Jeremiah 16

1 The worde of the Lord came also vnto mee, saying,

E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, nor haue sonnes nor daughters in this place.

Não tomarás para ti mulher, nem terás filhos nem filhas neste lugar.

3 For thus sayeth the Lord concerning the sonnes, and concerning the daughters that are borne in this place, and concerning their mothers that beare them, and concerning their fathers, that beget them in this land,

Porque assim diz o Senhor, acerca dos filhos e das filhas que nascerem neste lugar, acerca de suas mães, que os parirem, e de seus pais que os gerarem nesta terra:

4 They shall die of deathes and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shalbe as dung vpon the earth, and they shalbe consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carkeises shall be meate for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.

Morrerão de enfermidades dolorosas, e não serão pranteados nem sepultados: servirão de esterco sobre a terra; e pela espada e pela fome serão consumidos, e os seus cadáveres servirão de mantimento para as aves do céu e para os animais da terra.

5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither goe to lament, nor be moued for the: for I haue taken my peace, from this people, saith the Lord, euen mercy and compassion.

Porque assim diz o Senhor: Não entres na casa do luto, nem vás a lamentar, nem te compadeças deles; porque já deste povo, diz o Senhor, tirei a minha paz, benignidade e misericórdia.

6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them nor cut themselues, nor make themselues balde for them.

E morrerão grandes e pequenos nesta terra, e não serão sepultados, e não os prantearão nem se farão por eles incisões, nem por eles se raparão os cabelos.

7 They shall not stretch out the hands for the in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they giue them the cup of consolation to drinke for their father or for their mother.

E nada se lhes repartirá por dó, para consola-los por causa de morte: nem lhes darão a beber do copo de consolação, nem por pai de alguém, nem por mãe de alguém.

8 Thou shalt not also goe into the house of feasting to sit with them to eate and to drinke.

Nem entres na casa do banquete, para te assentares com eles a comer e a beber.

9 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, euen in your dayes the voyce of myrth, and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride.

Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que farei cessar deste lugar perante os vossos olhos, e em vossos dias, a voz de gozo e a voz de alegria, a voz do esposo e a voz da esposa.

10 And when thou shalt shewe this people all these wordes, and they shall say vnto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against vs? or what is our iniquitie? and what is our sinne that we haue committed against the Lord our God?

E será que, quando anunciares a este povo todas estas palavras, e eles te disserem: Porque fala o Senhor sobre nós todo este grande mal? e qual é a nossa iniquidade, e qual é o nosso pecado, que pecamos contra o Senhor nosso Deus

11 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, and haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,

Então lhes dirás: Porquanto vossos pais me deixaram, diz o Senhor, e se foram após deuses alheios, e os serviram, e se inclinaram diante deles, e a mim me deixaram, e a minha lei não a guardaram.

12 (And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)

E vós fizestes pior do que vossos pais; porque, eis que cada um de vós anda após o propósito do seu malvado coração, para me não dar ouvidos a mim

13 Therefore will I driue you out of this land into a lande that ye knowe not, neither you, nor your fathers, and there shall ye serue other gods day and night: for I will shew you no grace.

E lançar-vos-ei fora desta terra, para uma terra que não conhecestes, nem vós nem vossos pais; e ali servireis a deuses alheios de dia e de noite, porque não usarei de misericórdia convosco.

14 Behold therfore, saith the Lord, the dayes come that it shall no more be sayde, The Lord liueth, which brought vp the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,

Portanto, eis que dias veem, diz o Senhor, em que nunca mais se dirá: Vive o Senhor, que fez subir os filhos de Israel da terra do Egito.

15 But the Lord liueth, that brought vp the children of Israel from the lande of the North, and from all the landes where hee had scattered them, and I wil bring them againe into their land that I gaue vnto their fathers.

Mas: Vive o Senhor, que fez subir os filhos de Israel da terra do norte, e de todas as terras para onde os tinha lançado; porque fa-los-ei voltar à sua terra, a qual dei a seus pais.

16 Behold, sayth the Lord, I wil send out many fishers, and they shall fish them, and after, will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from euery mountaine and from euery hill, and out of the caues of the rockes.

Eis que mandarei muitos pescadores, diz o Senhor, os quais os pescarão, e depois enviarei muitos caçadores, os quais os caçarão de sobre todo o monte, e de sobre todo o outeiro, e até das fendas das rochas.

17 For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.

Porque os meus olhos estão sobre todos os seus caminhos; não se escondem perante a minha face, nem a sua maldade se encobre de diante dos meus olhos.

18 And first I will recompense their iniquitie and their sinne double, because they haue defiled my lande, and haue filled mine inheritance with their filthie carions and their abominations.

E primeiramente pagarei em dobro a sua maldade e o seu pecado, porque profanaram a minha terra com os cadáveres das suas coisas detestáveis, e das suas abominações encheram a minha herança.

19 O Lord, thou art my force, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come vnto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers haue inherited lies, and vanitie, wherein was no profite.

Ó Senhor, fortaleza minha, e força minha, e refúgio meu no dia da angústia: a ti virão as nações desde os fins da terra, e dirão: Nossos pais herdaram só mentiras, e vaidade, em que não havia proveito.

20 Shall a man make gods vnto himselfe, and they are no gods?

Porventura fará um homem deuses para si, quando eles não são deuses?

21 Beholde, therefore I will this once teach them: I will shewe them mine hande and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.

Portanto, eis que os farei conhecer; desta vez os farei conhecer a minha mão e o meu poder; e saberão que o meu nome é o Senhor.
