Isaiah 44
1 Yet nowe heare, O Iaakob my seruant, and Israel, whom I haue chosen.
Und nun höre, Jakob, mein Knecht, und du, Israel, den ich erwählt habe.
2 Thus sayeth the Lord, that made thee, and formed thee from the wombe: he wil helpe thee. Feare not, O Iaakob, my seruaunt, and thou righteous, whome I haue chosen.
So spricht Jehova, der dich gemacht und von Mutterleibe an dich gebildet hat, der dir hilft: Fürchte dich nicht, mein Knecht Jakob, und du, Jeschurun, [S. die Anm. zu 5. Mose 32,15] den ich erwählt habe.
3 For I will powre water vpon the thirstie, and floods vpon the drie grounde: I will powre my Spirit vpon thy seede, and my blessing vpon thy buddes.
Denn ich werde Wasser gießen auf das Durstige, und Bäche auf das Trockene; ich werde meinen Geist ausgießen auf deinen Samen, und meinen Segen auf deine Sprößlinge.
4 And they shall grow as among the grasse, and as the willowes by the riuers of waters.
Und sie werden aufsprossen zwischen dem Grase wie Weiden an Wasserbächen.
5 One shall say, I am the Lordes: another shalbe called by the name of Iaakob: and another shall subscribe with his hand vnto the Lord, and name himselfe by the name of Israel.
Dieser wird sagen: Ich bin Jehovas; und der wird den Namen Jakobs ausrufen; [d. h. als den, zu welchem er sich hält] und jener wird mit seiner Hand schreiben: Ich bin Jehovas, und wird den Namen Israels ehrend nennen. [Eig. wird Israel einen Ehrennamen geben]
6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel and his redeemer, the Lord of hostes, I am the first, and I am the last, and without me is there no God.
So spricht Jehova, der König Israels und sein Erlöser, Jehova der Heerscharen: Ich bin der Erste und bin der Letzte, und außer mir ist kein Gott.
7 And who is like me, that shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order before me, since I appointed the ancient people? and what is at hand, and what things are to come? let them shewe vnto them.
Und wer ruft aus [d. h. verkündet] wie ich, so verkünde er es und lege es mir vor! -seitdem ich das Volk der Urzeit eingesetzt habe? Und das Zukünftige und was da kommen wird, mögen sie [nämlich die Götzen] verkünden!
8 Feare ye not, neither be afraide: haue not I tolde thee of olde, and haue declared it? you are euen my witnesses, whether there be a God beside me, and that there is no God that I knowe not.
Erschrecket nicht und zittert nicht! Habe ich es nicht von längsther dich hören lassen und dir verkündet? und ihr seid meine Zeugen. Gibt es einen Gott [Eloah] außer mir? und es gibt keinen Fels, ich weiß keinen.
9 All they that make an image, are vanitie, and their delectable things shall nothing profite: and they are their owne witnesses, that they see not nor know: therefore they shalbe confounded.
Die Bildner geschnitzter Bilder sind allesamt nichtig, [Eig. eine Öde] und ihre Lieblinge nützen nichts; und die für sie [d. h. für die Götzen] zeugen, sehen nicht und haben keine Erkenntnis, damit sie beschämt werden.
10 Who hath made a god, or molten an image, that is profitable for nothing?
Wer hat einen Gott gebildet und ein Bild gegossen, daß es nichts nütze?
11 Beholde, all that are of the fellowship thereof, shall be confounded: for the workemen themselues are men: let them all be gathered together, and stand vp, yet they shall feare, and be confounded together.
Siehe, alle seine Genossen [Eig. die mit ihm [dem Götzen] verbunden sind; vergl. Hos. 4,17] werden beschämt werden; und die Künstler sind ja nur Menschen. Mögen sie sich alle versammeln, hintreten: erschrecken sollen sie, beschämt werden allzumal!
12 The smith taketh an instrument, and worketh in the coles, and facioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his armes: yea, he is an hungred, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.
Der Eisenschmied hat ein Werkzeug und arbeitet bei Kohlenglut, und er gestaltet es [das Götzenbild] mit Hämmern und verarbeitet es mit seinem kräftigen Arm. Er wird auch hungrig und kraftlos; er hat kein Wasser getrunken und ermattet.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out a line: he facioneth it with a red thread, he planeth it, and he purtreyeth it with the compasse, and maketh it after the figure of a man, and according to the beautie of a man that it may remaine in an house.
Der Holzschnitzler spannt die Schnur, zeichnet es ab mit dem Stifte, führt es aus mit den Hobeln und zeichnet es ab mit dem Zirkel; und er macht es wie das Bildnis eines Mannes, wie die Schönheit eines Menschen, damit es in einem Hause wohne.
14 He will hewe him downe cedars, and take the pine tree and the oke, and taketh courage among the trees of the forest: he planteth a firre tree, and the raine doeth nourish it.
Man haut sich Cedern ab, oder nimmt eine Steineiche oder eine Eiche, und wählt sich aus unter den Bäumen des Waldes; man pflanzt eine Fichte, und der Regen macht sie wachsen.
15 And man burneth thereof: for he will take thereof and warme himselfe: he also kindleth it and baketh bread, yet he maketh a god, and worshippeth it: he maketh it an idole and boweth vnto it.
