Jeremiah 16
1 The worde of the Lord came also vnto mee, saying,
La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, nor haue sonnes nor daughters in this place.
Tu ne prendras point de femme, et tu n'auras point de fils ni de filles en ce lieu.
3 For thus sayeth the Lord concerning the sonnes, and concerning the daughters that are borne in this place, and concerning their mothers that beare them, and concerning their fathers, that beget them in this land,
Car ainsi parle Yahweh touchant les fils et les filles qui naissent en ce lieu, et touchant les mères qui les enfantent, et touchant les pères qui les engendrent, en ce pays:
4 They shall die of deathes and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shalbe as dung vpon the earth, and they shalbe consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carkeises shall be meate for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.
Ils mourront de maladies mortelles; on ne leur donnera ni larmes ni sépulture; ils seront comme du fumier sur le sol. Ils périront par l'épée et la famine, et leurs cadavres seront la pâture des oiseaux du ciel et des bêtes de la terre.
5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither goe to lament, nor be moued for the: for I haue taken my peace, from this people, saith the Lord, euen mercy and compassion.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh: N'entre pas dans la maison de deuil; ne va point pleurer et te lamenter avec eux; car j'ai retiré ma paix à ce peuple, — oracle de Yahweh, ma grâce et ma compassion.
6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them nor cut themselues, nor make themselues balde for them.
Grands et petits mourront dans ce pays; ils n'y aura pour eux ni sépulture ni larmes; on ne se fera point d'incisions, on ne se rasera point pour eux.
7 They shall not stretch out the hands for the in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they giue them the cup of consolation to drinke for their father or for their mother.
On ne leur rompra point le pain du deuil, pour les consoler au sujet d'un mort, et on ne leur fera pas boire la coupe de consolation, pour un père et pour une mère.
8 Thou shalt not also goe into the house of feasting to sit with them to eate and to drinke.
Ne va pas dans la maison du festin pour t'asseoir avec eux, pour manger et pour boire.
9 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, euen in your dayes the voyce of myrth, and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Je vais faire cesser en ce lieu, sous vos yeux et de vos jours, le cri de joie et le cri d'allégresse, le chant du fiancé et le chant de la fiancée.
10 And when thou shalt shewe this people all these wordes, and they shall say vnto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against vs? or what is our iniquitie? and what is our sinne that we haue committed against the Lord our God?
Lorsque tu annonceras à ce peuple toutes ces choses, ils te diront: " Pourquoi Yahweh nous annonce-t-il tous ces grands malheurs? Quelle est notre iniquité, et quel est notre péché que nous avons commis contre Yahweh, notre Dieu? "
11 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, and haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,
Et tu leur diras: " C'est que vos pères m'ont abandonné, — oracle de Yahweh; et qu'ils sont allés après d'autres dieux, qu'ils les ont servis, et adorés, et que moi, ils m'ont abandonné, et qu'ils n'ont pas observé ma loi.
12 (And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)
Et vous, vous avez fait le mal plus que vos pères, et voici que vous allez chacun après la perversité de votre mauvais cœur, pour ne point m'écouter.
13 Therefore will I driue you out of this land into a lande that ye knowe not, neither you, nor your fathers, and there shall ye serue other gods day and night: for I will shew you no grace.
Je vous jetterai hors de ce pays dans un pays que vous n'aurez pas connu, ni vous, ni vos pères, et là vous servirez les dieux étrangers, la nuit et le jour; car je ne vous ferai point grâce. "
14 Behold therfore, saith the Lord, the dayes come that it shall no more be sayde, The Lord liueth, which brought vp the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
C'est pourquoi voici que des jours viennent, — oracle de Yahweh, où l'on ne dira plus: " Yahweh est vivant, lui qui a fait monter les enfants d'Israël du pays d'Egypte; "
15 But the Lord liueth, that brought vp the children of Israel from the lande of the North, and from all the landes where hee had scattered them, and I wil bring them againe into their land that I gaue vnto their fathers.
mais: " Yahweh est vivant, lui qui a fait monter les enfants d'Israël du pays du septentrion, et de tous les pays où il les avait chassés. " Et je les ramènerai dans leur pays que j'avais donné à leurs pères.
16 Behold, sayth the Lord, I wil send out many fishers, and they shall fish them, and after, will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from euery mountaine and from euery hill, and out of the caues of the rockes.
Voici que j'appelle en foule des pêcheurs, — oracle de Yahweh, — et ils les pêcheront. Et après cela, j'appellerai en foule des chasseurs, et ils les chasseront de toute montagne, et de toute colline, et des fentes des rochers.
17 For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.
Car mes yeux sont sur toutes leurs voies; elles ne sont pas cachées devant ma face et leur iniquité ne se dérobe point à mes regards.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquitie and their sinne double, because they haue defiled my lande, and haue filled mine inheritance with their filthie carions and their abominations.
Tout d'abord je leur paierai au double leur iniquité et leur péché, parce qu'ils ont profané mon pays; des cadavres de leurs idoles et de leurs abominations ils ont rempli mon héritage.
19 O Lord, thou art my force, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come vnto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers haue inherited lies, and vanitie, wherein was no profite.
Yahweh, ma force, mon rempart et mon refuge au jour de la détresse, les nations viendront à toi des extrémités de la terre et diront: Nos pères n'ont eu en héritage que le mensonge, des vanités qui ne servent à rien.
20 Shall a man make gods vnto himselfe, and they are no gods?
Se peut-il qu'un homme se fasse des dieux? Et ce ne sont pas des dieux!
21 Beholde, therefore I will this once teach them: I will shewe them mine hande and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.
C'est pourquoi voici que je vais leur faire connaître, cette fois-ci, je vais leur faire connaître ma main et ma puissance, et ils sauront que mon nom est Yahweh.
