Joshua 21
1 Then came the principall fathers of the Leuites vnto Eleazar the Priest, and vnto Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and vnto the chiefe fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel,
Les chefs de familles des Lévites se présentèrent devant le pontife Eléazar, Josué, fils de Noun, et les chefs de familles des tribus d’Israël,
2 And spake vnto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lord commanded by the hande of Moses, to giue vs cities to dwell in, with the suburbes thereof for our cattell.
à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, et leur parlèrent ainsi: "L’Eternel a ordonné, par l’organe de Moïse, qu’on nous donnât des villes pour y habiter, ainsi que leurs banlieues pour notre bétail."
3 So the children of Israel gaue vnto the Leuites, out of their inheritance at the commandement of the Lord these cities with their suburbes.
Et les enfants d’Israël, se conformant à l’ordre du Seigneur, donnèrent aux Lévites, sur leurs parts de possession, les villes suivantes avec leurs ban-lieues.
4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron ye Priest, which were of the Leuites, had by lot, out of the tribe of Iudah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Beniamin thirteene cities.
On tira au sort pour les familles des Kehathites; et d’abord, les Lévites, descendants du pontife Aaron, obtinrent, par la voie du sort, dans les tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin, treize villes.
5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, tenne cities.
Le surplus des enfants de Kehath reçut au sort, dans les familles de la tribu d’Ephraïm, dans la tribu de Dan et dans la demi-tribu de Manassé, dix villes.
6 Also the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of ye tribe of Naphtali, and out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteene cities.
Les enfants de Gerson reçurent au sort, dans les familles de la tribu d’Issachar, dans celles d’Aser et de Nephtali, et dans la demi-tribu de Manassé en Basan, treize villes.
7 The children of Merari according to their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelue cities.
Les enfants de Merari, selon leurs familles, eurent de la tribu de Ruben, de celles de Gad et de Zabulon, douze villes.
8 So the children of Israel gaue by lot vnto the Leuites these cities with their suburbes, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses.
Les enfants d’Israël donnèrent ces villes avec leurs banlieues aux Lévites par la voie du sort, comme l’Eternel l’avait prescrit par l’organe de Moïse.
9 And they gaue out of the tribe of the children of Iudah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeo, these cities which are here named.
De la tribu de Juda et de celle de Siméon, l’on donna les villes suivantes, ainsi désignées nominativement,
10 And they were the childrens of Aaron being of the families of the Kohathites, and of the sonnes of Leui, (for theirs was the first lot)
pour appartenir aux descendants d’Aaron, d’entre les familles Kehathites, de la tribu de Lévi, à qui échut le premier lot.
11 So they gaue them Kiriath-arba of the father of Anok (which is Hebron) in the mountaine of Iudah, with the suburbes of the same round about it.
On leur donna donc la Cité d’Arba (père d’Anok), appelée aussi Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda, avec la banlieue d’alentour.
12 (But the lande of the citie, and the villages thereof, gaue they to Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh to be his possession)
Les champs et les bourgades dépendant de la ville, on les avait donnés comme propriété à Caleb, fils de Yefounné.
13 Thus they gaue to the children of Aaron the Priest, a citie of refuge for the slaier, euen Hebron with her suburbes, and Libnah with her suburbes,
Mais aux descendants du pontife Aaron l’on donna la ville même de Hébron avec sa banlieue comme ville de refuge pour le meurtrier; plus, Libna avec sa banlieue,
14 And Iattir with her suburbes, and Eshtemoa, and her suburbes,
Yattir avec sa banlieue, Echtemoa avec la sienne,
15 And Holon with her suburbes, and Debir with her suburbes,
Holôn avec sa banlieue, Debir avec la sienne,
16 And Ain with her suburbes, and Iuttah with her suburbes, Beth-shemesh with her suburbes: nine cities out of those two tribes.
Ayin avec sa banlieue, Youtta avec sa banlieue et Beth-Chémech avec la sienne: neuf villes, remises par les deux tribus en question.
17 And out of the tribe of Beniamin they gaue Gibeon with her suburbes, Geba with her suburbes,
Et de la tribu de Benjamin: Gabaon et sa banlieue, Ghéba et la sienne,
18 Anathoth with her suburbes, and Almon with her suburbes: foure cities.
Anatot et sa banlieue, Almôn et la sienne: quatre villes.
19 All the cities of the children of Aaron Priests, were thirteene cities with their suburbes.
Total des villes données aux prêtres descendants d’Aaron: treize villes, avec leurs banlieues.
20 But to the families of the children of Kohath of the Leuites, which were the rest of the children of Kohath (for the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim)
Quant aux familles lévitiques descendant de Kehath, formant le surplus des Kehathites, elles eurent au sort les villes suivantes de la tribu d’Ephraïm:
21 They gaue them the citie of refuge for the slaier, Shechem with her suburbes in mount Ephraim, and Gezer with her suburbes,
on leur donna la ville de refuge destinée au meurtrier, Sichem avec sa banlieue, dans la montagne d’Ephraïm; Ghézer, avec sa banlieue;
22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbes: foure cities.
