John 13
1 Nowe before the feast of the Passeouer, when Iesus knewe that his houre was come, that he should depart out of this world vnto the Father, forasmuch as he loued his owne which were in the world, vnto the end he loued them.
Avant la fête de la pâque, Jésus sachant que son heure était venue de passer de ce monde à son Père, comme il avait aimé les siens, qui étaient dans le monde, il les aima jusqu’à la fin.
2 And when supper was done (and that the deuill had now put in the heart of Iudas Iscariot, Simons sonne, to betray him)
Et le souper fini, lorsque déjà le diable avait mis dans le cœur de Judas fils de Simon Iscariote de le trahir;
3 Iesus knowing that the Father had giuen all things into his hands, and that he was come forth from God, and went to God,
Sachant que son Père lui avait remis toutes choses entre les mains, et qu’il était sorti de Dieu et retournait à Dieu,
4 He riseth from supper, and layeth aside his vpper garments, and tooke a towel, and girded himselfe.
Il se leva de table, posa ses vêtements, et ayant pris un linge, il s’en ceignit.
5 After that, hee powred water into a basen, and began to wash the disciples feete, and to wipe them with the towell, wherewith he was girded.
Ensuite il versa de l’eau dans un bassin, et commença à laver les pieds de ses disciples, et à les essuyer avec le linge dont il était ceint;
6 Then came he to Simon Peter, who sayd to him, Lord, doest thou wash my feete?
Il vint à Simon Pierre, et Pierre lui dit: Vous, Seigneur, vous me lavez les pieds?
7 Iesus answered and sayd vnto him, What I doe, thou knowest not nowe: but thou shalt knowe it hereafter.
Jésus répondit et lui dit: Tu ne sais pas maintenant ce que je fais; mais tu le sauras plus tard.
8 Peter said vnto him, Thou shalt neuer wash my feete. Iesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou shalt haue no part with me. (aiōn g165)
Pierre lui dit: Jamais vous ne me laverez les pieds. Jésus lui répondit: Si je ne te lave, tu n’auras point de part avec moi, (aiōn g165)
9 Simon Peter sayd vnto him, Lord, not my feete onely, but also the hands and the head.
Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, non seulement les pieds, mais encore les mains et la tête.
10 Iesus sayd to him, He that is washed, needeth not, saue to wash his feete, but is cleane euery whit: and ye are cleane, but not all.
Jésus lui dit: Celui qui a été lavé n’a besoin que de laver ses pieds, et il est entièrement pur. Vous aussi, vous êtes purs, mais non pas tous.
11 For hee knewe who should betray him: therefore sayd he, Ye are not all cleane.
Car il savait celui qui le trahirait; c’est pourquoi il dit: Vous n’êtes pas tous purs.
12 So after he had washed their feete, and had taken his garments, and was set downe againe, he sayd vnto them, Knowe ye what I haue done to you?
Après donc qu’il leur eut lavé les pieds, et qu’il eut repris ses vêtements, s’étant remis à table, il leur dit: Savez-vous ce que je viens de vous faire?
13 Ye call me Master, and Lord, and ye say well: for so am I.
Vous m’appelez vous-mêmes Maître et Seigneur; et vous dites bien, car je le suis.
14 If I then your Lord, and Master, haue washed your feete, ye also ought to wash one an others feete.
Si donc je vous ai lavé les pieds, moi votre Maître et votre Seigneur, vous devez, vous aussi, vous laver les pieds les uns aux autres.
15 For I haue giuen you an example, that ye should doe, euen as I haue done to you.
Car je vous ai donné l’exemple, afin que, comme je vous ai fait, vous fassiez aussi vous-mêmes.
16 Verely, verely I say vnto you, The seruant is not greater then his master, neither the ambassadour greater then he that sent him.
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, le serviteur n’est pas plus grand que son maître, ni l’apôtre plus grand que celui qui l’a envoyé.
17 If ye know these things, blessed are ye, if ye doe them.
Si vous savez ces choses, vous serez heureux, pourvu que vous les pratiquiez.
18 I speake not of you all: I know whom I haue chosen: but it is that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lift vp his heele against me.
Je ne dis pas ceci de vous tous; je sais bien ceux que j’ai choisis; mais c’est pour que s’accomplisse l’Ecriture: Celui qui mange le pain avec moi, lèvera contre moi son pied.
19 From henceforth tell I you before it come, that when it is come to passe, ye might beleeue that I am he.
Je vous le dis à présent, avant que cela arrive, afin que lorsque ce sera arrivé, vous me croyiez ce que je suis.
