Joshua 22
1 Then Ioshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the halfe tribe of Manasseh,
Entonces llamó Josué a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés,
2 And sayd vnto them, Ye haue kept all that Moses the seruaunt of the Lord commanded you, and haue obeied my voice in all that I commanded you:
y les dijo: “Vosotros habéis cumplido todo lo que os mandó Moisés, siervo de Yahvé; y habéis escuchado también mi voz en todo lo que os he mandado.
3 You haue not forsaken your brethren this long season vnto this day, but haue diligently kept the commandement of the Lord your God.
No habéis abandonado a vuestros hermanos durante este largo tiempo hasta hoy, sino que habéis guardado escrupulosamente el mandamiento de Yahvé, vuestro Dios.
4 And nowe the Lord hath giuen rest vnto your brethren as he promised them: therefore nowe returne ye and goe to your tentes, to the land of your possession, which Moses the seruant of the Lord hath giuen you beyond Iorden.
Ahora, pues, ya que Yahvé vuestro Dios ha concedido descanso a vuestros hermanos, como les prometió, volveos e id a vuestras tiendas, al país de vuestra posesión, que os dio Moisés, siervo de Yahvé, al otro lado del Jordán.
5 But take diligent heede, to doe the commandement and Lawe, which Moses the seruant of the Lord commanded you: that is, that ye loue the Lord your God, and walke in all his wayes, and keepe his commandements, and cleaue vnto him, and serue him with all your heart and with all your soule.
Pero cuidad bien de poner en práctica los preceptos y la Ley que Moisés, siervo de Yahvé, os ha prescrito (y que consiste en) amar a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, caminar en todos sus caminos y observar sus mandamientos, adhiriéndoos a Él y sirviéndole de todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma.”
6 So Ioshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went vnto their tents.
Luego Josué los bendijo y los despidió, y ellos se fueron a sus tiendas.
7 Nowe vnto one halfe of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had giuen a possession in Bashan: and vnto the other halfe thereof gaue Ioshua among their brethren on this side Iorden Westwarde: therefore when Ioshua sent them away vnto their tents, and blessed them,
Moisés había dado a la mitad de la tribu de Manasés (posesión) en Basan, mas a la otra mitad se la dio Josué entre sus hermanos en este lado del Jordán, al occidente. Josué los bendijo al remitirlos a sus tiendas,
8 Thus he spake vnto them, saying, Returne with much riches vnto your tents, and with a great multitude of cattell, with siluer and with golde, with brasse and with yron, and with great abundance of rayment: deuide the spoyle of your enemies with your brethren.
y les habló, diciendo: “Volveos a vuestras tiendas con grandes riquezas y con muchísimo ganado; con plata, oro, bronce, hierro y ropa en abundancia. Pero partid con vuestros hermanos los despojos de vuestros enemigos.”
9 So the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and halfe the tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel from Shiloh (which is in the land of Canaan) to goe vnto the countrey of Gilead to the land of their possession, which they had obteyned, according to ye word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
Con esto los hijos de Rubén, los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés se volvieron, despidiéndose de los hijos de Israel en Silo, que está en el país de Canaán, para irse al país de Galaad, la tierra de su posesión, que habían recibido por Moisés según la orden de Yahvé.
10 And when they came vnto the borders of Iorden (which are in the land of Canaan) then the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the halfe tribe of Manasseh, built there an altar by Iorden, a great altar to see to.
Llegados que hubieron a los distritos del Jordán, que pertenecen a la tierra de Canaán, los hijos de Rubén, los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés edificaron allí, junto al Jordán, un altar, un altar grande y magnífico.
11 When the children of Israel heard say, Beholde, the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the halfe tribe of Manasseh haue built an altar in the forefront of the lande of Canaan vpon the borders of Iorden at the passage of the children of Israel:
Y se les dijo a los hijos de Israel: “Mirad que los hijos de Rubén, los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés han edificado ese altar en la frontera de la tierra de Canaán, en los distritos del Jordán, en la ribera de los hijos de Israel.”