Kibçaïm avec la sienne, Béthorôn avec la sienne: quatre villes.
23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbes, Gibethon with her suburbes,
Puis, de la tribu de Dan: Elteké et sa banlieue, Ghibetôn et sa banlieue.
24 Aiialon with her suburbes, Gath-rimmon with her suburbes: foure cities.
Ayyalôn et la sienne, Gath-Rimmôn et la sienne: quatre villes.
25 And out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbes, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbes: two cities.
Et de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Taanakh et sa banlieue, Gath-Rimmôn avec la sienne: deux villes.
26 All the cities for the other families of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbes.
En tout, dix villes avec leurs banlieues, pour le surplus des familles des Kehathites.
27 Also vnto the children of Gershon of the families of the Leuites, they gaue out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, the citie of refuge for the slaier, Golan in Bashan with her suburbes, and Beeshterah with her suburbes: two cities.
Les familles lévitiques descendant de Gerson reçurent: de la demi-tribu de Manassé, la ville de refuge Golân, dans le Basan, avec sa banlieue, et Beéchtera avec la sienne: deux villes.
28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbes, Dabereh with her suburbes,
De la tribu d’lssachar: Kichyôn avec sa banlieue, Daberath avec la sienne,
29 Iarmuth with her suburbes, En-gannim with her suburbes: foure cities.
Yarmout avec sa banlieue, En-Gannim avec la sienne: quatre villes.
30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbes, Abdon with her suburbes,
De la tribu d’Aser: Micheal et sa banlieue, Abdôn et la sienne,
31 Helkah with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbes: foure cities.
Helkath et sa banlieue, Rehob et la sienne: quatre villes.
32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the citie of refuge for the slaier, Kedesh in Galil with her suburbes, and Hammoth-dor with her suburbes, and Kartan with her suburbes: three cities.
Et de la tribu de Nephtali: la ville de refuge Kédech, en Galilée, avec sa banlieue; Hamot-Dor avec sa banlieue, Kartân avec la sienne: trois villes.
33 Al the cities of the Gershonites according to their families, were thirteene cities with their suburbes.
Total des villes des Gersonites, selon leurs familles: treize villes, avec leurs banlieues.
34 Also vnto the families of the children of Merari the rest of the Leuites, they gaue out of the tribe of Zebulun, Iokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbes,
Enfin, les familles descendant de Merari, formant le surplus des Lévites, reçurent de la tribu de Zabulon: Yokneam et sa banlieue, Karta et sa banlieue;
35 Dimnah with her suburbes, Nahalal, with her suburbes: foure cities.
Dimna et sa banlieue, Nahalal avec la sienne: quatre villes.
36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Iahazah with her suburbs,
Et de la tribu de Gad: la ville de refuge Ramoth, en Galaad, avec sa banlieue, Mahanaïm, avec la sienne;
37 Kedemoth with her suburbes, and Mephaath with her suburbes: foure cities.
Hesbon, avec sa banlieue; Yazer, avec la sienne: en tout quatre villes.
38 And out of the tribe of Gad they gaue for a citie of refuge for the slaier, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbes, and Mahanaim with her suburbes,
39 Heshbon with her suburbs, and Iazer with her suburbes: foure cities in all.
40 So all the cities of the children of Merari according to their families (which were the rest of the families of the Leuites) were by their lot, twelue cities.
Telles sont les villes échues aux familles des Merarites, formant le surplus des familles lévitiques; leur lot comportait donc douze villes.
41 And all the cities of the Leuites within the possession of the children of Israel, were eight and fourtie with their suburbes.
Toutes les villes appartenant aux Lévites parmi les possessions des Israélites se montaient ainsi à quarante-huit villes, indépendamment de leurs banlieues.
42 These cities lay euery one seuerallie with their suburbes round about them: so were all these cities.
Chacune de ces villes comprenait la banlieue qui lui sert de zone: règle uniforme pour toutes les villes en question.
43 So the Lord gaue vnto Israel all ye land, which hee had sworne to giue vnto their fathers: and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
Ainsi l’Eternel donna aux Israélites tout le pays qu’il avait promis par serment à leurs ancêtres; ils en prirent possession et s’y établirent.
44 Also the Lord gaue them rest rounde about according to all that hee had sworne vnto their fathers: and there stoode not a man of all their enemies before them: for the Lord deliuered all their enemies into their hand.
II les fit jouir d’une sécurité entière, comme il l’avait juré à leurs ancêtres; de tous leurs ennemis, pas un n’avait tenu devant eux: tous, Dieu les avait mis en leur pouvoir.
45 There failed nothing of all the good things, which the Lord hath sayde vnto the house of Israel, but all came to passe.
Aucune ne fit défaut de toutes les faveurs que l’Eternel avait promises à la maison d’Israël: toutes s’accomplirent.
