Jeremiah 6

1 O ye children of Beniamin, prepare to flee out of the middes of Ierusalem, and blowe the trumpet in Tekoa: set vp a standart vpon Beth-haccerem: for a plague appeareth out of the North and great destruction.

ای اهالی بنیامین فرار کنید! برای نجات جانتان از اورشلیم بگریزید! در شهر تقوع شیپور خطر را به صدا درآورید، در بیت‌هکاریم نشانه‌های خطر را بر پا کنید، چون بلا و ویرانی عظیمی از سوی شمال به این سو می‌آید!

2 I haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.

من اورشلیم را نابود خواهم کرد شهری که مانند دختری زیبا و ظریف است.

3 The pastors with their flockes shall come vnto her: they shall pitche their tentes rounde about by her, and euery one shall feede in his place.

پادشاهان با سپاهیانشان گرداگرد آن خیمه خواهند زد و هر یک در هر کجا که بخواهند مستقر خواهند شد.

4 Prepare warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp toward the South: wo vnto vs: for the day declineth, and the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.

ببین، برای جنگ آماده می‌شوند. هنگام ظهر جنگ درمی‌گیرد و تمام بعد از ظهر به شدت ادامه می‌یابد تا شامگاه که هوا تاریک می‌شود.

5 Arise, and let vs goe vp by night, and destroy her palaces.

آنگاه می‌گویند: «بیایید در تاریکی شب حمله کنیم و تمام کاخهایش را از بین ببریم!»

6 For thus hath the Lord of hostes said, Hewe downe wood, and cast a mounte against Ierusalem: this citie must be visited: all oppression is in the middes of it.

خداوند لشکرهای آسمان چنین می‌فرماید: «درختانش را ببرید و با آن در مقابل اورشلیم سنگر بسازید. این شهر باید مجازات بشود، چون پر از ظلم است.

7 As the fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her malice: crueltie and spoyle is continually heard in her before me with sorowe and strokes.

همان‌طور که از چشمه، آب فوران می‌کند، از این شهر هم شرارت بیرون می‌جهد! فریاد ظلم و ستم در کوچه‌هایش طنین انداخته است. بیماری و زخمهای متعفن آن همواره در برابر دیدگانم می‌باشد.

8 Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate as a land, that none inhabiteth.

ای اهالی اورشلیم، از این سختیها درس عبرت بگیرید، و گرنه از شما بیزار شده، سرزمینتان را ویران خواهم کرد تا کسی نتواند در آن ساکن شود.»

9 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, They shall gather as a vine, the residue of Israel: turne backe thine hande as the grape gatherer into the baskets.

خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: «مانند درخت مویی که همۀ خوشه‌هایش چیده شده، قوم اسرائیل نیز خوشه‌چینی خواهد شد آن گونه که خوشه‌ای باقی نماند.»

10 Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.

من به خداوند گفتم: «چه کسی به سخنان و هشدارهای من گوش فرا خواهد داد؟ ایشان گوشهای خود را بسته‌اند و نمی‌خواهند بشنوند. کلام تو ایشان را ناراحت و خشمگین می‌سازد و نمی‌خواهند به گوششان برسد.

11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord: I am weary with holding it: I will powre it out vpon the children in the streete, and likewise vpon the assembly of the yong men: for the husband shall euen be taken with the wife, and the aged with him that is full of daies.

به سبب تمام این کارهای شرم‌آورشان من از خشم الهی لبریزم و دیگر نمی‌توانم تحمل کنم.» آنگاه خداوند فرمود: «خشم و غضب خود را بر سر اهالی اورشلیم خواهم ریخت بر کودکانی که در کوچه‌ها بازی می‌کنند، بر مجلس جوانان، بر زن و شوهرها، و بر سالخوردگان.

12 And their houses with their landes, and wiues also shalbe turned vnto strangers: for I will stretch out mine hande vpon the inhabitants of the land, sayeth the Lord.

زنان و خانه‌ها و مزرعه‌هایشان، همه به دست دشمن خواهند افتاد، چون من اهالی این سرزمین را تنبیه خواهم کرد.

13 For from the least of them, euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen vnto couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, they all deale falsely.

همگی ایشان از کوچک تا بزرگ، دروغگو بوده، به دنبال سود نامشروع می‌باشند، حتی انبیا و کاهنان نیز فریبکارند!