12 When the children of Israel heard it, then the whole Congregation of the children of Israel gathered them together at Shiloh to goe vp to warre against them.
Al oír esto los hijos de Israel, se reunió toda la Congregación de los hijos de Israel en Silo, para salir contra ellos y hacerles la guerra.
13 Then the children of Israel sent vnto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to ye halfe tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar the Priest,
Pero (primero) enviaron los hijos de Israel a Finés, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, hacia los hijos de Rubén, hacia los hijos de Gad y hacia la media tribu de Manasés en el país de Galaad,
14 And with him ten princes, of euery chiefe house a prince, according to all the tribes of Israel: for euery one was chiefe of their fathers housholde among the thousands of Israel.
y con él diez príncipes, un príncipe de las casas paternas de cada tribu de Israel; eran todos ellos cabezas de sus casas paternas, entre los millares de Israel.
15 So they went vnto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the halfe tribe of Manasseh, vnto the land of Gilead, and spake with them, saying,
Los cuales fueron a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad y a la media tribu de Manasés, en el país de Galaad, y hablaron con ellos en estos términos:
16 Thus saith the whole congregation of the Lord, What transgression is this that ye haue transgressed against the God of Israel, to turne away this day from the Lord, in that ye haue built you an altar for to rebell this day against the Lord?
“Así dice toda la Congregación de Yahvé: ¿Qué infidelidad es esta que habéis cometido contra el Dios de Israel, apartándoos ahora de Yahvé, y edificándoos un altar, para rebelaros hoy contra Yahvé?
17 Haue we too litle for the wickednesse of Peor, whereof we are not clensed vnto this day, though a plague came vpon the Congregation of the Lord?
¿Acaso no nos basta la maldad de Fegor, de la cual hasta hoy no nos hemos purificado, aunque hubo castigo de la Congregación de Yahvé?
18 Ye also are turned away this day from the Lord: and seeing ye rebell to day against ye Lord, euen to morowe he will be wroth with all the Congregation of Israel.
¡Y ahora vosotros os apartáis de Yahvé! Si vosotros hoy os rebeláis contra Yahvé, se encenderá mañana su ira contra toda la Congregación de Israel.
19 Notwithstanding if the land of your possession be vncleane, come ye ouer vnto the land of the possession of the Lord, wherein the Lordes Tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among vs: but rebell not against the Lord, nor rebell not against vs in building you an altar, beside the altar of the Lord our God.
Si la tierra de vuestra posesión es inmunda, pasaos a la tierra de la posesión de Yahvé, donde está el Tabernáculo de Yahvé, y tomad posesión en medio de nosotros; pero no os rebeléis contra Yahvé, ni contra nosotros, edificándoos un altar, fuera del altar de Yahvé, nuestro Dios.
20 Did not Achan ye sonne of Zerah trespasse grieuously in the execrable thing, and wrath fell on all the Congregation of Israel? and this man alone perished not in his wickednesse.
¿No cometió Acán, hijo de Zare, maldad respecto de las cosas consagradas al anatema, y sobre toda la Congregación de Israel descargó la ira? Y no solamente él pereció por su iniquidad.”
21 Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad, and halfe the tribe of Manasseh answered, and saide vnto the heads ouer the thousands of Israel,
Respondieron los hijos de Rubén, los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés y dijeron a los jefes de los millares de Israel:
22 The Lord God of gods, the Lord God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel himselfe shall know: if by rebellion, or by transgression against ye Lord we haue done it, saue thou vs not this day.
“El supremo Dios, Yahvé, sí, el supremo Dios, Yahvé, Él lo sabe, y lo sepa también Israel: si ha sido por rebelión, o por infidelidad contra Yahvé, no haya hoy salvación para nosotros.
23 If we haue built vs an altar to returne away from the Lord, either to offer thereon burnt offering, or meate offering, or to offer peace offerings thereon, let the Lord himselfe require it:
Si nos hemos edificado un altar para apartarnos de Yahvé, para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos y oblaciones, y para presentar allí sacrificios pacíficos, que Yahvé nos demande.
24 And if we haue not rather done it for feare of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might say vnto our children, What haue ye to doe with the Lord God of Israel?
