Job 34
1 Moreouer Elihu answered, and saide,
Elihu hob dann wieder an und sagte:
2 Heare my wordes, ye wise men, and hearken vnto me, ye that haue knowledge.
»Vernehmt, ihr Weisen, meine Worte und, ihr Einsichtigen, schenkt mir Gehör!
3 For the eare tryeth the words, as the mouth tasteth meate.
denn das Ohr prüft die Worte, wie der Gaumen die Speisen kostet.
4 Let vs seeke iudgement among vs, and let vs knowe among our selues what is good.
Wir wollen doch prüfend das Recht finden, wollen gemeinsam erforschen, was gut ist.
5 For Iob hath saide, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my iudgement.
Denn Hiob hat behauptet: ›Ich bin gerecht, aber Gott hat mir mein Recht vorenthalten;
6 Should I lye in my right? my wound of the arrowe is grieuous without my sinne.
trotz meines Rechtes soll ich ein Lügner sein! Tödlich steckt sein Pfeil in mir, ohne daß ich mich verschuldet habe!‹«
7 What man is like Iob, that drinketh scornfulnesse like water?
»Wo ist ein Mann wie Hiob, der Lästerrede trinkt wie Wasser
8 Which goeth in the companie of them that worke iniquitie, and walketh with wicked men?
und in Gemeinschaft mit Übeltätern getreten ist und mit Frevlern Umgang pflegt?
9 For he hath saide, It profiteth a man nothing that he should walke with God.
Denn er hat behauptet: ›Der Mensch hat keinen Nutzen davon, daß er mit Gott die Freundschaft aufrecht hält.‹
10 Therefore hearken vnto me, ye men of wisedome, God forbid that wickednesse should be in God, and iniquitie in the Almightie.
Darum hört mich an, ihr einsichtsvollen Männer! Fern bleibe der Vorwurf von Gott, daß er Frevel verübe, und vom Allmächtigen, daß er Unrecht tue!
11 For he will render vnto man according to his worke, and cause euery one to finde according to his way.
Nein, was der Mensch tut, das vergilt er ihm und läßt es jedem nach seinem Lebenswandel ergehen.
12 And certainely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almightie peruert iudgement.
Ja wahrlich, Gott handelt nicht frevelhaft, und der Allmächtige beugt das Recht nicht.
13 Whome hath he appointed ouer the earth beside him selfe? or who hath placed the whole worlde?
Wer hat die Erde seiner Obhut anvertraut und wer den ganzen Erdkreis hergestellt?
14 If he set his heart vpon man, and gather vnto him selfe his spirit and his breath,
Wenn er nur an sich selbst dächte, seinen Geist und seinen Odem in sich zurückzöge,
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall returne vnto dust.
so müßte alles Fleisch insgesamt verscheiden und der Mensch wieder zu Staub werden.
16 And if thou hast vnderstanding, heare this and hearken to the voyce of my wordes.
Wenn du also verständig bist, so höre dies und gib wohl acht, wie meine Worte lauten!
17 Shal he that hateth iudgement, gouerne? and wilt thou iudge him wicked that is most iust?
Kann auch, wer das Recht haßt, ein Gemeinwesen leiten? Oder willst du den Allgerechten verdammen,
18 Wilt thou say vnto a King, Thou art wicked? or to princes, Ye are vngodly?
ihn, der zum Könige sagt: ›Du Nichtswürdiger!‹ und zu den Hochgestellten: ›Du Bösewicht!‹,
19 How much lesse to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, and regardeth not the rich, more then the poore? for they be all the worke of his handes.
ihn, der die Person der Fürsten nicht ansieht und den Vornehmen nicht vor dem Geringen bevorzugt, weil sie ja alle das Werk seiner Hände sind.
20 They shall die suddenly, and the people shalbe troubled at midnight, and they shall passe foorth and take away the mightie without hand.
In einem Augenblick sterben sie, und mitten in der Nacht wird ein Volk erschüttert und muß dahinfahren, und Machthaber beseitigt er, ohne die Hand zu rühren.
21 For his eyes are vpon the wayes of man, and he seeth all his goings.
Denn seine Augen sind auf die Wege eines jeden Menschen gerichtet, und er sieht alle seine Schritte:
22 There is no darkenesse nor shadowe of death, that the workers of iniquitie might be hid therein.
da gibt es kein Dunkel und keine noch so dichte Finsternis, daß die Frevler sich darin verbergen könnten.
23 For he will not lay on man so much, that he should enter into iudgement with God.
Denn er braucht einen Menschen nicht erst lange zu beobachten, damit er vor Gott zum Gericht erscheine:
24 He shall breake the mightie without seeking, and shall set vp other in their stead.
nein, er zerschmettert Gewalthaber ohne Untersuchung und läßt andere an ihre Stelle treten.
25 Therefore shall he declare their works: he shall turne the night, and they shalbe destroyed.
Somit kennt er ihre Taten wohl und stürzt sie über Nacht, so daß sie zermalmt werden.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the places of the seers,
Als Frevler, die sie sind, geißelt er sie vor aller Augen
27 Because they haue turned backe from him, and would not consider all his wayes:
zur Strafe dafür, daß sie von ihm abgefallen sind und alle seine Wege unbeachtet gelassen haben,
28 So that they haue caused the voyce of the poore to come vnto him, and he hath heard the cry of the afflicted.
so daß sie den Hilferuf des Armen zu ihm hinaufdringen ließen und er den Notschrei der Bedrückten vernehmen mußte.
29 And when he giueth quietnesse, who can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who can beholde him, whether it be vpon nations, or vpon a man onely?
Verhält er sich aber ruhig, wer darf ihn verdammen? Und verhüllt er sein Angesicht, wer kann ihn schauen? So waltet er sowohl über Völkern als auch über einzelnen Menschen gleicherweise,
30 Because the hypocrite doeth reigne, and because the people are snared.
damit nicht ruchlose Menschen die Herrschaft führen, Leute, welche Fallstricke für das Volk sein würden.«
31 Surely it appertaineth vnto God to say, I haue pardoned, I will not destroy.
»Denn soll etwa Gott zu dir sagen: ›Ich habe mich geirrt; will (aber) nicht wieder verkehrt handeln?
32 But if I see not, teach thou me: if I haue done wickedly, I will doe no more.
Über das, was ich nicht sehe, belehre du mich; wenn ich unrecht gehandelt habe, will ich es nicht wieder tun.‹
33 Wil he performe the thing through thee? for thou hast reproued it, because that thou hast chosen, and not I. now speake what thou knowest.
Soll er nach deinem Sinn Vergeltung üben, weil du unzufrieden bist, und sagen: ›Du hast das Bessere zu bestimmen, nicht ich; was du also weißt, das sprich aus!‹?
34 Let men of vnderstanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken vnto me.
Verständige Leute werden mir zugestehen und jeder weise Mann, der mir zuhört:
35 Iob hath not spoken of knowledge, neyther were his wordes according to wisedome.
›Hiob redet ohne Einsicht, und seine Worte sind nicht wohlbedacht.‹
36 I desire that Iob may be tryed, vnto the ende touching the answeres for wicked men.
O daß doch Hiob fort und fort geprüft würde wegen seiner Widerreden nach Art der Frevler!
37 For he addeth rebellion vnto his sinne: he clappeth his handes among vs, and multiplieth his wordes against God.
Denn zu seiner Verfehlung fügt er noch den Abfall (von Gott) hinzu: er höhnt laut in unserer Mitte und macht viel Redens gegen Gott.«
