Isaiah 64
1 Oh, that thou wouldest breake the heauens, and come downe, and that the mountaines might melt at thy presence!
O daß du doch den Himmel zerrissest, herabführest, so daß die Berge vor dir ins Wanken gerieten –
2 As the melting fire burned, as the fire caused the waters to boyle, (that thou mightest declare thy Name to thy aduersaries) the people did tremble at thy presence.
wie Feuer Reisig in Brand setzt und Feuer das Wasser in Sieden versetzt –, um deinen Namen deinen Widersachern kundzutun, damit die Völker vor dir erzitterten,
3 When thou diddest terrible things, which we looked not for, thou camest downe, and the mountaines melted at thy presence.
indem du furchtbare Taten vollführtest, die unsere Erwartung überstiegen! Ja, führest du herab, so daß die Berge vor dir ins Wanken gerieten!
4 For since the beginning of the world they haue not heard nor vnderstande with the eare, neither hath ye eye seene another God beside thee, which doeth so to him that waiteth for him.
Hat man doch von alters her nicht gehört noch vernommen, hat doch kein Auge es je gesehen, daß ein Gott außer dir für einen auf ihn Harrenden Taten vollbringt.
5 Thou diddest meete him, that reioyced in thee, and did iustly: they remembred thee in thy wayes: beholde, thou art angrie, for we haue sinned: yet in them is continuance, and we shall be saued.
Du kommst dem entgegen, der Freude daran hat, Gerechtigkeit zu üben, denen, die auf deinen Wegen deiner gedenken. Doch ach, du bist in Zorn geraten, denn wir haben gesündigt durch unsere Untreue allezeit und unsern Abfall.
6 But we haue all bene as an vncleane thing, and all our righteousnes is as filthie cloutes, and we all doe fade like a leafe, and our iniquities like the winde haue taken vs away.
So sind wir denn allesamt einem Unreinen gleich geworden und alle unsere Gerechtigkeitserweise sind wie ein besudeltes Gewand; wir sind allesamt verwelkt wie Laub, und unsere Sünden haben uns mit sich fortgerissen wie der Wind;
7 And there is none that calleth vpon thy Name, neither that stirreth vp himselfe to take holde of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from vs, and hast consumed vs because of our iniquities.
und niemand ist da, der deinen Namen noch anruft, niemand, der sich aufrafft, um an dir festzuhalten; denn du hast dein Angesicht vor uns verborgen und läßt uns unter dem Druck unserer Sünden vergehen.
8 But now, O Lord, thou art our Father: we are the clay, and thou art our potter, and we all are the worke of thine hands.
Nun aber, HERR – du bist ja unser Vater; wir sind der Ton, und du bist unser Bildner, und das Werk deiner Hände sind wir alle –:
9 Be not angry, O Lord, aboue measure, neither remember iniquitie for euer: lo, we beseech thee beholde, we are all thy people.
Zürne nicht unversöhnlich fort, o HERR, und gedenke nicht ewiglich unserer Schuld! Ach, blicke doch her: dein Volk sind wir alle!
10 Thine holy cities lye waste: Zion is a wildernes, and Ierusalem a desart.
Deine heiligen Städte sind zur Wüste geworden: Zion ist zur Wüste geworden, Jerusalem zur Trümmerstätte!
11 The House of our Sanctuarie and of our glorie, where our fathers praysed thee, is burnt vp with fire and all our pleasant things are wasted.
Unser heiliger und herrlicher Tempel, wo unsere Väter dir lobgesungen haben, ist in Flammen aufgegangen, und alle unsere Lieblingsstätten liegen in Trümmern!
12 Wilt thou holde thy selfe still at these things, O Lord? wilt thou holde thy peace and afflict vs aboue measure?
Willst du trotz alledem an dich halten, HERR? Willst du schweigen und uns erniedrigen bis zur Vernichtung?
