Hebrews 3
1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heauenly vocation, consider the Apostle and high Priest of our profession Christ Iesus:
C'est pourquoi, mes frères saints, qui êtes participants de la vocation céleste, considérez attentivement Jésus-Christ l'Apôtre et le souverain Sacrificateur de notre profession.
2 Who was faithfull to him that hath appointed him, euen as Moses was in al his house.
Qui est fidèle à celui qui l'a établi comme Moïse aussi [était fidèle] en toute sa maison.
3 For this man is counted worthy of more glory then Moses, inasmuch as he which hath builded the house, hath more honour then the house.
Or Jésus-Christ a été jugé digne d'une gloire d'autant plus grande que celle de Moïse, que celui qui a bâti la maison, est d'une plus grande dignité que la maison même.
4 For euery house is builded of some man, and he that hath built all things, is God.
Car toute maison est bâtie par quelqu'un: or celui qui a bâti toutes ces choses, c'est Dieu.
5 Now Moses verely was faithfull in all his house, as a seruant, for a witnesse of the thinges which should be spoken after.
Et quant à Moïse, il a bien été fidèle dans toute la maison de Dieu, comme serviteur, pour témoigner des choses qui devaient être dites;
6 But Christ is as the Sonne, ouer his owne house, whose house we are, if we holde fast that confidence and that reioycing of that hope vnto the ende.
Mais Christ comme Fils est sur sa maison; et nous sommes sa maison, pourvu que nous retenions ferme jusques à la fin l'assurance, et la gloire de l'espérance.
7 Wherefore, as the holy Ghost sayth, To day if ye shall heare his voyce,
C'est pourquoi, comme dit le Saint-Esprit: aujourd'hui, si vous entendez sa voix,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation, according to the day of the tentation in the wildernes,
N'endurcissez point vos cœurs, comme [il arriva] dans [le lieu de] l'irritation, au jour de la tentation au désert:
9 Where your fathers tempted me, prooued me, and sawe my workes fourtie yeeres long.
Où vos pères m'ont tenté et m'ont éprouvé, et [où] ils ont vu mes œuvres durant quarante ans.
10 Wherefore I was grieued with that generation, and sayde, They erre euer in their heart, neither haue they knowen my wayes.
C'est pourquoi j'ai été ennuyé de cette génération, et j'ai dit: leur cœur s'égare toujours et ils n'ont point connu mes voies.
11 Therefore I sware in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.
Aussi j'ai juré en ma colère: si [jamais] ils entrent en mon repos.
12 Take heede, brethren, least at any time there be in any of you an euill heart, and vnfaithfull, to depart away from the liuing God.
Mes frères, prenez garde qu'il n'y ait en quelqu'un de vous un mauvais cœur d'incrédulité, pour se révolter du Dieu vivant.
13 But exhort one another dayly, while it is called to day, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulnes of sinne.
Mais exhortez-vous l'un l'autre chaque jour, pendant que ce jour nous éclaire; de peur que quelqu'un de vous ne s'endurcisse par la séduction du péché.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we keepe sure vnto the ende that beginning, wherewith we are vpholden,
Car nous avons été faits participants de Christ, pourvu que nous retenions ferme jusqu'à la fin le commencement de notre subsistance.
15 So long as it is sayd, To day if ye heare his voyce, harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation.
Pendant qu'il est dit: aujourd'hui si vous entendez sa voix n'endurcissez point vos cœurs, comme il [arriva] dans [le lieu de] l'irritation.
16 For some when they heard, prouoked him to anger: howbeit, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
Car quelques-uns l'ayant entendue, le provoquèrent à la colère; mais ce ne furent pas tous ceux qui étaient sortis d'Egypte par Moïse.
17 But with whome was he displeased fourtie yeeres? Was hee not displeased with them that sinned, whose carkeises fell in the wildernes?
Mais desquels fut-il ennuyé durant quarante ans? ne fut-ce pas de ceux qui péchèrent, et dont les corps tombèrent dans le désert?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but vnto them that obeyed not?
Et auxquels jura-t-il qu'ils n'entreraient point en son repos, sinon à ceux qui furent rebelles?
19 So we see that they could not enter in, because of vnbeliefe.
Ainsi nous voyons qu'ils n'y purent entrer à cause de leur incrédulité.
