Isaiah 48
1 Hear yee this, O house of Iaakob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come out of the waters of Iudah: which sweare by the Name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousnesse.
« Écoutez ceci, maison de Jacob, vous qui êtes appelés par le nom d'Israël, et sont sortis des eaux de Judée. Vous jurez par le nom de Yahvé, et faire mention du Dieu d'Israël, mais pas dans la vérité, ni dans la droiture-
2 For they are called of the holy citie, and staie themselues vpon the God of Israel, whose Name is the Lord of hostes.
car ils se disent citoyens de la ville sainte, et s'en remettre au Dieu d'Israël; Yahvé des Armées est son nom.
3 I haue declared ye former things of old, and they went out of my mouth, and I shewed them: I did them suddenly, and they came to passe.
J'ai annoncé les choses anciennes dès les temps anciens. Oui, ils sont sortis de ma bouche, et je les ai révélés. Je les ai fait soudainement, et ils sont arrivés.
4 Because I knewe, that thou art obstinate, and thy necke is an yron sinew, and thy brow brasse,
Car je savais que tu étais obstiné, et ton cou est un tendon de fer, et ton front bronze;
5 Therefore I haue declared it to thee of old: before it came to passe, I shewed it thee, lest thou shouldest say, Mine idole hath done them, and my carued image, and my molten image hath commanded them.
C'est pourquoi je vous l'ai annoncé dès le début; avant que cela ne se produise, je vous l'ai montré; de peur que vous ne disiez: « C'est mon idole qui les a faites ». Mon image gravée et mon image fondue leur a commandé.
6 Thou hast heard, behold all this, and wil not yee declare it? I haue shewed thee newe things, euen now, and hid things, which thou knewest not.
Vous l'avez entendu. Maintenant, voyez tout ça. Et vous, ne le déclarerez-vous pas? « Je vous ai montré des choses nouvelles depuis ce temps, même des choses cachées, que vous n'avez pas connues.
7 They are created now, and not of olde, and euen before this thou heardest them not, lest thou shouldest say, Beholde, I knewe them.
Ils sont créés maintenant, et non pas d'autrefois. Avant aujourd'hui, tu ne les entendais pas, de peur que tu ne dises: « Voici, je les connaissais.
8 Yet thou heardest them not, neither diddest know them, neither yet was thine eare opened of olde: for I knewe that thou wouldest grieuously transgresse: therefore haue I called thee a transgressour from the wombe.
Oui, vous n'avez pas entendu. Oui, vous ne saviez pas. Oui, depuis longtemps, ton oreille n'a pas été ouverte, car je savais que tu étais très déloyal, et tu as été appelé transgresseur dès le ventre de ta mère.
9 For my Names sake will I defer my wrath, and for my praise will I refraine it from thee, that I cut thee not off.
Pour l'amour de mon nom, je retarderai ma colère, et pour mon éloge, je le retiens pour vous pour que je ne vous coupe pas la route.
10 Behold, I haue fined thee, but not as siluer: I haue chosen thee in the fornace of affliction.
Voici, je vous ai raffiné, mais pas en argent. Je t'ai choisi dans la fournaise de l'affliction.
11 For mine owne sake, for mine owne sake wil I doe it: for how should my Name be polluted? surely I wil not giue my glory vnto another.
Pour mon propre bien, pour mon propre bien, je le ferai; car comment mon nom serait-il profané? Je ne donnerai pas ma gloire à un autre.
12 Heare me, O Iaakob and Israel, my called, I am, I am the first, and I am the last.
« Écoute-moi, ô Jacob! et Israël mon appelé: Je suis lui. Je suis le premier. Je suis aussi le dernier.
13 Surely mine hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heaues: when I cal them, they stand vp together.
Oui, ma main a posé les fondements de la terre, et ma main droite a déployé les cieux. quand je les appelle, ils se lèvent ensemble.
14 All you, assemble your selues, and heare: which among them hath declared these thinges? The Lord hath loued him: he wil doe his will in Babel, and his arme shalbe against the Chaldeans.
« Assemblez-vous, vous tous, et écoutez! Qui parmi eux a déclaré ces choses? Celui que Yahvé aime fera ce qu'il aime à Babylone, et son bras sera contre les Chaldéens.
15 I, euen I haue spoken it, and I haue called him: I haue brought him, and his way shall prosper.
C'est moi, moi aussi, qui ai parlé. Oui, je l'ai appelé. Je l'ai amené et il fera prospérer son chemin.
16 Come neere vnto me: heare ye this: I haue not spoken it in secret from the beginning: from the time that the thing was, I was there, and now the Lord God and his Spirit hath sent me.
« Approche-toi de moi et écoute ceci: « Dès le début, je n'ai pas parlé en secret; à partir du moment où c'est arrivé, j'étais là. » Le Seigneur Yahvé m'a envoyé avec son Esprit.
17 Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, the Holy one of Israel, I am the Lord thy God, which teach thee to profite, and lead thee by the way, that thou shouldest goe.
Yahvé, votre Rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël, dit: « Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu, qui vous apprend à faire du profit, qui vous conduit par le chemin que vous devez suivre.
18 Oh that thou haddest hearkened to my commandements! then had thy prosperitie bene as the floude, and thy righteousnesse as the waues of the sea.
Oh, si vous aviez écouté mes commandements! Alors ta paix aurait été comme une rivière et ta justice comme les vagues de la mer.
19 Thy seede also had beene as the sande, and the fruite of thy body like the grauell thereof: his name should not haue bene cut off nor destroied before me.
Ta descendance aurait été comme le sable. et les descendants de ton corps comme ses grains. Son nom ne sera pas retranché ni détruit devant moi. »
20 Goe yee out of Babel: flee yee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of ioy: tel and declare this: shewe it foorth to the ende of the earth: say yee, The Lord hath redeemed his seruant Iaakob.
Quittez Babylone! Fuyez les Chaldéens! Avec une voix chantante, annoncez ceci, le raconter jusqu'au bout du monde; dire: « Yahvé a racheté son serviteur Jacob! »
21 And they were not thirstie: hee led them through the wildernesse: hee caused the waters to flowe out of the rocke for them: for he claue the rocke, and the water gushed out.
Ils n'ont pas eu soif quand il les a conduits à travers les déserts. Il a fait jaillir les eaux du rocher pour eux. Il a aussi fendu le rocher et les eaux ont jailli.
22 There is no peace, sayeth the Lord, vnto the wicked.
« Il n'y a pas de paix », dit Yahvé, « pour les méchants ».
