Jeremiah 29
1 Now these are the wordes of the booke that Ieremiah the Prophet sent from Ierusalem vnto the residue of the Elders which were caryed away captiues, and to the Priestes, and to the Prophets, and to all the people whome Nebuchad-nezzar had caried away captiue from Ierusalem to Babel:
E estas são as palavras da carta que Jeremias, o propheta, enviou de Jerusalem, ao resto do captiveiro dos anciãos, como tambem aos sacerdotes, e aos prophetas, e a todo o povo que Nabucodonozor havia transportado de Jerusalem a Babylonia;
2 (After that Ieconiah the King, and the Queene, and the eunuches, the princes of Iudah, and of Ierusalem, and the workemen, and cunning men were departed from Ierusalem)
Depois que sairam o rei Jechonias, e a rainha, e os eunuchos, e os principes de Judah e Jerusalem, e os carpinteiros e ferreiros de Jerusalem,
3 By the hand of Elasah the sonne of Shaphan and Gemariah the sonne of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah King of Iudah sent vnto Babel to Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel) saying,
Pela mão de Elasa, filho de Saphan, e de Gemarias, filho de Hilkias, os quaes enviou Zedekias, rei de Judah, a Babylonia, a Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, dizendo:
4 Thus hath the Lord of hostes the God of Israel spoken vnto all that are caryed away captiues, whome I haue caused to be caryed away captiues from Ierusalem vnto Babel:
Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus d'Israel, a todos os que foram transportados, os quaes fiz transportar de Jerusalem para Babylonia:
5 Buylde you houses to dwell in, and plant you gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
Edificae casas e habitae n'ellas; e plantae jardins, e comei o seu fructo.
6 Take you wiues, and beget sonnes and daughters, and take wiues for your sonnes, and giue your daughters to husbands, that they may beare sonnes and daughters, that ye may bee increased there, and not diminished.
Tomae mulheres e gerae filhos e filhas, e tomae mulheres para vossos filhos, e dae vossas filhas a maridos, e parirão filhos e filhas; e multiplicae-vos ali, e não vos diminuaes.
7 And seeke the prosperitie of the citie, whither I haue caused you to be caried away captiues, and pray vnto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall you haue peace.
E procurae a paz da cidade, para onde vos fiz transportar, e orae por ella ao Senhor; porque na sua paz vós tereis paz.
8 For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Let not your prophets, and your southsayers that bee among you, deceiue you, neither giue eare to your dreames, which you dreame.
Porque assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus d'Israel: Não vos enganem os vossos prophetas que estão no meio de vós, nem os vossos adivinhos, nem deis ouvidos aos vossos sonhos, que vós sonhaes:
9 For they prophecie you a lie in my Name: I haue not sent them, saith the Lord.
Porque elles vos prophetizam falsamente no meu nome: não os enviei, diz o Senhor.
10 But thus saith the Lord, That after seuentie yeeres be accomplished at Babel, I will visite you, and performe my good promise toward you, and cause you to returne to this place.
Porque assim diz o Senhor: Certamente que em se cumprindo setenta annos em Babylonia, vos visitarei, e continuarei sobre vós a minha boa palavra, tornando-vos a trazer a este logar.
11 For I knowe the thoughtes, that I haue thought towards you, saith the Lord, euen the thoughtes of peace, and not of trouble, to giue you an ende, and your hope.
Porque eu bem sei os pensamentos que eu penso de vós, diz o Senhor; pensamentos de paz, e não de mal, para vos dar o fim que esperaes.
12 Then shall you crie vnto mee, and ye shall go and pray vnto me, and I will heare you,
Então me invocareis, e ireis, e orareis a mim, e eu vos ouvirei.
13 And ye shall seeke mee and finde mee, because ye shall seeke mee with all your heart.
E buscar-me-heis, e me achareis, quando me buscardes com todo o vosso coração.
14 And I wil be found of you, saith the Lord, and I will turne away your captiuitie, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places, whither I haue cast you, saith the Lord, and will bring you againe vnto the place, whence I caused you to be caryed away captiue.
E serei achado de vós, diz o Senhor, e farei tornar os vossos captivos, e congregar-vos-hei de todas as nações, e de todos os logares para onde vos lancei, diz o Senhor, e tornarei a trazer-vos ao logar d'onde vos transportei.
15 Because ye haue sayd, The Lord hath raised vs vp Prophets in Babel,
Porque dizeis: O Senhor nos levantou prophetas em Babylonia.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord of the King, that sitteth vpon the throne of Dauid, and of all the people, that dwell in this citie, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captiuitie:
Porque assim diz o Senhor ácerca do rei que se assenta no throno de David; e ácerca de todo o povo que habita n'esta cidade, a saber, de vossos irmãos, que não sairam comvosco para o captiveiro;
17 Euen thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will sende vpon them the sworde, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figges, that cannot bee eaten, they are so naughtie.
Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos: Eis que enviarei entre elles a espada, a fome e a peste, e fal-os-hei como a figos podres, que não se podem comer, de maus que são.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence: and I will make them a terror to all kingdomes of the earth, and a curse, and astonishment and an hissing, and a reproche among all the nations whither I haue cast them,
E perseguil-os-hei com a espada, com a fome, e com a peste; dal-os-hei para servirem de commoção a todos os reinos da terra, como tambem por maldição, e por espanto, e por assobio, e por opprobrio entre toda sas nações para onde os lançar;
19 Because they haue not hearde my words, saith the Lord, which I sent vnto them by my seruantes the Prophetes, rising vp earely, and sending them, but yee woulde not heare, saith the Lord.
Porquanto não deram ouvidos ás minhas palavras, diz o Senhor, enviando-lhes eu os meus servos, os prophetas, madrugando e enviando; porém vós não escutastes, diz o Senhor.
20 Heare ye therefore the word of the Lord all ye of the captiuitie, whome I haue sent from Ierusalem to Babel.
Vós, pois, ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todos os do captiveiro que enviei de Jerusalem a Babylonia.
21 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, of Ahab the sonne of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the sonne of Maaseiah, which prophecie lyes vnto you in my Name, Beholde, I will deliuer them into the hande of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and he shall slay them before your eyes.
Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus de Israel, ácerca de Ahab, filho de Colaias, e de Zedekias, filho de Maaseias, que vos prophetizam falsamente no meu nome: Eis que os entregarei na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, e elle os ferirá diante dos vossos olhos.
22 And al they of the captiuitie of Iudah, that are in Babel, shall take vp this curse against them, and say, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whome the King of Babel burnt in the fire,
E tomarão d'elles uma maldição todos os transportados de Judah, que estão em Babylonia, dizendo: O Senhor te faça como Zedekias, e como Ahab, os quaes o rei de Babylonia assou no fogo
23 Because they haue committed vilenie in Israel, and haue committed adulterie with their neighbours wiues, and haue spoken lying words in my Name, which I haue not commanded them, euen I knowe it, and testifie it, saith the Lord.
Porquanto fizeram loucura em Israel, e commetteram adulterio com as mulheres de seus companheiros, e fallaram uma palavra no meu nome falsamente, que não lhes mandei, e eu o sei e sou testemunha d'isso, diz o Senhor.
24 Thou shalt also speake to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
E a Shemaias, o nehelamita, fallarás, dizendo:
25 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy Name vnto all the people, that are at Ierusalem, and to Zephaniah the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest, and to all the Priests, saying,
Assim diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus d'Israel, dizendo: Porquanto tu enviaste no teu nome cartas a todo o povo que está em Jerusalem, como tambem a Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26 The Lord hath made thee Priest for Iehoiada the Priest, that yee should bee officers in the House of the Lord, for euery man that raueth and maketh himselfe a Prophet, to put him in prison and in the stockes.
O Senhor te poz por sacerdote em logar de Joiada, o sacerdote, para que sejaes encarregados da casa do Senhor sobre todo o homem furioso, e que prophetiza, para o lançares na prisão e no tronco.
27 Nowe therefore why hast not thou reproued Ieremiah of Anathoth, which prophecieth vnto you?
Agora, pois, porque não reprehendeste a Jeremias, o anathotita, que prophetiza vos?
28 For, for this cause hee sent vnto vs in Babel, saying, This captiuitie is long: buyld houses to dwell in, and plant gardens, and eate the fruites of them.
Porque por isso nos mandou a nós a Babylonia, dizendo: Ainda o captiveiro muito ha de durar; edificae casas, e habitae n'ellas; e plantae jardins, e comei o seu fructo.
29 And Zephaniah the Priest red this letter in the eares of Ieremiah the Prophet.
E lera Sofonias, o sacerdote, esta carta aos ouvidos de Jeremias, o propheta.
30 Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
E veiu a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:
31 Send to all them of the captiuitie, saying, Thus saith the Lord of Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah hath prophecied vnto you, and I sent him not, and hee caused you to trust in a lye,
Manda a todos os do captiveiro, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor ácerca de Semaias, o nehelamita: Porquanto Semaias vos prophetizou, e eu não o enviei, e vos fez confiar em mentiras,
32 Therefore thus saieth the Lord, Behold, I wil visite Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seede: hee shall not haue a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he beholde the good, that I will doe for my people, sayth the Lord, because he hath spoken rebelliously against the Lord.
Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Eis que visitarei a Semaias, o nehelamita, e a sua semente: elle não terá ninguem que habite entre este povo, e não verá o bem que hei de fazer ao meu povo, diz o Senhor, porquanto fallou rebellião contra o Senhor.
