Joel 2

1 Blowe the trumpet in Zion, and shoute in mine holy mountaine: let all the inhabitants of the lande tremble: for the day of the Lord is come: for it is at hand.

Que suene la trompeta en Sion, y un grito de guerra en Sión; que tiemble todo el pueblo de la tierra, porque viene el día del Señor;

2 A day of darkenesse, and of blacknesse, a day of cloudes, and obscuritie, as the morning spred vpon the mountaines, so is there a great people, and a mighty: there was none like it from the beginning, neither shalbe any more after it, vnto the yeeres of many generations.

Porque se acerca un día de sombra oscura y profunda, un día de nubes y noche negra; como una nube negra, un pueblo grande y fuerte cubre las montañas; como la aurora, nunca ha habido ninguno como ellos y no lo habrá, de generación en generación.

3 A fire deuoureth before him, and behinde him a flame burneth vp: the land is as the garden of Eden before him, and behinde him a desolate wildernesse, so that nothing shall escape him.

Ante ellos, el fuego envía destrucción, y después de ellos arde la llama; la tierra es como el jardín del Edén, delante de ellos, y después de ellos un desierto no poblado; verdaderamente, nada se ha mantenido a salvo de ellos.

4 The beholding of him is like the sight of horses, and like the horsemen, so shall they runne.

Su aspecto es como el aspecto de los caballos, y corren como caballos de guerra.

5 Like the noyse of charrets in the toppes of the mountaines shall they leape, like the noyse of a flame of fire that deuoureth the stubble, and as a mightie people prepared to the battel.

Como el sonido de los carruajes de guerra, saltan a las cimas de las montañas; como el ruido de una llama de fuego que quema los tallos de los granos, como un pueblo fuerte en fila para la pelea.

6 Before his face shall the people tremble: all faces shall gather blackenesse.

Al llegar, las personas se doblan de dolor; todas las caras palidecen.

7 They shall runne like strong men, and goe vp to the wall like men of warre, and euery man shall goe forward in his wayes, and they shall not stay in their paths.

Corren como hombres fuertes, cruzan el muro como hombres de guerra; cada hombre sigue su camino, sus líneas no se rompen.

8 Neither shall one thrust another, but euery one shall walke in his path: and when they fall vpon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

Nadie está empujando contra otro; todo el mundo sigue su camino; atravesando el filo de la espada, su orden no se rompe.

9 They shall runne to and from in the citie: they shall runne vpon the wall: they shall clime vp vpon the houses, and enter in at ye windowes like ye thiefe.

Se apresuran en la ciudad, corriendo por la pared; suben a las casas y entran por las ventanas como un ladrón.

10 The earth shall tremble before him, ye heauens shall shake, the sunne and the moone shalbe darke, and the starres shall withdraw their shining,

La tierra está turbada ante ellos y los cielos tiemblan; el sol y la luna se han oscurecido, y las estrellas retienen su brillo.

11 And the Lord shall vtter his voyce before his hoste: for his hoste is very great: for he is strog that doeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can abide it?

Y el Señor da su voz delante de su ejército; porque muy grande es su ejército; porque él es fuerte y hace cumplir su palabra; porque el día del Señor es grande y muy temible, ¿y quién podrá resistirlo?

12 Therefore also now the Lord sayth, Turne you vnto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning,

Pero aun ahora, dice el Señor, vuelve a mí con todo tu corazón, con ayuno, con llanto y tristeza:

13 And rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turne vnto the Lord your God, for he is gratious, and mercifull, slowe to anger, and of great kindnes, and repenteth him of the euill.

Que se rompan sus corazones, y no tu ropa, y vuelve al Señor tu Dios; porque él está lleno de gracia y piedad, lento para enojarse y grande en misericordia, listo para ser apartado de su propósito de castigo.

14 Who knoweth, is he wil returne and repent and leaue a blessing behinde him, euen a meate offring, and a drinke offring vnto ye Lord your God?

¿Quién sabe si volverá y se apiade y les deje una bendición, incluso una ofrenda de cereales y una ofrenda de bebida para el Señor su Dios?

15 Blowe the trumpet in Zion, sanctifie a fast, call a solemne assembly.

Que suene un cuerno en Sión, que se fije un tiempo de ayuno, que tengan una reunión sagrada.

16 Gather the people: sanctifie the congregation, gather the elders: assemble the children, and those that sucke the breastes: let the bridegrome go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her bride chamber.

Reúnan a la gente, santifiquen la asamblea, envíen a buscar a los viejos, junten a los niños y los bebés de pecho. Que el hombre recién casado salga de su habitación y la novia de su tálamo.

