< Jeremiah 29 >

1 Now these are the wordes of the booke that Ieremiah the Prophet sent from Ierusalem vnto the residue of the Elders which were caryed away captiues, and to the Priestes, and to the Prophets, and to all the people whome Nebuchad-nezzar had caried away captiue from Ierusalem to Babel:
Pea ko eni ʻae ngaahi lea ʻoe tohi ʻaia naʻe tohi ʻe Selemaia ko e palōfita mei Selūsalema ki hono toenga ʻoe kau mātuʻa naʻe fetuku fakapōpula, pea ki he kau taulaʻeiki, mo e kau palōfita, pea ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻaia naʻe fetuku fakapōpula ʻe Nepukanesa mei Selūsalema ki Papilone;
2 (After that Ieconiah the King, and the Queene, and the eunuches, the princes of Iudah, and of Ierusalem, and the workemen, and cunning men were departed from Ierusalem)
(Pea hili hono ʻave mei Selūsalema, ʻa Sekonia ko e tuʻi mo e tuʻi fefine, pea mo e kau talafekau, ko e ngaahi houʻeiki ʻo Siuta, mo Selūsalema, mo e kau tufunga, pea mo e kau tufunga ukamea; )
3 By the hand of Elasah the sonne of Shaphan and Gemariah the sonne of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah King of Iudah sent vnto Babel to Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel) saying,
4 Thus hath the Lord of hostes the God of Israel spoken vnto all that are caryed away captiues, whome I haue caused to be caryed away captiues from Ierusalem vnto Babel:
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, kiate kinautolu kotoa pē kuo fetuku fakapōpula, ʻakinautolu kuo u puleʻi ke fetuku mei Selūsalema ki Papilone.
5 Buylde you houses to dwell in, and plant you gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
‘Mou langa ʻae ngaahi fale, ʻo nofo ai pea tō ʻae ngaahi ngoue, mo kai hono fua;
6 Take you wiues, and beget sonnes and daughters, and take wiues for your sonnes, and giue your daughters to husbands, that they may beare sonnes and daughters, that ye may bee increased there, and not diminished.
Mou toʻo kiate kimoutolu ʻae ngaahi uaifi, pea fakatupu ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine; pea fili ʻae ngaahi uaifi ki homou ngaahi foha, pea ʻatu homou ngaahi ʻofefine ki honau ngaahi husepāniti, koeʻuhi ke nau fanafanau ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine; koeʻuhi ke mou fakatokolahi ʻi ai, pea ʻoua naʻa fakatokosiʻi.
7 And seeke the prosperitie of the citie, whither I haue caused you to be caried away captiues, and pray vnto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall you haue peace.
Pea kumi ke melino ʻae kolo ʻaia kuo u puleʻi ke fetuku fakapōpula ʻakimoutolu ki ai, pea hūfia ia kia Sihova: he te mou maʻu ʻae fiemālie ʻi hono melino.
8 For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Let not your prophets, and your southsayers that bee among you, deceiue you, neither giue eare to your dreames, which you dreame.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; ʻoua naʻa tuku ke kākaaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe hoʻomou kau palōfita mo e kau fiemana ʻoku ʻiate kimoutolu, pea ʻoua naʻa tokanga ki he ngaahi misi ʻoku mou misi ʻaki.
9 For they prophecie you a lie in my Name: I haue not sent them, saith the Lord.
He ʻoku nau kikite loi kiate kimoutolu ʻi hoku huafa: ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, naʻe ʻikai te u fekau ʻakinautolu.’
10 But thus saith the Lord, That after seuentie yeeres be accomplished at Babel, I will visite you, and performe my good promise toward you, and cause you to returne to this place.
“He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ‘ʻOka ʻosi ʻae taʻu ʻe fitungofulu te u ʻaʻahi kiate kimoutolu, pea te u fakamoʻoni ʻeku lea lelei kiate kimoutolu, pea pule ke mou toe haʻu ki he potu ni.