Muy al contrario, hicimos esto por la siguiente preocupación: Él día de mañana vuestros hijos hablarán, tal vez, a nuestros hijos, diciendo: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros que ver con Yahvé, el Dios de Israel?
25 For the Lord hath made Iorden a border betweene vs and you, ye children of Reuben, and of Gad: therefore ye haue no part in the Lord: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the Lord.
Yahvé ha puesto el Jordán como frontera entre nosotros y vosotros, oh hijos de Rubén e hijos de Gad; vosotros no tenéis parte con Yahvé. Con esto vuestros hijos podrían extinguir en nuestros hijos el temor de Yahvé.
26 Therefore we said, We will nowe go about to make vs an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice,
Por lo cual dijimos: Pongámonos a erigir ese altar, no para holocaustos, ni para sacrificios,
27 But it shall be a witnesse betweene vs and you, and betweene our generations after vs, to execute the seruice of the Lord before him in our burnt offerings, and in our sacrifices, and in our peace offerings, and that your children should not say to our children in time to come, Ye haue no part in the Lord.
sino como testimonio entre nosotros y vosotros, y entre nuestros descendientes después de nosotros, para poder servir a Yahvé delante de Él, con nuestros holocaustos, con nuestras víctimas y con nuestros sacrificios pacíficos; de modo que vuestros hijos no podrán decir el día de mañana a nuestros hijos: No tenéis parte en Yahvé.
28 Therefore said we, If so be that they should so say to vs or to our generations in time to come, then will we answere, Beholde the facion of the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice, but it is a witnesse betweene vs and you.
Dijimos pues: Si el día de mañana dijeran esto a nosotros, o a nuestros descendientes, responderíamos: Mirad la figura del altar de Yahvé que hicieron nuestros padres, no para holocaustos, ni para sacrificios, sino para que sea testimonio entre nosotros y vosotros.
29 God forbid, that we should rebell against the Lord, and turne this day away from the Lord to builde an altar for burnt offering, or for meate offering, or for sacrifice, saue the altar of the Lord our God, that is before his Tabernacle.
¡Lejos sea de nosotros el que nos rebelemos contra Yahvé, o que nos apartemos hoy de Yahvé, edificando un altar para holocaustos, oblaciones y sacrificios, fuera del altar de Yahvé, nuestro Dios, que está delante de su Tabernáculo!”
30 And when Phinehas the Priest, and the princes of the Congregation and heads ouer the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the wordes, that the children of Reuben, and children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh spake, they were well content.
Cuando el sacerdote Finés, los príncipes de la Congregación, y los jefes de los millares de Israel que estaban con él, oyeron las palabras de los hijos de Rubén, de los hijos de Gad y de los hijos de Manasés, se tranquilizaron;
31 And Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar the Priest said vnto the children of Reuben and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceiue, that the Lord is among vs, because ye haue not done this trespasse against the Lord: nowe ye haue deliuered the children of Israel out of the hand of the Lord.
y dijo Finés, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Manasés: “Ahora sabemos que Yahvé está en medio de nosotros, puesto que no habéis cometido tal infidelidad contra Yahvé. Así habéis librado a los hijos de Israel de la mano de Yahvé.”
32 Then Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar the Priest with the princes returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, vnto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them answere.
Después Finés, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, y los príncipes dejaron a los hijos de Rubén y a los hijos de Gad y se volvieron de la tierra de Galaad a la tierra de Canaán, a los hijos de Israel, para darles respuesta.
33 And the saying pleased the children of Israel: and the children of Israel blessed God, and minded not to goe against them in battell, for to destroy the land, wherein the children of Reuben, and Gad dwelt.
Y quedaron satisfechos los hijos de Israel, los cuales bendijeron a Dios y no hablaron más de salir contra ellos en guerra, para devastar la tierra que habitaban los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad.
34 Then the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witnesse betweene vs, that the Lord is God.
Y los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad pusieron por título al altar que habían construido: “Testimonio entre nosotros de que Yahvé es Dios.”