Und es dient dem Menschen zur Feuerung, und er nimmt davon und wärmt sich; auch heizt er und bäckt Brot; auch verarbeitet er es zu einem Gott [El] und wirft sich davor nieder, macht ein Götzenbild daraus und betet es an.
16 He burneth the halfe thereof euen in the fire, and vpon the halfe thereof he eateth flesh: he rosteth the roste and is satisfied: also he warmeth himselfe and sayth, Aha, I am warme, I haue bene at the fire.
Die Hälfte davon hat er im Feuer verbrannt; bei der Hälfte davon ißt er Fleisch, brät einen Braten und sättigt sich; auch wärmt er sich und spricht: Ha! mir wirds warm, ich spüre Feuer.
17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, euen his idole: he boweth vnto it, and worshippeth and prayeth vnto it, and sayeth, Deliuer me: for thou art my god.
Und das Übrige davon macht er zu einem Gott, zu seinem Götzenbilde; er betet es an und wirft sich nieder, und er betet zu ihm und spricht: Errette mich, denn du bist mein Gott!
18 They haue not knowen, nor vnderstand: for God hath shut their eyes that they cannot see, and their heartes, that they cannot vnderstand.
Sie haben keine Erkenntnis und keine Einsicht; denn er hat ihre Augen verklebt, [O. denn ihre Augen sind verklebt] daß sie nicht sehen, und ihre Herzen, daß sie nicht verstehen.
19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor vnderstanding to say, I haue burnt halfe of it, euen in the fire, and haue baked bread also vpon the coles thereof: I haue rosted flesh, and eaten it, and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I bowe to the stocke of a tree?
Und man nimmt es nicht zu Herzen, und da ist keine Erkenntnis und keine Einsicht, daß man sagte: Die Hälfte davon habe ich im Feuer verbrannt, und auch habe ich auf seinen Kohlen Brot gebacken, Fleisch gebraten, und habe gegessen; und den Rest davon sollte ich zu einem Greuel machen, ich sollte ein Stück Holz anbeten?
20 He feedeth of ashes: a seduced heart hath deceiued him, that he cannot deliuer his soule, nor say, Is there not a lye in my right hand?
Wer der Asche nachgeht-ein betörtes Herz hat ihn irregeführt, so daß er seine Seele nicht errettet und sagt: Ist nicht Lüge in meiner Rechten?
21 Remember these (O Iaakob and Israel) for thou art my seruant: I haue formed thee: thou art my seruant: O Israel forget me not.
Gedenke dessen, Jakob und Israel! denn du bist mein Knecht. Ich habe dich gebildet, du bist mein Knecht; Israel, du wirst nicht von mir vergessen werden.
22 I haue put away thy transgressions like a cloude, and thy sinnes, as a mist: turne vnto me, for I haue redeemed thee.
Ich habe deine Übertretungen getilgt wie einen Nebel, und wie eine Wolke deine Sünden. Kehre um zu mir, denn ich habe dich erlöst!
23 Reioyce, ye heauens: for the Lord hath done it: shoute, ye lower partes of the earth: brast foorth into prayses, ye mountaines, O forest and euery tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Iaakob and will be glorified in Israel.
Jubelt, ihr Himmel! denn Jehova hat es vollführt; jauchzet, ihr Tiefen der Erde! brechet in Jubel aus, ihr Berge, du Wald und jeder Baum darin! Denn Jehova hat Jakob erlöst, und an Israel verherrlicht er sich.
24 Thus sayeth the Lord thy redeemer and he that formed thee from the wombe, I am the Lord, that made all things, that spred out the heauens alone, and stretched out the earth by my selfe.
So spricht Jehova, dein Erlöser und der von Mutterleibe an dich gebildet hat: Ich, Jehova, bin es, der alles wirkt, der die Himmel ausspannte, ich allein, die Erde ausbreitete durch mich selbst; [Eig. von mir aus]
25 I destroy the tokens of ye southsayers, and make them that coniecture, fooles, and turne the wise men backwarde, and make their knowledge foolishnesse.
der die Wunderzeichen der Lügner vereitelt und die Wahrsager zu Narren macht; der die Weisen zurückdrängt und ihr Wissen zur Torheit macht;
26 He confirmeth the worde of his seruant and performeth the counsell of his messengers, saying to Ierusalem, Thou shalt bee inhabited: and to the cities of Iudah, Yee shall be built vp, and I will repayre the decayed places thereof.
der das Wort seines Knechtes bestätigt und den Bescheid [Eig. was sie bestimmt haben] seiner Boten vollführt; der von Jerusalem spricht: Es soll bewohnt werden! und von den Städten Judas: Sie sollen aufgebaut werden, und ich will seine Trümmer wieder aufrichten!
27 He saith to the deepe, Be drye and I will drye vp thy floods.
der zu der Flut spricht: Versiege, und ich will deine Ströme [O. Strömungen] austrocknen!
28 He saith to Cyrus, Thou art my shepheard: and he shall performe all my desire: saying also to Ierusalem, Thou shalt be built: and to the Temple, Thy foundation shall be surely layed.
Der von Kores [Cyrus] spricht: Mein Hirt, und der all mein Wohlgefallen [O. meinen Willen] vollführt, indem er [Eig. und zwar indem er] von Jerusalem sprechen wird: Es werde aufgebaut! und vom Tempel: Er werde gegründet!