11 For I knowe the thoughtes, that I haue thought towards you, saith the Lord, euen the thoughtes of peace, and not of trouble, to giue you an ende, and your hope.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻOku ʻiate au ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, kuo u tuʻutuʻuni kiate kimoutolu, ko e ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ki he fiemālie, kae ʻikai ki he kovi, koeʻuhi ke foaki hoʻomou ʻamanaki kiate kimoutolu ʻi he ikuʻanga.
12 Then shall you crie vnto mee, and ye shall go and pray vnto me, and I will heare you,
Pea te mou toki ui kiate au, pea te mou ʻalu ʻo lotu kiate au, pea te u fanongo kiate kimoutolu.
13 And ye shall seeke mee and finde mee, because ye shall seeke mee with all your heart.
Pea te mou kumi mo ʻiloʻi au, ʻoka mou ka kumi kiate au ʻaki homou loto kotoa.
14 And I wil be found of you, saith the Lord, and I will turne away your captiuitie, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places, whither I haue cast you, saith the Lord, and will bring you againe vnto the place, whence I caused you to be caryed away captiue.
Pea ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, Te mou ʻilo au: pea te u liliu homou fakapōpula, pea te u tānaki ʻakimoutolu mei he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē, pea mei he ngaahi potu kotoa pē naʻaku kapusi ʻakimoutolu ki ai, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; pea te u toe ʻomi ʻakimoutolu mei he potu ko ia naʻaku pule ke fetuku pōpula ki ai ʻakimoutolu.’
15 Because ye haue sayd, The Lord hath raised vs vp Prophets in Babel,
“Koeʻuhi kuo mou pehē, Kuo fokotuʻu ʻe Sihova kiate kitautolu ʻae kau palōfita ʻi Papilone;
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord of the King, that sitteth vpon the throne of Dauid, and of all the people, that dwell in this citie, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captiuitie:
Ka kuo folofola pehē ʻa Sihova, ki he tuʻi ʻoku nofo ʻi he nofoʻanga ʻo Tevita, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē ʻoku nofo ʻi he kolo ni, pea mo homou kāinga kuo ʻalu atu mo kimoutolu ki he fakapōpula;
17 Euen thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will sende vpon them the sworde, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figges, that cannot bee eaten, they are so naughtie.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau; ‘Vakai, te u fekau kiate kimoutolu ʻae heletā, mo e honge, mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, pea te u ngaohi ʻakinautolu ke hangē ko e ngaahi fiki kovi, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai faʻa kai, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene kovi.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence: and I will make them a terror to all kingdomes of the earth, and a curse, and astonishment and an hissing, and a reproche among all the nations whither I haue cast them,
Pea te u tautea ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae heletā, mo e honge, pea mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, pea te u tukuange ʻakinautolu ke ʻave ʻakinautolu ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻo māmani, ke hoko ko e malaʻia, mo e fakaofo, mo e manukiʻanga, mo e ongoongo kovi, ki he puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻaia kuo u kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ai:
19 Because they haue not hearde my words, saith the Lord, which I sent vnto them by my seruantes the Prophetes, rising vp earely, and sending them, but yee woulde not heare, saith the Lord.
20 Heare ye therefore the word of the Lord all ye of the captiuitie, whome I haue sent from Ierusalem to Babel.
“Ko ia mou fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku fakapōpula, ʻakimoutolu kuo u ʻave mei Selūsalema ki Papilone:’
21 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, of Ahab the sonne of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the sonne of Maaseiah, which prophecie lyes vnto you in my Name, Beholde, I will deliuer them into the hande of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and he shall slay them before your eyes.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, kia ʻEhapi ko e foha ʻo Kolaia, pea mo Setikia ko e foha ʻo Māseia, ʻakinaua ʻoku kikite loi kiate kimoutolu ʻi hoku huafa: Vakai, Te u tukuange ʻakinaua ki he nima ʻo Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone; pea te ne tāmateʻi ʻakinaua ʻi homou ʻao;
22 And al they of the captiuitie of Iudah, that are in Babel, shall take vp this curse against them, and say, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whome the King of Babel burnt in the fire,
Pea ko e meʻa ʻiate kinaua ʻe tupu ai ʻae lea fakamalaʻia ʻi he kau pōpula kotoa pē ʻo Siuta ʻoku ʻi Papilone, ʻo pehē, Ke ngaohi koe ʻe Sihova ke hangē ko Setikia pea hangē ko ʻEhapi, ʻaia naʻe tutu ʻi he afi ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone;
23 Because they haue committed vilenie in Israel, and haue committed adulterie with their neighbours wiues, and haue spoken lying words in my Name, which I haue not commanded them, euen I knowe it, and testifie it, saith the Lord.
