Iericho.

Acamparon los hijos de Israel en Gálgala y celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes, por la tarde, en la llanura de Jericó.

11 And they did eat of the corne of the land, on the morow after the Passeouer, vnleauened breade, and parched corne in the same day.

Y comieron de los productos del país desde el día siguiente a la Pascua; en aquel mismo día (comieron) panes ácimos y trigo tostado.

12 And the MAN ceased on the morowe after they had eaten of the corne of the land, neither had the children of Israel MAN any more, but did eate of the fruite of the land of Canaan that yeere.

Al día siguiente de comer de los productos del país, cesó el maná, y en adelante los hijos de Israel ya no tuvieron el maná, sino que comieron en aquel año de los frutos del país de Canaán.

13 And when Ioshua was by Iericho, he lift vp his eyes and looked: and behold, there stood a man against him, hauing a sword drawen in his hand: and Ioshua went vnto him, and said vnto him, Art thou on our side, or on our aduersaries?

Estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó los ojos y miró; y he aquí que estaba en pie delante de él un hombre con la espada desenvainada en la mano. Se le acercó Josué y le preguntó: “¿Eres tú de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos?”

14 And he said, Nay, but as a captaine of the host of the Lord am I nowe come: then Ioshua fel on his face to the earth, and did worship, and saide vnto him, What sayth my Lord vnto his seruant?

Él respondió: “No, sino que soy el príncipe del ejército de Yahvé, que acabo de llegar.” Entonces Josué cayó en tierra sobre su rostro, y adoró. Y le preguntó: “¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo?”

15 And the captaine of ye Lords host said vnto Ioshua, Loose thy shoe of thy foote: for ye place wheron thou standest, is holy: and Ioshua did so.

El príncipe del ejército de Yahvé dijo a Josué: “Quítate el calzado de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo.” Y Josué lo hizo así.
