Jeremiah 49
1 Unto the children of Ammon thus saith the Lord, Hath Israel no sonnes? or hath he none heire? Why then hath their king possessed God? and his people dwelt in his cities?
Para los hijos de Ammón: Así dice Yahvé: “¿No tiene acaso hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué Melcom se ha posesionado de Gad, y habita su pueblo en las ciudades de este?
2 Therefore beholde the dayes come, sayeth the Lord, that I will cause a noyse of warre to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites, and it shall be a desolate heape, and her daughters shall be burnt with fire: then shall Israel possesse those that possessed him, sayeth the Lord.
Por eso, he aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que haré oír en Rabbat de los hijos de Ammón el estruendo de la guerra. Ella se convertirá en un montón de escombros, y sus ciudades serán quemadas, e Israel heredará a sus propios herederos —oráculo de Yahvé.
3 Howle, O Heshbon, for Ai is wasted: crie ye daughters of Rabbah: girde you with sackecloth: mourne and runne to and from by the hedges: for their King shall goe into captiuitie; and his Priestes, and his princes likewise.
Hesbón prorrumpe en alaridos, porque ¡ay! está devastada; alzad el grito, hijas de Rabbat, ceñíos cilicios, llorad; corred de un lado a otro por los vallados, porque Melcom va al cautiverio, y con él sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.
4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleis? thy valley floweth away, O rebellious daughter: she trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come vnto me?
¿Por qué te glorías de los valles? —es rico tu valle, oh hija rebelde— y confías en tus tesoros (diciendo): «¿Quién vendrá contra mí?»
5 Beholde, I will bring a feare vpon thee, sayth the Lord God of hostes, of all those that be about thee, and ye shalbe scattered euery man right foorth, and none shall gather him that fleeth.
He aquí que haré venir sobre ti el terror, dice el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, el terror de todos los que te rodean; y seréis arrojados, cada cual en su dirección, sin que haya quien reúna a los fugitivos.
6 And afterward I will bring againe the captiuitie of the children of Ammon.
Mas después de esto haré volver a los cautivos de los hijos de Ammón” —oráculo de Yahvé.
7 To Edom thus sayeth the Lord of hostes: Is wisdome no more in Teman? is counsel perished from their children? is their wisdome vanished?
Para Edom: Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: “¿No hay ya sabiduría en Temán? ¿Se retiró de sus sabios el consejo? ¿Se acabó su inteligencia?
8 Flee, ye inhabitants of Dedan (they are turned backe, and haue consulted to dwell) for I haue brought the destruction of Esau vpon him, and the time of his visitation.
¡Huid! ¡Volveos atrás! Buscad refugios profundos, habitantes de Dedán, porque voy a traer sobre él la ruina de Esaú, el tiempo de su castigo.
9 If the grape gatherers come to thee, would they not leaue some grapes? if theeues come by night, they will destroy till they haue ynough.
Si vinieran sobre ti vendimiadores, dejarían por lo menos algunos racimos; y si ladrones de noche, destruirían solo una parte.
10 For I haue discouered Esau: I haue vncouered his secrets, and he shall not be able to hide himselfe: his seede is wasted, and his brethren and his neighbours, and there shall be none to say,
Yo empero voy a despojar a Esaú, descubriré su escondrijo, y no podrá ocultarse; será destruida su raza, así como sus hermanos y sus vecinos; y él mismo ya no existirá.
11 Leaue thy fathers children, and I will preserue them aliue, and let thy widowes trust in me.
¡Deja tus huérfanos, que Yo les conservaré la vida, y tus viudas pongan en Mí su esperanza!
12 For thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, they whose iudgement was not to drinke of the cuppe, haue assuredly drunken, and art thou he that shall escape free? thou shalt not goe free, but thou shalt surely drinke of it.
Porque así dice Yahvé: He aquí, si los que no estaban condenados a beber el cáliz, lo bebieron sin remedio, ¿tú, por ventura, saldrás impune? No saldrás impune, lo beberás sin falta.
13 For I haue sworne by my selfe, sayeth the Lord, that Bozrah shall be waste, and for a reproche, and a desolation, and a curse, and all the cities thereof shall be perpetuall desolations.
