< Jeremiah 39 >

1 In the ninth yeere of Zedekiah King of Iudah in the tenth moneth, came Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel and all his hoste against Ierusalem, and they besieged it.
2 And in the eleuenth yeere of Zedekiah in the fourth moneth, the ninth day of the moneth, the citie was broken vp.
Pea naʻe lavaʻi ʻae kolo, ʻi hono hongofulu ma taha ʻoe taʻu ʻo Setikia, ʻi hono fā ʻoe māhina, pea mo hono hiva ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe māhina.
3 And all the princes of the King of Babel came in, and sate in the middle gate, euen Neregal, Sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-saris, Neregal, Sharezer, Rab-mag with all the residue of the princes of the King of Babel.
Pea naʻe haʻu ʻae houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Papilone, ʻo nofo ki he matapā ʻi loto, ko Nekalisalesa, mo Samikanipo, mo Sasekimi, mo Lapasalisi, mo Nekalisalesa, mo Lapamaki, mo hono toe kotoa pē ʻoe houʻeiki ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Papilone.
4 And when Zedekiah the King of Iudah saw them, and all the men of warre, then they fled, and went out of the citie by night, through the Kings garden, and by the gate betweene the two walles, and he went toward the wildernes.
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he mamata kiate kinautolu ʻa Setikia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, mo e kau tau kotoa pē, naʻa nau hola, pea ʻalu mei he kolo ʻi he poʻuli, ʻi he hala ʻoe ngoue ʻae tuʻi, ʻi he matapā ʻi he vahaʻa ʻoe ongo ʻā: pea naʻe ʻalu atu ia ʻi he hala ʻoe toafa.
5 But the Caldeans hoste pursued after them, and ouertooke Zedekiah in the desart of Iericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him to Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel vnto Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gaue iudgement vpon him.
Ka naʻe tuli ʻakinautolu ʻe he kau tau ʻae kau Kalitia, pea maʻu ʻa Setikia ʻi he toafa ʻo Seliko: pea kuo nau maʻu ia, naʻa nau ʻomi ia kia Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone ki Lipila ki he fonua ko Hamati, pea ne fakamaau ia ʻi ai.
6 Then the King of Babel slewe the sonnes of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the King of Babel slewe all the nobles of Iudah.
Pea naʻe tāmateʻi ʻi Lipila ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone ʻae ngaahi foha ʻo Setikia ʻi hono ʻao: pea tāmateʻi foki ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone ʻae ngaahi houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻo Siuta.
7 Moreouer he put out Zedekiahs eyes, and bound him in chaines, to cary him to Babel.
Pea naʻe kapeʻi ʻae mata ʻo Setikia, pea haʻisia ʻaki ia ʻae ngaahi maea ukamea fihifihi, ke ʻave ia ki Papilone.
8 And the Caldeans burnt the Kings house, and the houses of the people with fire, and brake downe the walles of Ierusalem.
Pea naʻe tutu ʻaki ʻae afi ʻe he kau Kalitia ʻae fale ʻoe tuʻi, pea mo e ngaahi fale ʻoe kakai, pea laku hifo ʻae ngaahi ʻā ʻo Selūsalema.
9 Then Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde caried away captiue into Babel the remnant of the people, that remained in the citie, and those that were fled and fallen vnto him, with the rest of the people that remained.
Pea naʻe ʻave fakapōpula ki Papilone ʻe Nepusaatani ko e ʻeiki ʻoe kau leʻo, ʻae toenga kakai naʻe toe ʻi he kolo, pea ko kinautolu kuo ʻalu ange kiate ia, ʻio, ko e toenga kakai ʻokinautolu naʻe toe.
10 But Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward left the poore that had nothing in the land of Iudah, and gaue them vineyards and fieldes at the same time.
Ka naʻe tuku ʻe Nepusaatani ko e ʻeiki ʻoe kau leʻo ʻae kakai masiva, ʻakinautolu naʻe ʻikai haʻanau meʻa ʻi he fonua ko Siuta, pea ne foaki kiate kinautolu ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻae ngaahi ngoue vaine, pea mo e ngaahi ngoue.
11 Nowe Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel gaue charge concerning Ieremiah vnto Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde, saying,
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone, kia Nepusaatani ko e ʻeiki ʻoe kau leʻo koeʻuhi ko Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
12 Take him, and looke well to him, and doe him no harme, but doe vnto him euen as he shall say vnto thee.
“ʻAve ia, pea fai lelei kiate ia, pea ʻoua naʻa fai kovi kiate ia; ka ke fai kiate ia ʻo hangē ko ʻene lea kiate koe.”
13 So Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Neregal, Sharezar, Rab-mag, and all the King of Babels princes:
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Nepusaatani ko e ʻeiki ʻoe kau leʻo, pea mo Nepusasipani, mo Lapasalisi, mo Nekalisalesa, mo Lapamaki, pea mo e houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻae tuʻi ʻo Papilone;
14 Euen they sent, and tooke Ieremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan, that he should cary him home: so he dwelt among the people.
Pea naʻa nau fekau ke ʻomi ʻa Selemaia mei he lotoʻā ʻoe fale fakapōpula, pea nau tuku ia kia Ketalia ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami ko e foha ʻo Safani, ke taki ia ki hono ʻapi: pea nau nofo mo e kakai.
15 Now the worde of the Lord came vnto Ieremiah, while he was shut vp in the court of the prison, saying,
Pea naʻe haʻu ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ʻi heʻene kei moʻua he lotoʻā ʻoe fale fakapōpula, ʻo pehē,
16 Go and speake to Ebed-melech the blacke More, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil bring my wordes vpon this citie for euill, and not for good, and they shalbe accomplished in that day before thee.
“ʻAlu ʻo lea kia ʻIpetemeleki ko e ʻItiopea, ʻo pehē, ʻOku pehē mai ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; Vakai, te u fakahoko ʻeku ngaahi lea ke kovi ai ʻae kolo ni, ka e ʻikai ke lelei; pea ʻe fakamoʻoni ia ʻi ho ʻao ʻi he ʻaho ko ia.
17 But I wil deliuer thee in that day, saith the Lord, and thou shalt not be giuen into the hand of the men whome thou fearest.
Ka ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, Te u fakamoʻui koe ʻi he ʻaho ko ia: pea ʻe ʻikai tukuange koe ki he nima ʻoe kau tangata ʻoku ke manavahē ki ai.
18 For I will surely deliuer thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sworde, but thy life shall be for a praye vnto thee, because thou hast put thy trust in me, sayth the Lord.
He ko e moʻoni te u fakamoʻui koe, pea ʻe ʻikai te ke tō ʻi he heletā, ka te ke maʻu hoʻo moʻui kiate koe ʻo hangē ko e koloa kuo vetea: koeʻuhi kuo ke falala kiate au, ʻoku pehē mai ʻa Sihova.”
