Jeremiah 16
1 The worde of the Lord came also vnto mee, saying,
Ergasii dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara koo dhufe:
2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, nor haue sonnes nor daughters in this place.
“Ati iddoo kanatti niitii fuutee ilmaan yookaan intallan hin dhalchin.”
3 For thus sayeth the Lord concerning the sonnes, and concerning the daughters that are borne in this place, and concerning their mothers that beare them, and concerning their fathers, that beget them in this land,
Waaqayyo waaʼee ilmaanii fi intallan iddoo kanatti dhalatanii, waaʼee dubartoota haadhota isaanii taʼaniitii fi waaʼee dhiirota abbootii isaanii taʼanii akkana jedhaatii:
4 They shall die of deathes and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shalbe as dung vpon the earth, and they shalbe consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carkeises shall be meate for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.
“Isaan dhukkuba nama ajjeesuun dhumu. Isaan akkuma kosii lafatti gatamee taʼu malee booʼicha hin argatan; hin awwaalamanis. Isaan goraadee fi beelaan dhumu. Reeffi isaaniis allaattii samiitii fi bineensota lafaatiif nyaata taʼa.”
5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither goe to lament, nor be moued for the: for I haue taken my peace, from this people, saith the Lord, euen mercy and compassion.
Waaqayyo akkana jedhaatii: “Ati mana booʼichaa hin seenin yookaan dhaqxee hin booʼin yookaan isaan hin jajjabeessin; ani eebba koo, jaalala kootii fi gara laafina koo saba kana irraa fudhadheeraatii” jedha Waaqayyo.
6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them nor cut themselues, nor make themselues balde for them.
“Namni xinnaa fi guddaan biyya kana keessatti ni duʼa. Isaan hin awwaalaman yookaan booʼicha hin argatan; namni tokko iyyuu isaaniif jedhee of hin murmuru yookaan mataa hin haaddatu.
7 They shall not stretch out the hands for the in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they giue them the cup of consolation to drinke for their father or for their mother.
Namni tokko iyyuu warra namni irraa duʼe jajjabeessuuf jedhee nyaata hin geessuuf; yookaan namni tokko iyyuu nama abbaan yookaan haati jalaa duute jajjabeessuuf jedhee dhugaatii hin geessu.
8 Thou shalt not also goe into the house of feasting to sit with them to eate and to drinke.
“Mana cidhi jiru hin seenin; nyaachuu fi dhuguuf jettees isaan wajjin hin taaʼin.
9 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, euen in your dayes the voyce of myrth, and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride.
Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu, Waaqni Israaʼel akkana jedhaatii: Ani ija keessan durattii fi bara keessan keessa sagalee ililleetii fi gammachuu, sagalee misirrittiitii fi misirrichaa iddoo kanaa nan balleessa.
10 And when thou shalt shewe this people all these wordes, and they shall say vnto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against vs? or what is our iniquitie? and what is our sinne that we haue committed against the Lord our God?
“Yeroo ati waan kana hunda saba kanatti himtee isaan, ‘Waaqayyo maaliif badiisa guddaa akkanaa nurratti labse? Nu maal balleessine? Waaqayyo Waaqa keenyattis cubbuu maalii hojjennee?’ jedhanii si gaafatanitti,
11 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, and haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,
akkana isaaniin jedhi; ‘Kun sababii abbootiin keessan na dhiisanii waaqota kaan duukaa buʼanii isaan tajaajilanii fi isaan waaqeffataniif’ jedha Waaqayyo; ‘isaan na dhiisan; seera koos hin eegne.
12 (And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)
Isin garuu abbootii keessan iyyuu caalaa hammaattaniirtu. Kunoo tokkoon tokkoon keessan qooda anaaf ajajamuu mata jabina hammina garaa keessanii duukaa buutaniirtuutii.
13 Therefore will I driue you out of this land into a lande that ye knowe not, neither you, nor your fathers, and there shall ye serue other gods day and night: for I will shew you no grace.
Kanaafuu ani biyya kana keessaa isin baasee, biyya isin yookaan abbootiin keessan hin beeknetti isin nan gata; isinis achitti halkanii guyyaa waaqota biraa tajaajiltu; ani isiniif hin naʼuutii.’
14 Behold therfore, saith the Lord, the dayes come that it shall no more be sayde, The Lord liueth, which brought vp the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
“Taʼus” jedha Waaqayyo, “barri itti namoonni siʼachi, ‘Dhugaa Waaqayyo jiraataa, isa biyya Gibxii Israaʼeloota baase sanaa’ jedhanii hin kakanne ni dhufa,
15 But the Lord liueth, that brought vp the children of Israel from the lande of the North, and from all the landes where hee had scattered them, and I wil bring them againe into their land that I gaue vnto their fathers.
isaan garuu, ‘Dhugaa Waaqayyo jiraataa isa biyya kaabaatii fi biyyoota itti isaan bittinneesse hunda keessaa baasee fide sanaa’ ni jedhu. Ani biyya abbootii isaaniitiif kenne sanatti isaan nan deebisaatii.
16 Behold, sayth the Lord, I wil send out many fishers, and they shall fish them, and after, will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from euery mountaine and from euery hill, and out of the caues of the rockes.
“Amma immoo ani akka isaan qurxummii qabdoota hedduu fidaniif namoota nan erga” jedha Waaqayyo; “isaanis jara ni qabu. Ergasii ani akka isaan adamsitoota hedduu fidaniif namoota nan erga; isaanis tulluu hundaa fi gaara hunda irra, baqaqaa kattaa hunda keessas jara ni adamsu.
17 For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.
Iji koo karaa isaanii hunda irra jira; isaanis na duraa hin dhokatan; cubbuun isaaniis ija koo duraa hin dhokfamu.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquitie and their sinne double, because they haue defiled my lande, and haue filled mine inheritance with their filthie carions and their abominations.
Sababii isaan fakkiiwwan isaanii lubbuu dhabeeyyii faayidaa hin qabne sanaan biyya koo xureessanii, waaqota isaanii jibbisiisoo sanaanis handhuuraa koo guutaniif ani gatii hamminaa fi lubbuu isaaniitiif malu harka lama nan baasaaf.”
19 O Lord, thou art my force, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come vnto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers haue inherited lies, and vanitie, wherein was no profite.
Yaa Waaqayyo, jabina kootii fi daʼannoo ko, daʼoo koo kan yeroo rakkinaa, ormoonni handaara lafaatii gara kee dhufanii akkana jedhu, “Abbootiin keenya waaqota sobaa, waaqota tolfamoo faayidaa hin qabne kanneen waan gaarii tokko illee isaaniif hin goone sana malee homaa hin dhaalle.
20 Shall a man make gods vnto himselfe, and they are no gods?
Namoonni ofii isaaniitiif waaqota ni tolfatuu? Eeyyee, garuu isaan waaqota miti!”
21 Beholde, therefore I will this once teach them: I will shewe them mine hande and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.
“Kanaafuu ani isaan nan barsiisa; yeroo kanatti ani humna koo fi jabina koo isaan nan barsiisa. Yoos isaan akka maqaan koo Waaqayyo taʼe ni beeku.