Pues por Mí mismo he jurado, dice Yahvé: Bosra será un objeto de horror y de oprobio, una desolación y lugar de maldición, y todas sus ciudades una eterna soledad.”
14 I haue heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassadour is sent vnto the heathen, saying, Gather you together, and come against her, and rise vp to the battell.
He oído de parte de Yahvé esta nueva, ha sido enviado a las naciones este mensaje: “Congregaos y marchad contra ella, y levantaos para ir a la guerra.”
15 For loe, I will make thee but small among the heathen, and despised among men.
“Pues he aquí que Yo te he hecho pequeño entre los pueblos, despreciado entre los hombres.
16 Thy feare, and ye pride of thine heart hath deceiued thee, thou that dwellest in the cleftes of the rocke, and keepest the height of ye hil: though thou shouldest make thy nest as hie as the eagle, I wil bring thee downe from thece, sayth the Lord.
Te ha engañado tu arrogancia, la soberbia de tu corazón, pues habitas en las hendiduras de las rocas, y ocupas la cima de los montes. Pero aunque pongas tan alto como el águila tu nido, de allí te haré bajar, dice Yahvé.
17 Also Edom shall be desolate: euery one that goeth by it, shall be astonished, and shall hisse at all the plagues thereof,
Edom vendrá a ser un horror; cuantos por allí pasaren quedarán pasmados, y silbando contemplarán todas tus plagas.
18 As in the ouerthrowe of Sodom, and of Gomorah, and the places thereof neere about, saieth the Lord: no man shall dwell there, neither shall the sonnes of men remaine in it.
Será arrasado como Sodoma y Gomorra, y sus ciudades vecinas, dice Yahvé; no vivirá nadie allí, ni habrá hombre que lo habite.
19 Beholde, hee shall come vp like a lyon from the swelling of Iorden vnto the strong dwelling place: for I will make Israel to rest, euen I will make him to haste away from her, and who is a chosen man that I may appoynt against her? for who is like mee? and who will appoint me the time? and who is the shepheard that will stande before me?
Como león subirá (el enemigo) desde las espesuras del Jordán a los pastizales siempre verdes, pero en un momento lo arrojaré de allí, y estableceré en (Edom) a quien Yo escogiere, pues ¿quién hay como Yo? ¿Quién me pedirá cuenta? ¿Quién es el pastor que pueda enfrentarse conmigo?
20 Therefore heare the counsell of the Lord that hee hath deuised against Edom, and his purpose that hee hath conceiued against the inhabitants of Teman: surely the least of the flocke shall drawe them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
Por eso, oíd el designio de Yahvé, que Él tiene resuelto contra Edom, y sus planes que ha trazado contra los habitantes de Teman. Os aseguro que serán arrastrados hasta los débiles de la grey, y quedarán devastados juntamente con ellos sus pastizales.
21 The earth is mooued at the noyse of their fall: the crie of their voice is heard in the red Sea.
Al estruendo de su caída temblará la tierra, sus gritos se oirán hasta el Mar Rojo.
22 Behold, he shall come vp, and flie as the Egle, and spreade his wings ouer Bozrah, and at that day shall the heart of the strong men of Edome be as the heart of a woman in trauaile.
He aquí que como águila subirá (el enemigo), volará y extenderá sus alas contra Bosra; y será el corazón de los guerreros de Edom en aquel día como el corazón de una mujer que está de parto.”
23 Vnto Damascus he sayeth, Hamath is confounded and Arpad, for they haue heard euill tidings, and they are faint hearted as one on the fearefull sea that can not rest.
Para Damasco: “Confundidas están Hamat y Arfad; oyeron una mala noticia, por la cual se han turbado. Son como un mar agitado que no se puede calmar.
24 Damascus is discouraged, and turneth her selfe to flight and feare hath seased her: anguish and sorowes haue taken her as a woman in trauaile.
Desmáyase Damasco, se dispone a huir, tiembla; se apoderan de ella angustia y dolores como de parturienta.
