Joshua 11

1 And whe Iabin King of Hazor had heard this, then he sent to Iobab King of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

Als nun Jabin, der König von Hazor, Kunde davon erhielt, schickte er Gesandte an Jobab, den König von Madon, sowie an den König von Simron und an den König von Achsaph

2 And vnto the Kings that were by ye North in the mountaines and plaines toward the Southside of Cinneroth, and in the valleys, and in the borders of Dor Westward,

und an die Könige, die im Norden im Berglande sowie in der Jordanebene südlich vom See Genezareth und in der Niederung und im Hügelgelände von Dor gegen Westen wohnten,

3 And vnto the Canaanites, both by East, and by West, and vnto the Amorites, and Hittites, and Perizzites, and Iebusites in the mountaines, and vnto the Hiuites vnder Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

an die Kanaanäer gegen Osten und gegen Westen und an die Amoriter, Hethiter, Pherissiter und Jebusiter im Berglande und an die Hewiter am Fuß des Hermon in der Landschaft Mizpa.

4 And they came out and all their hostes with them, many people as the sande that is on the sea shore for multitude, with horses and charets exceeding many.

So zogen sie denn mit allen ihren Heeren ins Feld, ein Kriegsvolk unzählig wie der Sand am Meeresufer, auch mit sehr vielen Rossen und Streitwagen.

5 So all these Kings met together, and came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, for to fight against Israel.

Alle diese Könige, die sich verbündet hatten, rückten ins Feld und schlugen gemeinsam ihr Lager am Wasser von Merom auf, um den Israeliten eine Schlacht zu liefern.

6 Then the Lord sayd vnto Ioshua, Be not afrayd for them: for to morowe about this time will I deliuer them all slaine before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burne their charets with fire.

Da sagte der HERR zu Josua: »Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen! Denn morgen um diese Zeit will ich es fügen, daß sie alle erschlagen vor den Israeliten daliegen; ihre Rosse aber sollst du lähmen und ihre Streitwagen im Feuer verbrennen.«

7 Then came Ioshua and al the men of warre with him against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell vpon them.

Als dann Josua sie mit seiner ganzen Heeresmacht plötzlich am Wasser von Merom überfiel und sich auf sie warf,

8 And the Lord gaue them into the hand of Israel: and they smote them, and chased them vnto great Zidon, and vnto Misrephothmaim, and vnto the valley of Mizpeh Eastward, and smote them vntill they had none remaining of them.

gab der HERR sie in die Gewalt der Israeliten, so daß diese sie besiegten und bis Groß-Sidon und bis Misrephoth-Majim und bis in die Talebene von Mizpe gegen Osten verfolgten und ein Blutbad unter ihnen anrichteten, bis kein einziger von ihnen mehr übrig war.

9 And Ioshua did vnto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their charets with fire.

Josua verfuhr dann mit ihnen, wie der HERR ihm geboten hatte: ihre Rosse lähmte er, und ihre Kriegswagen verbrannte er im Feuer.

10 At that time also Ioshua turned backe, and tooke Hazor, and smote the King thereof with the sword: for Hazor before time was the head of all those kingdomes.

Dann machte Josua wieder kehrt zu jener Zeit, eroberte Hazor und ließ den dortigen König mit dem Schwert erschlagen; Hazor war nämlich ehedem die Hauptstadt aller jener Reiche.

11 Moreouer, they smote all the persons that were therein with the edge of the sworde, vtterly destroying all, leauing none aliue, and hee burnt Hazor with fire.

Sie machten dann die ganze dortige Einwohnerschaft mit der Schärfe des Schwertes nieder, indem sie den Bann an ihnen vollstreckten: nichts blieb übrig, was Odem hatte, und Hazor selbst ließ er in Flammen aufgehen.

12 So all ye cities of those Kings, and all the kings of them did Ioshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and vtterly destroyed them, as Moses the seruant of the Lord had commanded.

Alle Städte jener Könige samt allen ihren Königen brachte Josua in seine Gewalt; er schlug sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen, wie Mose, der Knecht Gottes, geboten hatte.

