Hosea 10

1 Israel is a emptie vine, yet hath it brought foorth fruite vnto it selfe, and according to the multitude of the fruite thereof he hath increased the altars: according to the goodnesse of their lande they haue made faire images.

Israel é uma vide vasia; dá fructo para si mesmo: segundo a multidão do seu fructo, multiplicou os altares, segundo a bondade da sua terra, fizeram boas as estatuas.

2 Their heart is deuided: nowe shall they be founde faultie: he shall breake downe their altars: he shall destroy their images.

Lisonjeia-os o seu coração, agora serão culpados: cortará os seus altares, e destruirá as suas estatuas.

3 For now they shall say, We haue no King because we feared not the Lord: and what should a King doe to vs?

Porque agora dirão: Não temos rei, porque não tememos ao Senhor: que, pois, nos faria o rei?

4 They haue spoken woordes, swearing falsly in making a couenant: thus iudgement groweth as wormewoode in the furrowes of the fielde.

Fallaram palavras, jurando falsamente, fazendo um concerto: e florescerá o juizo como herva peçonhenta nos regos dos campos.

5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall feare because of the calfe of Beth-auen: for the people thereof shall mourne ouer it, and the Chemarims thereof, that reioyced on it for the glorie thereof, because it is departed from it.

Os moradores de Samaria serão atemorisados pelo bezerro de Beth-aven; porque o seu povo lamentará por causa d'elle, como tambem os seus sacerdotes (que por causa d'elle se alegravam), por causa da sua gloria, que pois se foi d'ella.

6 It shall bee also brought to Asshur, for a present vnto King Iareb: Ephraim shall receiue shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his owne counsell.

Tambem a Assyria será levada como um presente ao rei Jareb: Ephraim ficará confuso, e Israel se envergonhará por causa do seu conselho.

7 Of Samaria, the King thereof is destroyed as the some vpon the water.

O rei de Samaria será cortado como a escuma sobre a face da agua.

8 The hie places also of Auen shall be destroied, euen the sinne of Israel: the thorne and the thistle shall growe vpon their altars, and they shall say to the mountaines, Couer vs, and to the hils, Fall vpon vs.

E os altos de Aven, peccado de Israel, serão destruidos: espinhos e cardos crescerão sobre os seus altares; e dirão aos montes: Cobri-nos! e aos outeiros: Cahi sobre nós!

9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the daies of Gibeah: there they stoode: the battell in Gibeah against the children of iniquitie did not touch them.

Desde os dias de Gibeah peccaste, ó Israel; ali pararam: a peleja em Gibeah contra os filhos da perversidade não os accommetterá.

10 It is my desire that I should chastice them, and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall gather themselues in their two furrowes.

Eu os castigarei á medida do meu desejo; e congregar-se-hão contra elles os povos, quando os atar nos seus dois regos.

11 And Ephraim is as an heifer vsed to delite in threshing: but I will passe by her faire necke: I will make Ephraim to ride: Iudah shall plowe, and Iaakob shall breake his cloddes.

Porque Ephraim é uma bezerra acostumada, que gosta de trilhar; passei sobre a formosura do seu pescoço: porventura deixarei andar a cavallo Ephraim? Judah lavrará, Jacob lhe desfará os torrões.

12 Sowe to your selues in righteousnes: reape after the measure of mercy: breake vp your fallowe grounde: for it is time to seeke the Lord, till he come and raine righteousnesse vpon you.

Semeae para vós a justiça, segae para beneficencia, e lavrae o campo de lavoura; porque o tempo é de buscar ao Senhor, até que venha e chova a justiça sobre vós.

13 But you haue plowed wickednesse: ye haue reaped iniquitie: you haue eaten the fruite of lies: because thou didest trust in thine owne waies, and in the multitude of thy strong men,

Lavrastes a impiedade, segastes a perversidade, e comestes o fructo da mentira; porque confiaste no teu caminho, na multidão dos teus valentes.

14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy munitions shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbell in the daie of battell: the mother with the children was dashed in pieces.

Portanto, entre os seus povos se levantará um grande tumulto, e todas as tuas fortalezas serão destruidas, como Shalman destruiu a Beth-arbel no dia da guerra: a mãe ali foi despedaçada com os filhos.

15 So shall Beth-el doe vnto you, because of your malicious wickednes: in a morning shall the King of Israel be destroied.

Assim vos fará Beth-el, por causa da malicia de vossa malicia: o rei de Israel de madrugada será totalmente destruido.
