Genesis 6
1 So when men began to be multiplied vpon the earth, and there were daughters borne vnto them,
Da nu Menneskene begyndte at blive talrige paa Jorden og der fødtes dem Døtre,
2 Then the sonnes of God sawe the daughters of men that they were faire, and they tooke them wiues of all that they liked.
fik Gudssønnerne Øje paa Menneskedøtrenes Skønhed, og de tog saa mange af dem, som de lystede, til Hustruer.
3 Therefore the Lord saide, My Spirit shall not alway striue with man, because he is but flesh, and his dayes shalbe an hundreth and twentie yeeres.
Da sagde HERREN: »Min Aand skal ikke for evigt blive i Menneskene, eftersom de jo dog er Kød; deres Dage skal være 120 Aar.«
4 There were gyants in the earth in those dayes: yea, and after that the sonnes of God came vnto the daughters of men, and they had borne them children, these were mightie men, which in olde time were men of renoume.
I hine Dage, da Gudssønnerne gik ind til Menneskedøtrene og disse fødte dem Børn — men ogsaa senere hen i Tiden — levede Kæmperne paa Jorden. Det er Heltene, hvis Ry naar tilbage til Fortids Dage.
5 When the Lord sawe that the wickednesse of man was great in the earth, and all the imaginations of the thoughtes of his heart were onely euill continually,
Men HERREN saa, at Menneskenes, Ondskab tog til paa Jorden, og at deres Hjerters Higen og Tragten kun var ond Dagen lang.
6 Then it repented ye Lord, that he had made man in the earth, and he was sorie in his heart.
Da angrede HERREN, at han havde gjort Menneskene paa Jorden, og det skar ham i Hjertet.
7 Therefore ye Lord said, I will destroy from the earth the man, whom I haue created, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the foule of the heauen: for I repent that I haue made them.
Og HERREN sagde: »Jeg vil udslette Menneskene, som jeg har skabt, af Jordens Flade, baade Mennesker, Kvæg, Kryb og Himmelens, Fugle, thi jeg angrer, at jeg gjorde dem!«
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Men Noa fandt Naade for HERRENS Øjne.
9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a iust and vpright man in his time: and Noah walked with God.
Dette er Noas Slægtebog. Noa var en retfærdig, ustraffelig Mand blandt sine samtidige; Noa vandrede med Gud.
10 And Noah begate three sonnes, Shem, Ham and Iapheth.
Noa avlede tre Sønner: Sem, Kam og Jafet.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God: for the earth was filled with crueltie.
Men Jorden fordærvedes for Guds Øjne, og Jorden blev fuld af Uret;
12 Then God looked vpon the earth, and beholde, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupt his way vpon the earth.
og Gud saa til Jorden, og se, den var fordærvet, thi alt Kød havde fordærvet sin Vej paa Jorden.
13 And God said vnto Noah, An ende of all flesh is come before me: for the earth is filled with crueltie through them: and beholde, I wil destroy them with the earth.
Da sagde Gud til Noa: »Jeg har besluttet at gøre Ende paa alt Kød, fordi Jorden ved deres Skyld et fuld af Uret; derfor vil jeg nu udrydde dem af Jorden.
14 Make thee an Arke of pine trees: thou shalt make cabines in the Arke, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Men du skal gøre dig en Ark af Gofertræ og indrette den med Rum ved Rum og overstryge den med Beg baade indvendig og udvendig;
15 And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the Arke shalbe three hundreth cubites, the breadth of it fiftie cubites, and the height of it thirtie cubites.
og saaledes skal du bygge Arken: Den skal være 300 Alen lang, 50 Alen bred og 30 Alen høj;
16 A windowe shalt thou make in the Arke, and in a cubite shalt thou finish it aboue, and the doore of the Arke shalt thou set in the side thereof: thou shalt make it with the lowe, seconde and third roume.
du skal anbringe Taget paa Arken, og det skal ikke rage længer ud end een Alen fra oven; paa Arkens Side skal du sætte Døren, og du skal indrette den med et nederste, et mellemste og et øverste Stokværk.
17 And I, beholde, I will bring a flood of waters vpon the earth to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life vnder the heauen: all that is in the earth shall perish.
Se, jeg bringer nu Vandfloden over Jorden for at udrydde alt Kød under Himmelen, som har Livsaande; alt, hvad der er paa Jorden, skal forgaa.
18 But with thee will I establish my couenant, and thou shalt goe into the Arke, thou, and thy sonnes, and thy wife, and thy sonnes wiues with thee.
Men jeg vil oprette min Pagt med dig. Du skal gaa ind i Arken med dine Sønner, din Hustru og dine Sønnekoner;
19 And of euery liuing thing, of all flesh two of euery sort shalt thou cause to come into the Arke, to keepe them aliue with thee: they shalbe male and female.
og af alle Dyr, af alt Kød skal du bringe et Par af hver Slags ind i Arken for at holde dem i Live hos dig. Han og Hundyr skal det være,
20 Of the foules, after their kinde, and of the cattell after their kind, of euery creeping thing of the earth after his kinde, two of euery sort shall come vnto thee, that thou mayest keepe them aliue.
af Fuglene efter deres Arter, af Kvæget efter dets Arter og af alt Jordens Kryb efter dets Arter; Par for Par skal de gaa ind til dig for at holdes i Live.
21 And take thou with thee of all meate that is eaten: and thou shalt gather it to thee, that it may be meate for thee and for them.
Og du skal indsamle et Forraad af alle Slags Levnedsmidler, for at det kan tjene dig og dem til Føde.«
22 Noah therefore did according vnto all, that God commanded him: euen so did he.
Og Noa gjorde ganske som Gud havde paalagt ham; saaledes gjorde han.