17 Let the Priestes, the ministers of the Lord weepe betweene the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and giue not thine heritage into reproche that the heathen should rule ouer them. Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

Que los sacerdotes, los siervos del Señor, lloren entre el pórtico y el altar, y que digan: Ten piedad de tu pueblo, oh Señor, no entregues a tu herencia, al oprobio, a la burla de las naciones, para que las naciones se conviertan en sus gobernantes: ¿por qué dejarles decir entre los pueblos, dónde está su Dios?

18 Then will the Lord be ielous ouer his land, and spare his people.

Entonces el Señor se preocupó por el honor de su tierra y se compadeció de su pueblo.

19 Yea, the Lord wil answere and say vnto his people, Beholde, I will send you corne, and wine, and oyle, and you shalbe satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproche among the heathen,

Y el Señor responderá a su pueblo: Mira, te enviaré grano, vino y aceite, y se saciarán de ello, y nunca más los avergonzarán entre las naciones.

20 But I will remooue farre off from you the Northren armie, and I will driue him into a land, barren and desolate with his face toward the East sea, and his end to the vtmost sea, and his stinke shall come vp, and his corruption shall ascend, because he hath exalted himselfe to do this.

Enviaré al ejército del norte lejos de ti, llevándolo a una tierra seca y desierta, con su frente al mar del este y su espalda al mar del oeste, y su hedor subirá, incluso subirá su pudrición, porque hizo grandes cosas.

21 Feare not, O land, but be glad, and reioyce: for the Lord wil do great things.

No temas, tierra; alégrate con gran alegría; porque el Señor ha hecho grandes cosas.

22 Be not afrayde, ye beastes of the fielde: for the pastures of the wildernesse are greene: for the tree beareth her fruite: the figge tree and the vine do giue their force.

No tengan miedo, bestias del campo, porque los pastizales del desierto se están volviendo verdes, porque los árboles producen frutos, la higuera y la vid dan su fuerza.

23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and reioyce in the Lord your God: for he hath giuen you the rayne of righteousnes, he wil cause to come downe for you the rayne, euen the first raine, and the latter raine in the first moneth.

Alégrense, pues, hijos de Sión, y regocíjense en el Señor su Dios Supremo; porque les ha dado la lluvia temprana para su justicia, haciendo que llueva para ti, la lluvia temprana y tardía como al principio.

24 And the barnes shalbe full of wheate, and the presses shall abound with wine and oyle.

Y los pisos estarán llenos de grano, y los lugares de trituración rebosantes de vino y aceite.

25 And I will render you the yeeres that the grashopper hath eaten, the canker worme and the caterpiller and the palmer worme, my great hoste which I sent among you.

Te devolveré los años que fueron alimento para la langosta, el gusano de la planta, la mosca de campo y el gusano, mi gran ejército que envié contra ustedes.

26 So you shall eate and be satisfied and praise the Name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt marueilously with you: and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

Tendrán comida en toda medida, y alabarán el nombre del Señor su Dios, que ha hecho maravillas por ustedes.

27 Ye shall also know, that I am in the middes of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God and none other, and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

Y Sabrán de que estoy en Israel, y que soy el Señor su Dios, y no hay otro; y mi pueblo nunca será avergonzado.

28 And afterward will I powre out my Spirit vpon all flesh: and your sonnes and your daughters shall prophecie: your olde men shall dreame dreames, and your yong men shall see visions,

Y después de eso, sucederá, dice el Señor, que enviaré mi espíritu sobre toda carne; y tus hijos y tus hijas serán profetas, tus viejos tendrán sueños, tus jóvenes verán visiones.

29 And also vpon the seruants, and vpon the maydes in those dayes wil I powre my Spirit.

Y sobre los sirvientes y las sirvientas en aquellos días enviaré mi espíritu.

30 And I will shewe wonders in the heauens and in the earth: blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Y dejaré que se vean maravillas en los cielos y en la tierra, sangre, fuego y columnas de humo.

31 The sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.

El sol se oscurecerá y la luna se convertirá en sangre, antes de que llegue el gran día del Señor, un día temible.

32 But whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued: for in mount Zion, and in Ierusale shalbe deliuerance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.

Y será todo aquel que haga su oración al nombre del Señor, se mantendrá a salvo; porque en el Monte Sión y en Jerusalén, algunos se mantendrán a salvo, como ha dicho el Señor, y estarán entre los que han sido llamados por el Señor.
