Isaiah 11

1 But there shall come a rodde foorth of the stocke of Ishai, and a grasse shall growe out of his rootes.

Mais il sortira un rejeton du tronc d'Isaï, et un surgeon croîtra de ses racines.

2 And the Spirite of the Lord shall rest vpon him: the Spirite of wisedome and vnderstanding, the Spirite of counsell and strength, the Spirite of knowledge, and of the feare of the Lord,

Et l'Esprit de l'Eternel reposera sur lui, l'Esprit de sapience et d'intelligence, l'Esprit de conseil et de force, l'Esprit de science et de crainte de l'Eternel.

3 And shall make him prudent in the feare of the Lord: for he shall not iudge after the sight of his eies, neither reproue by ye hearing of his eares.

Et il lui fera sentir la crainte de l'Eternel, tellement qu'il ne jugera point sur la vue de ses yeux, et ne reprendra point sur l'ouïe de ses oreilles.

4 But with righteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with equitie shall he reprooue for the meeke of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lippes shall he slay the wicked.

Mais il jugera avec justice les chétifs, et il reprendra avec droiture, pour maintenir les débonnaires de la terre, et il frappera la terre par la verge de sa bouche, et fera mourir le méchant par l'esprit de ses lèvres.

5 And iustice shall be ye girdle of his loynes, and faithfulnesse the girdle of his reines.

Et la justice sera la ceinture de ses reins; et la fidélité, la ceinture de ses flancs.

6 The wolfe also shall dwell with the lambe, and the leopard shall lie with the kid, and the calfe, and the lyon, and the fat beast together, and a litle childe shall leade them.

Le loup demeurera avec l'agneau, et le léopard gîtera avec le chevreau; le veau, et le lionceau, et le bétail qu'on engraisse seront ensemble, et un petit enfant les conduira.

7 And the kow and the beare shall feede: their yong ones shall lie together: and the lyon shall eate strawe like the bullocke.

La jeune vache paîtra avec l'ourse, leurs petits gîteront ensemble, et le lion mangera du fourrage comme le bœuf.

8 And the sucking childe shall play vpon the hole of the aspe, and the wained childe shall put his hand vpon the cockatrice hole.

Et l'enfant qui tète s'ébattra sur le trou de l'aspic; et l'enfant qu'on sèvre mettra sa main au trou du basilic.

9 Then shall none hurt nor destroy in all the mountaine of mine holines: for the earth shalbe full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters that couer the sea.

On ne nuira et on ne fera aucun dommage [à personne] dans toute la montagne de ma Sainteté; parce que la terre aura été remplie de la connaissance de l'Eternel, comme le fond de la mer des eaux qui le couvrent.

10 And in that day the roote of Ishai, which shall stand vp for a signe vnto the people, the nations shall seeke vnto it, and his rest shall be glorious.

Car en ce jour-là il arrivera que les nations rechercheront la racine d'Isaï, dressée pour être l'enseigne des peuples; et son séjour [ne] sera [que] gloire.

11 And in the same day shall the Lord stretche out his hand againe the second time, to possesse the remnant of his people, (which shalbe left) of Asshur, and of Egypt, and of Pathros, and of Ethiopia, and of Elam, and of Shinear, and of Hamath, and of the yles of the sea.

Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, que le Seigneur mettra encore sa main une seconde fois pour acquérir le résidu de son peuple, qui sera demeuré de reste en Assyrie, en Egypte, à Pathros, à Chus, à Hélam, à Sinhar, à Hamath, et dans les Iles de la mer.

12 And he shall set vp a signe to the nations, and assemble the dispersed of Israel, and gather the scattered of Iudah from the foure corners of the worlde.

Et il élèvera l'enseigne parmi les nations, et assemblera les Israélites qui auront été chassés, et recueillera des quatre coins de la terre ceux de Juda qui auront été dispersés.

13 The hatred also of Ephraim shall depart, and the aduersaries of Iudah shalbe cut off: Ephraim shall not enuie Iudah, neither shall Iudah vexe Ephraim:

Et la jalousie d'Ephraïm sera ôtée, et les oppresseurs de Juda seront retranchés; Ephraïm ne sera plus jaloux de Juda, et Juda n'opprimera plus Ephraïm.

14 But they shall flee vpon the shoulders of the Philistims toward the West: they shall spoyle them of the East together: Edom and Moab shall be the stretching out of their hands, and the children of Ammon in their obedience.

Mais ils voleront sur le collet aux Philistins vers la mer; ils pilleront ensemble les enfants d'Orient; Edom et Moab [seront] ceux sur lesquels ils jetteront leurs mains, et les enfants de Hammon leur obéiront.

15 The Lord also shall vtterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptians sea, and with his mightie winde shall lift vp his hand ouer the riuer, and shall smite him in his seuen streames, and cause men to walke therein with shooes.

L'Eternel exterminera aussi à la façon de l'interdit la Langue de la mer d'Egypte, et lèvera sa main contre le fleuve par la force de son vent, et il le frappera sur les sept rivières, et fera qu'on y marchera avec des souliers.

16 And there shalbe a path to the remnant of his people, which are left of Asshur, like as it was vnto Israel in the day that he came vp out of the land of Egypt.

Et il y aura un chemin pour le résidu de son peuple qui sera demeuré de reste en Assyrie, comme il y en eut [un] pour Israël au temps qu'il remonta du pays d'Egypte.
