Genesis 33
1 And as Iaakob lift vp his eyes, and looked, behold, Esau came, and with him foure hundreth men: and he deuided the children to Leah, and to Rahel, and to the two maides.
Jacob hof upp sin ögon, och såg sin broder Esau komma med fyrahundrade män. Och skifte sin barn till Lea, och till Rachel, och till båda tjensteqvinnorna.
2 And he put the maides, and their children formost, and Leah, and her children after, and Rahel, and Ioseph hindermost.
Och skickade tjensteqvinnorna med deras barn främst; och Lea med hennes barn dernäst; och Rachel med Joseph efterst.
3 So he went before them and bowed him selfe to the ground seuen times, vntill he came neere to his brother.
Och han gick fram för dem, och bugade sig sju resor ned på jordena, till dess han kom fram till sin broder.
4 Then Esau ranne to meete him, and embraced him, and fell on his necke, and kissed him, and they wept.
Men Esau lopp emot honom, och tog honom i famn, och fick honom om halsen, och kysste honom; och de greto.
5 And he lift vp his eyes, and sawe the women, and the children, and saide, Who are these with thee? And he answered, They are ye childre whome God of his grace hath giuen thy seruant.
Och hof upp sin ögon, och såg qvinnorna med barnen, och sade: Ho äro desse med dig? Han svarade: Det äro barnen, som Gud dinom tjenare beskärt hafver.
6 Then came the maides neere, they, and their children, and bowed themselues.
Och tjensteqvinnorna gingo fram med deras barn, och bugade sig för honom.
7 Leah also with her children came neere and made obeysance: and after Ioseph and Rahel drew neere, and did reuerence.
Lea gick ock fram med sin barn, och bugade sig för honom. Sedan gick Joseph och Rachel fram, och bugade sig ock för honom.
8 Then he said, What meanest thou by all this droue, which I met? Who answered, I haue sent it, that I may finde fauour in the sight of my lorde:
Och han sade: Hvad vill du med allan den skaran, som jag hafver mött? Han svarade: Att jag måtte finna nåd för minom herra.
9 And Esau said, I haue ynough, my brother: keepe that thou hast to thy selfe.
Esau sade: Jag hafver nog, min broder; behåll det du hafver.
10 But Iaakob answered, Nay, I pray thee: if I haue found grace nowe in thy sight, then receiue my present at mine hande: for I haue seene thy face, as though I had seene the face of God, because thou hast accepted me.
Jacob svarade: Ack nej! hafver jag funnit nåd för dig, så tag min skänk af mine hand; förty jag såg ditt ansigte, lika som jag hade sett Guds ansigte; och tag det täckeliga af mig.
11 I pray thee take my blessing, that is brought thee: for God hath had mercie on me, and therefore I haue all things: so he compelled him, and he tooke it.
Tag den välsignelsen, som jag hafver fört till dig; ty Gud hafver mig det beskärt, och jag hafver all ting nog. Så nödgade han honom, till dess han anammade det.
12 And he saide, Let vs take our iourney and go, and I will goe before thee.
Och han sade: Låt oss fara framåt, och resa, jag vill fara med dig.
13 Then he answered him, My lord knoweth, that the children are tender, and the ewes and kine with yong vnder mine hande: and if they should ouerdriue them one day, all the flocke would die.
Men han sade till honom: Min herre, du vetst att jag hafver späd barn när mig, dertill får och fä, som än äro unge; när de en dag för hastigt drifne vordo, dödde mig hela hjorden.
14 Let now my lord go before his seruant, and I will driue softly, according to ye pase of ye cattel, which is before me, and as the children be able to endure, vntill I come to my lord vnto Seir.
Min herre fare fram före åt för sin tjenare: Jag vill sakta följa, efter som boskapen och barnen gå kunna, till dess jag kommer till min herra i Seir.
15 Then Esau said, I will leaue then some of my folke with thee. And he answered, what needeth this? let me finde grace in the sight of my lorde.
Esau sade: Så vill jag dock låta blifva när dig något af folket, som med mig är. Han svarade: Hvad görs det behof? Låt mig man finna nåd för minom herra.
16 So Esau returned, and went his way that same day vnto Seir.
Så for Esau den dagen tillbaka sin väg åt Seir.
17 And Iaakob went forwarde towarde Succoth, and built him an house, and made boothes for his cattell: therefore he called the name of the place Succoth.
Och Jacob for till Succoth, och byggde sig ett hus, och gjorde hyddor till sin boskap. Deraf heter det rummet Succoth.
18 Afterward, Iaakob came safe to Sheche a citie, which is in the lande of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram, and pitched before the citie.
Derefter kom Jacob till Salem, till den staden Sichem, som ligger i Canaans lande, sedan han var kommen utaf Mesopotamien, och gjorde sitt lägre för stadenom.
19 And there he bought a parcell of ground, where hee pitched his tent, at the hande of the sonnes of Hamor Shechems father, for an hundreth pieces of money.
Och köpte ett stycke åker af Hemors Sichems faders barnom, för hundrade penningar.
20 And he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.
Der slog han upp sin tjäll, och uppreste der ett altare, och åkallade dens starka Israels Guds namn.