14 They haue healed also ye hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

آنها زخمهای قوم مرا می‌پوشانند گویی چیز چندان مهمی نیست. می‌گویند:”آرامش برقرار است!“در حالی که آرامشی وجود ندارد.

15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, no neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore they shall fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayth the Lord.

آیا قوم من از بت‌پرستی شرمنده‌اند؟ نه، ایشان بویی از شرم و حیا نبرده‌اند! از این رو، من ایشان را مجازات خواهم نمود و ایشان در میان کشتگان خواهند افتاد.»

16 Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.

با وجود این، خداوند چنین می‌فرماید: «بر سر جاده‌ها بایستید و بپرسید راه درست، یعنی راهی که خداشناسان در ایام قدیم می‌پیمودند، کدام است؛ شما نیز همان راه را دنبال نمایید تا در وجودتان آرامش بیابید. ولی شما جواب می‌دهید:”نه، ما این راه را پیروی نخواهیم کرد!“

17 Also I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.

بر شما نگهبانانی گماشتم تا به شما هشدار دهند که به صدای شیپور خطر گوش دهید، ولی شما گفتید:”گوش نخواهیم داد!“»

18 Heare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.

پس خداوند می‌گوید: «ای قومها بشنوید! ای گواهان بنگرید که بر سر ایشان چه خواهد آمد!

19 Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.

ای زمین گوش بده! من بر سر این قوم بلایی خواهم آورد که ثمرهٔ خیالات گناه‌آلود خودشان است، چون به کلام من گوش نمی‌دهند و دستورهای مرا زیر پا می‌گذارند.

20 To what purpose bringest thou mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me.

پس دیگر چه فایده‌ای دارد که از سرزمین سبا برای من بخور می‌آورند و از سرزمینهای دور دست، عطرهای گرانبها. من هدایای ایشان را نمی‌توانم بپذیرم؛ دیگر برایم خوشایند نیستند.

21 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will laie stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vpon them: the neighbour and his friende shall perish.

بنابراین من بر سر راه این قوم سنگهای لغزنده قرار خواهم داد تا پدران، پسران و دوستان و همسایگانشان بلغزند و هلاک شوند.»

22 Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall arise from the sides of the earth.

خداوند می‌فرماید: «از سرزمین شمال لشکری در حرکت است و قوم نیرومندی برای جنگ با شما برخاسته‌اند.

23 With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: they are cruell and will haue no compassion: their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre against thee, O daughter Zion.

ایشان به کمان و نیزه مسلحند، سنگدل و بی‌رحم هستند و وقتی بر اسبهای خود سوار می‌شوند، صدایشان مانند خروش دریاست! آنها برای جنگ با اورشلیم مهیا شده‌اند.»

24 We haue heard their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in trauaile.

مردم اورشلیم می‌گویند: «این خبرها را شنیده‌ایم، برای همین دستهایمان لرزان شده و مانند زنی که در حال زاییدن است، دچار هراس و دردیم.

25 Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.

جرأت نداریم به صحرا برویم و یا در جاده‌ها قدم بگذاریم، چون دشمن ما مسلح است! ترس از هر سو ما را فرا گرفته است!»

26 O daughter of my people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs.

خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای قوم من، لباس ماتم بر تن کن و به عزا بنشین؛ مانند کسی که در مرگ تنها پسرش به عزا نشسته، به تلخی سوگواری کن، چون سربازان غارتگر، ناگهان بر تو هجوم خواهند آورد.

27 I haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their waies.

«ای ارمیا، من تو را سنگ محک قرار داده‌ام تا قوم مرا محک بزنی؛ پس کردار و رفتار ایشان را مشاهده و ارزیابی نما.

28 They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.

آنها کاملاً یاغی شده و دلشان همچون مفرغ و آهن سخت گردیده است؛ به هر جا که می‌روند، غیبت می‌کنند؛ تمام اعمالشان گناه‌آلود است.

29 The bellowes are burnt: the lead is consumed in the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not taken away.

آهنگر با افزودن دمای کوره، سرب را تصفیه می‌کند، ولی قوم من تصفیه ناپذیرند، زیرا بدکاران از آنها جدا نمی‌شوند.

30 They shall call them reprobate siluer, because the Lord hath reiected them.

ایشان”نقرهٔ ناخالص بی‌مصرف“نامیده خواهند شد، چون من ترکشان کرده‌ام.»