25 How is the glorious citie not reserued, the citie of my ioy?
¡Cómo ha sido abandonada la ciudad gloriosa, la ciudad de mi alegría!
26 Therefore her yong men shall fall in her streetes, and all her men of warre shall be cut off in that day, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
Por eso sus jóvenes caerán por sus calles, y todos sus hombres de guerra perecerán en aquel día —oráculo de Yahvé de los ejércitos—;
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, which shall cosume the palaces of Benhadad.
y pegaré fuego al muro de Damasco, que devorará los palacios de Benhadad.
28 Vnto Kedar, and to the kingdomes of Hazor, which Nebuchad-nezzar, king of Babel shall smite, thus sayeth the Lord, Arise, and goe vp vnto Kedar, and destroy the men of the East.
Para Cedar y los reinos de Hasor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia: Así dice Yahvé: “Levantaos, marchad contra Cedar, y destruid a los hijos del Oriente.
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: yea, they shall take to themselues their curtaines and all their vessels, and their camels, and they shall crie vnto them, Feare is on euery side.
Se les quitarán sus tiendas y sus rebaños, las lonas de sus (tiendas) y todos sus utensilios; serán llevados sus camellos, y se les clamará: «¡Terror por doquier!»
30 Flee, get you farre off (they haue consulted to dwell) O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord: for Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel hath taken counsell against you, and hath deuised a purpose against you.
Huid, dispersaos por todas partes; escondeos en cavernas, moradores de Hasor, dice Yahvé; porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, tiene resuelto un plan contra vosotros, y contra vosotros se dirigen sus pensamientos.
31 Arise, and get you vp vnto the welthy nation that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which haue neither gates nor barres, but dwel alone.
Levantaos, dice Yahvé (a los caldeos), marchad contra un pueblo tranquilo, que habita confiado, dice Yahvé, sin puertas, sin cerrojos, todo aislado.
32 And their camels shall be a bootie, and the multitude of their cattel a spoile, and I will scatter them into all windes, and to the vtmost corners, and I will bring their destruction from al the sides thereof, sayeth the Lord.
Sus camellos serán un botín, y una presa la muchedumbre de sus ganados. Esparciré a todos los vientos a los que se rapan las sienes; y de todos sus confines traeré su mal, dice Yahvé.
33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and desolation for euer: there shall no man dwell there, nor the sonnes of men remaine in it.
Hasor vendrá a ser morada de chacales, un desierto perpetuo, no habitará allí hombre alguno ni morará hijo de hombre en ella.
34 The woordes of the Lord that came to Ieremiah the Prophet, concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reigne of Zedekiah King of Iudah, saying,
Al principio del reinado de Sedecías, rey de Judá, recibió el profeta Jeremías esta palabra de Dios para Elam:
35 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will breake the bowe of Elam, euen the chiefe of their strength.
“Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: He aquí que romperé el arco de Elam, lo principal de su fuerza.
36 And vpon Elam I will bring the foure windes from the foure quarters of heauen, and will scatter them towardes all these windes, and there shall bee no nation, whither the fugitiues of Elam shall not come.
Soltaré contra Elam los cuatro vientos desde los cuatro puntos del cielo; y los dispersaré hacia todos estos vientos; y no habrá nación adonde no lleguen fugitivos de Elam.
37 For I will cause Elam to be afraied before their enemies, and before them that seeke their liues, and will bring vpon them a plague, euen the indignation of my wrath, saieth the Lord, and I wil sende the sworde after them till I haue consumed them.
Porque haré temblar a Elam delante de sus enemigos, y delante de los que intentan su ruina; descargaré sobre ellos el mal, mi ira ardiente, dice Yahvé, y tras ellos enviaré la espada hasta acabar con ellos.
38 And I wil set my throne in Elam, and I wil destroy both the King and the princes from thence, saith the Lord:
Asentaré mi trono en Elam, y daré allí muerte al rey y a los príncipes, dice Yahvé.
39 but in the latter daies I wil bring againe the captiuitie of Elam, sayeth the Lord.
Pero en los últimos tiempos haré volver a los cautivos de Elam” —oráculo de Yahvé.