20 Verely, verely I say vnto you, If I send any, he that receiueth him, receiueth me, and hee that receiueth me, receiueth him that sent me.
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis: Qui reçoit celui que j’aurai envoyé, me reçoit; et qui me reçoit, reçoit celui qui m’a envoyé.
21 When Iesus had sayd these things, he was troubled in the Spirit, and testified, and said, Verely, verely I say vnto you, that one of you shall betray me.
Lorsqu’il eut dit ces choses, Jésus fut troublé en son esprit; puis il parla ouvertement et dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, un de vous me trahira.
22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
Les disciples donc se regardaient l’un l’autre, incertains de qui il parlait.
23 Nowe there was one of his disciples, which leaned on Iesus bosome, whom Iesus loued.
Or un des disciples de Jésus, que Jésus aimait, reposait sur son sein.
24 To him beckened therefore Simon Peter, that he should aske who it was of whom he spake.
Simon Pierre lui fit donc signe et lui dit: Qui est celui dont il parle?
25 He then, as he leaned on Iesus breast, saide vnto him, Lord, who is it?
C’est pourquoi ce disciple s’étant penché sur le sein de Jésus, lui dit: Seigneur, qui est-ce?
26 Iesus answered, He it is, to whome I shall giue a soppe, when I haue dipt it: and hee wet a soppe, and gaue it to Iudas Iscariot, Simons sonne.
Jésus répondit: C’est celui à qui je présenterai du pain trempé. Et ayant trempé du pain, il le donna à Judas Iscariote, fils de Simon.
27 And after the soppe, Satan entred into him. Then sayd Iesus vnto him, That thou doest, doe quickly.
Or après une bouchée, Satan entra en lui, et Jésus lui dit: Ce que tu fais, fais-le vite.
28 But none of them that were at table, knew, for what cause he spake it vnto him.
Mais aucun de ceux qui étaient à table ne sut pourquoi il lui dit cela.
29 For some of them thought because Iudas had the bag, that Iesus had sayd vnto him, Buy those things that we haue neede of against ye feast: or that he should giue some thing to the poore.
Car quelques-uns pensaient que comme Judas avait la bourse, Jésus lui avait dit: Achète ce dont nous avons besoin pour la fête, ou donne quelque chose aux pauvres.
30 Assoone then as he had receiued the soppe, he went immediately out, and it was night.
Judas ayant donc pris cette bouchée sortit aussitôt. Or il était nuit.
31 When hee was gone out, Iesus sayd, Nowe is the Sonne of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
Lorsqu’il fut sorti, Jésus dit: Maintenant le Fils de l’homme a été glorifié, et Dieu a été glorifié en lui.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorifie him in himselfe, and shall straightway glorifie him.
Si Dieu a été glorifié en lui, Dieu aussi le glorifiera en lui-même, et c’est bientôt qu’il le glorifiera.
33 Litle children, yet a litle while am I with you: ye shall seeke me, but as I sayde vnto the Iewes, Whither I goe, can ye not come: also to you say I nowe,
Mes petits enfants, je ne suis que pour peu de temps encore avec vous. Vous me chercherez, et comme j’ai dit aux Juifs: Où je vais, vous ne pouvez venir; je vous le dis aussi à vous maintenant.
34 A newe commandement giue I vnto you, that ye loue one another: as I haue loued you, that ye also loue one another.
Je vous donne un commandement nouveau: C’est que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres; mais que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres comme je vous ai aimés.
35 By this shall all men knowe that ye are my disciples, if ye haue loue one to another.
C’est en cela que tous connaîtront que vous êtes mes disciples, si vous avez de l’amour les uns pour les autres.
36 Simon Peter said vnto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Iesus answered him, Whither I goe, thou canst not follow me nowe: but thou shalt follow me afterward.
Simon Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, où allez-vous? Jésus répondit: Où je vais, tu ne peux me suivre à présent; mais tu me suivras ensuite.
37 Peter sayd vnto him, Lord, why can I not follow thee now? I will lay downe my life for thy sake.
Pierre lui dit: Pourquoi ne puis-je vous suivre à présent? Je donnerai mon âme pour vous.
38 Iesus answered him, Wilt thou lay downe thy life for my sake? Verely, verely I say vnto thee, The cocke shall not crowe, till thou haue denied me thrise.
Jésus lui répondit: Tu donneras ton âme pour moi? En vérité, en vérité, je te le dis, un coq ne chantera pas que tu ne m’aies renié trois fois.
