Genesis 12
1 For the Lord had said vnto Abram, Get thee out of thy countrey, and from thy kindred, and from thy fathers house vnto the land that I will shewe thee.
യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “നിന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കളെയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനക്കാരെയും വിട്ട്, ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് അവകാശമായി തരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുക.
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and will blesse thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing.
“ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വലിയൊരു ജനതയാക്കും; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും; നിന്റെ നാമം ഞാൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമാക്കും. നീ ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹമായിരിക്കും.
3 I will also blesse them that blesse thee, and curse them that curse thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും; നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ ശപിക്കും; ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവംശങ്ങളും നിന്നിലൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.”
4 So Abram departed, euen as ye Lord spake vnto him, and Lot went with him. (And Abram was seuentie and fiue yeere olde, when he departed out of Haran)
അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ തന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതനുസരിച്ച് അബ്രാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ലോത്തും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ പോയി. ഹാരാനിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ അബ്രാമിന് എഴുപത്തഞ്ച് വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
5 Then Abram tooke Sarai his wife, and Lot his brothers sonne, and all their substance that they possessed, and the soules that they had gotten in Haran, and they departed, to goe to the land of Canaan: and to the land of Canaan they came.
അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയെയും സഹോദരന്റെ പുത്രനായ ലോത്തിനെയും തങ്ങൾ ഹാരാനിൽവെച്ചു നേടിയ സകലസ്വത്തും ഹാരാനിൽവെച്ച് തങ്ങൾ സമ്പാദിച്ച സേവകരെയും കൂട്ടി കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു യാത്രതിരിച്ചു; അവർ കനാൻദേശത്ത് എത്തിച്ചേരുകയും ചെയ്തു.
6 So Abram passed through the land vnto the place of Shechem, and vnto the plaine of Moreh (and the Canaanite was then in ye land)
അബ്രാം ആ ദേശത്തുകൂടി ശേഖേമിലെ മോരേയിലുള്ള മഹാവൃക്ഷംവരെയും യാത്രചെയ്തു. അക്കാലത്ത് കനാന്യരായിരുന്നു ആ ദേശത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്.
7 And the Lord appeared vnto Abram, and said, Vnto thy seede will I giue this land. And there builded he an altar vnto the Lord, which appeared vnto him.
യഹോവ അബ്രാമിനു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി, “ഞാൻ ഈ ദേശം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു നൽകും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം തനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.
8 Afterward remouing thence vnto a moutaine Eastward from Beth-el, he pitched his tent hauing Beth-el on the Westside, and Haai on the East: and there he built an altar vnto the Lord, and called on the Name of the Lord.
അവിടെനിന്ന് അബ്രാം ബേഥേലിനു കിഴക്കുള്ള മലമ്പ്രദേശത്തേക്കു പോയി. അവിടെ തന്റെ കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറുവശത്തു ബേഥേലും കിഴക്കുവശത്തു ഹായിയും ആയിരുന്നു. അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹം യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിത് യഹോവയെ ആരാധിച്ചു.
9 Againe Abram went forth going and iourneying toward the South.
അബ്രാം പിന്നെയും ദക്ഷിണദിക്ക് ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി തന്റെ പ്രയാണം തുടർന്നു.
10 Then there came a famine in the land: therefore Abram went downe into Egypt to soiourne there: for there was a great famine in the lande.
ആ സമയത്ത് കനാൻദേശത്ത് ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായി; ക്ഷാമം രൂക്ഷമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് കുറച്ചുകാലം താമസിക്കുന്നതിനായി അബ്രാം ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു പോയി.
11 And when he drewe neere to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, Beholde nowe, I know that thou art a faire woman to looke vpon:
ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കാറായപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “നീ എത്ര സുന്ദരിയെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു,
12 Therefore it will come to passe, that when the Egyptians see thee, they will say, She is his wife: so will they kill me, but they will keepe thee aliue.
ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർ നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോൾ, ‘ഇവൾ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകുന്നു’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയും നിന്നെ സ്വന്തമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
13 Say, I pray thee, that thou art my sister, that I may fare well for thy sake, and that my life may be preserued by thee.
അതുകൊണ്ട് നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരി എന്നു പറയണം, അപ്പോൾ നീ നിമിത്തം അവർ എന്നോടു നന്നായി പെരുമാറുകയും എന്റെ ജീവൻ നഷ്ടപ്പെടാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
14 Nowe when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians behelde the woman: for she was very faire.
അബ്രാം ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ എത്തി, സാറായി അതിസുന്ദരി എന്ന് ഈജിപ്റ്റുകാർ കണ്ടു.
15 And the Princes of Pharaoh sawe her, and commended her vnto Pharaoh: so the woman was taken into Pharaohs house:
ഫറവോന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാർ അവളെ കണ്ടിട്ട് ഫറവോനോട് അവളെപ്പറ്റി പ്രശംസിച്ചു സംസാരിക്കുകയും അവളെ രാജകൊട്ടാരത്തിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
16 Who intreated Abram well for her sake, and he had sheepe, and beeues, and hee asses, and men seruants and maide seruants, and shee asses, and camelles.
അവൾനിമിത്തം ഫറവോൻ അബ്രാമിനോടു ദയാപൂർവം പെരുമാറി. അങ്ങനെ അബ്രാമിന് ആടുമാടുകൾ, ആൺകഴുതകൾ, പെൺകഴുതകൾ, ദാസീദാസന്മാർ, ഒട്ടകങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ഫറവോൻ നൽകി.
17 But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues, because of Sarai Abrams wife.
എന്നാൽ, യഹോവ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിനിമിത്തം ഫറവോനെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭവനക്കാരെയും മഹാരോഗങ്ങളാൽ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു.
18 Then Pharaoh called Abram, and saide, Why hast thou done this vnto me? Wherefore diddest thou not tell me, that she was thy wife?
അപ്പോൾ ഫറവോൻ അബ്രാമിനെ ആളയച്ചുവരുത്തി, “നീ എന്നോട് ഈ ചെയ്തതെന്ത്? ഇവൾ നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയാണെന്ന് എന്തുകൊണ്ട് എന്നോടു പറയാതിരുന്നു?
19 Why saidest thou, She is my sister, that I should take her to be my wife? Nowe therefore beholde thy wife, take her and goe thy way.
‘ഇവൾ എന്റെ സഹോദരിയാണ്’ എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തിന്? ഞാൻ അവളെ ഭാര്യയായി സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ സംഗതിയായല്ലോ? ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ, ഇവളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 And Pharaoh gaue men commandement concerning him: and they conueyed him forth, and his wife, and all that he had.
പിന്നെ ഫറവോൻ തന്റെ ആളുകൾക്ക് അബ്രാമിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് ആജ്ഞ നൽകുകയും അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഭാര്യയോടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലസമ്പത്തോടുംകൂടെ യാത്രയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