Koeʻuhi kuo na fai kovi ʻi ʻIsileli, pea tonoʻi ʻae uaifi ʻo hona kaungāʻapi, pea kuo na lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea loi ʻi hoku huafa, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te u fekau kiate kinautolu; he ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻOku ou ʻiloʻi, pea ko hono fakamoʻoni au.”
24 Thou shalt also speake to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
Ke ke lea pehē foki ki Simaia, mei Nehelami, ʻo pehē,
25 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy Name vnto all the people, that are at Ierusalem, and to Zephaniah the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest, and to all the Priests, saying,
‌ʻOku folofola mai ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻo pehē, Koeʻuhi kuo ke ʻatu ʻae ngaahi tohi ʻi ho hingoa ʻoʻou ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻi Selūsalema; pea kia Sefania ko e foha ʻo Māseia ko e taulaʻeiki, pea ki he taulaʻeiki kotoa pē, ʻo pehē,
26 The Lord hath made thee Priest for Iehoiada the Priest, that yee should bee officers in the House of the Lord, for euery man that raueth and maketh himselfe a Prophet, to put him in prison and in the stockes.
“Kuo fakanofo koe ʻe Sihova ko e taulaʻeiki ko e fetongi ʻo Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki, koeʻuhi ke mou hoko ko e kau tauhi ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, koeʻuhi ke ʻilonga ʻae tangata kotoa pē ʻoku faha, pea mahalo ko e palōfita ia ke ʻai ia ki he fale fakapōpula pea mo e ʻakau fakamaʻu vaʻe.
27 Nowe therefore why hast not thou reproued Ieremiah of Anathoth, which prophecieth vnto you?
Ko ia, ko e hā naʻe ʻikai te ke valoki ai kia Selemaia ʻo ʻAnatoti, ʻaia ʻoku ne pehē ʻe ia ko e palōfita ia kiate kimoutolu?
28 For, for this cause hee sent vnto vs in Babel, saying, This captiuitie is long: buyld houses to dwell in, and plant gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
He naʻa ne fekau kiate kimautolu ʻi Papilone, ʻo pehē, ʻOku fuoloa ʻae fakapōpula ni, mou langa ʻae ngaahi fale, pea nofo ai; pea tō hoʻomou ngaahi ngoue, pea kai hono fua.”
29 And Zephaniah the Priest red this letter in the eares of Ieremiah the Prophet.
Pea naʻe lau ʻae tohi ni, ʻe Sefania ko e taulaʻeiki ki he telinga ʻo Selemaia ko e palōfita.
30 Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
Pea naʻe toki hoko ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
31 Send to all them of the captiuitie, saying, Thus saith the Lord of Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah hath prophecied vnto you, and I sent him not, and hee caused you to trust in a lye,
Fekau atu kiate kinautolu kotoa pē kuo fakapōpulaʻi, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku pehē mai ʻe Sihova, ko e meʻa ia Simaia mei Nehelami; koeʻuhi kuo kikite ʻe Simaia kiate kimoutolu, pea ne fakafalala ʻakimoutolu ki he loi, ka naʻe ʻikai te u fekau ia:
32 Therefore thus saieth the Lord, Behold, I wil visite Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seede: hee shall not haue a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he beholde the good, that I will doe for my people, sayth the Lord, because he hath spoken rebelliously against the Lord.
Ko ia ʻoku pehē mai ʻe Sihova, Vakai, Te u tautea ʻa Simaia mei Nehelami, pea mo hono hako: ʻe ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻi hono faʻahinga ke nofo mo ʻene kakai; pea ʻe ʻikai te ne mamata ki he lelei te u fai ki hoku kakai, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; koeʻuhi kuo ne ako ʻaki ʻae angatuʻu kia Sihova.”