13 But Israel burnt none of the cities that stoode still in their strength, saue Hazor onely, that Ioshua burnt.

Jedoch alle Städte, die auf den dortigen Anhöhen lagen, verbrannten die Israeliten nicht, mit alleiniger Ausnahme von Hazor, das Josua in Flammen aufgehen ließ.

14 And all the spoyle of these cities and the cattel the children of Israel tooke for their praye, but they smote euery man with the edge of the sword vntill they had destroyed them, not leauing one aliue.

Alle Beute aber aus diesen Ortschaften und das Vieh nahmen die Israeliten für sich hin, doch alle Menschen machten sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes nieder bis zu völliger Vernichtung: sie verschonten nichts Lebendes.

15 As the Lord had commanded Moses his seruant, so did Moses commande Ioshua, and so did Ioshua: he left nothing vndone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses.

Wie der HERR seinem Knecht Mose geboten hatte, so hatte Mose es dem Josua zur Pflicht gemacht, und so führte Josua es auch aus: er ließ nicht das Geringste unbefolgt von allem, was der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.

16 So Ioshua tooke all this land of the mountaines, and all the South, and all the lande of Goshen, and the lowe countrey, and the plaine, and the mountaine of Israel, and the lowe countrey of the same,

So unterwarf Josua dieses ganze Land, nämlich das Bergland wie das ganze Südland, die ganze Landschaft Gosen, die Niederung, das Jordantal und das Bergland von Israel mit der dazugehörigen Niederung,

17 From the mount Halak, that goeth vp to Seir, euen vnto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon, vnder mount Hermon: and all their Kings he tooke, and smote them, and slewe them.

von dem kahlen Gebirge an, das sich nach Seir hin erhebt, bis nach Baal-Gad in der Talebene des Libanons am Fuße des Hermongebirges. Auch alle dortigen Könige bekam er in seine Gewalt: er schlug sie und ließ sie sterben.

18 Ioshua made warre long time with all those Kings,

Lange Zeit führte Josua mit allen diesen Königen Krieg.

19 Neither was there any citie that made peace with the children of Israel, saue those Hiuites that inhabited Gibeon: all other they tooke by battell.

Es gab keine Stadt, die sich freiwillig den Israeliten ergeben hätte, außer den Hewitern, die in Gibeon wohnten; alles andere mußten sie mit Waffengewalt erobern.

20 For it came of the Lord, to harden their heartes that they shoulde come against Israel in battell to the intent that they shoulde destroye them vtterly, and shewe them no mercie, but that they shoulde bring them to nought: as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Denn vom HERRN geschah es, daß er ihr Herz zum Krieg mit den Israeliten verhärtete, damit der Bann an ihnen vollstreckt werden könnte, ohne daß ihnen Gnade gewährt würde, vielmehr damit sie ausgerottet würden, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.

21 And that same season came Ioshua, and destroyed the Anakims out of the mountaines: as out of Hebron, out of Debir, out of Anab, and out of all the mountaines of Iudah, and out of all the mountaines of Israel: Ioshua destroyed them vtterly with their cities.

Zu jener Zeit zog Josua hin und vernichtete die Enakiter im Gebirge: in Hebron, in Debir, in Anab sowie im ganzen Berglande Juda und im ganzen Berglande Israel; an ihnen wie an ihren Ortschaften vollstreckte Josua den Bann.

22 There was no Anakim left in the lande of the children of Israel: onely in Azzah, in Gath, and in Ashdod were they left.

Es blieben keine Enakiter im Lande der Israeliten übrig; nur in Gaza, in Gath und in Asdod erhielten sich Reste von ihnen. –

23 So Ioshua tooke the whole land, according to all that the Lord had saide vnto Moses: and Ioshua gaue it for an inheritance vnto Israel according to their portion through their tribes: then the land was at rest without warre.

So eroberte denn Josua das ganze Land genau so, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, und Josua gab es den Israeliten zum Erbbesitz nach ihren Abteilungen in den einzelnen Stämmen; das Land bekam dann Ruhe vom Kriege.
