Ezra 7
1 Now after these things, in the reigne of Artahshashte King of Persia, was Ezra the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Hilkiah,
figlio di Seraia, figlio di Azaria, figlio di Chelkia, Dopo questi avvenimenti, sotto il regno di Artaserse, re di Persia, Esdra,
2 The sonne of Shallum, the sonne of Zadok, the sonne of Ahitub,
figlio di Sallùm, figlio di Zadòk, figlio di Achitùb,
3 The sonne of Amariah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Meraioth,
figlio di Amaria, figlio di Azaria, figlio di Meraiòt,
4 The sonne of Zeraiah, the sonne of Vzzi, the sonne of Bukki,
figlio di Zerachia, figlio di Uzzi, figlio di Bukki,
5 The sonne of Abishua, the sonne of Phinehas, the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron, the chiefe Priest.
figlio di Abisua, figlio di Pincas, figlio di Eleàzaro, figlio di Aronne sommo sacerdote:
6 This Ezra came vp from Babel, and was a Scribe prompt in the Lawe of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had giuen, and the King gaue him all his request according to the hande of the Lord his God which was vpon him.
questo Esdra, partì da Babilonia. Egli era uno scriba abile nella legge di Mosè, data dal Signore Dio d'Israele e, poiché la mano del Signore suo Dio era su di lui, il re aveva aderito a ogni sua richiesta.
7 And there went vp certaine of the children of Israel, and of the Priests, and the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims vnto Ierusalem, in the seuenth yere of King Artahshashte.
Nel settimo anno del re Artaserse anche un gruppo di Israeliti, sacerdoti, leviti, cantori, portieri e oblati partirono per Gerusalemme.
8 And hee came to Ierusalem in the fift moneth, which was in the seuenth yeere of the King.
Egli arrivò a Gerusalemme nel quinto mese: era l'anno settimo del re.
9 For vpon the first day of the first moneth began he to goe vp from Babel, and on the first day of the fift moneth came he to Ierusalem, according to the good hande of his God that was vpon him.
Egli aveva stabilito la partenza da Babilonia per il primo giorno del primo mese e il primo del quinto mese arrivò a Gerusalemme, poiché la mano benevola del suo Dio era con lui.
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seeke the Lawe of the Lord, and to doe it, and to teach the precepts and iudgements in Israel.
Infatti Esdra si era dedicato con tutto il cuore a studiare la legge del Signore e a praticarla e ad insegnare in Israele la legge e il diritto.
11 And this is the copie of the letter that King Artahshashte gaue vnto Ezra the Priest and scribe, euen a writer of the words of the commadements of ye Lord, and of his statutes ouer Israel.
Questa è la copia del documento che il re Artaserse consegnò a Esdra sacerdote, scriba esperto nei comandi del Signore e nei suoi statuti dati a Israele:
12 ARTAHSHASHTE King of Kings to Ezra the Priest and perfite scribe of the Lawe of the God of heauen, and to Cheeneth.
«Artaserse, re dei re, al sacerdote Esdra, scriba della legge del Dio del cielo, salute perfetta. Ora:
13 I haue giuen commandement, that euery one, that is willing in my kingdome of the people of Israel, and of the Priestes, and Leuites to goe to Ierusalem with thee, shall goe.
da me è dato questo decreto. Chiunque nel mio regno degli appartenenti al popolo d'Israele, dei sacerdoti e dei leviti ha deciso liberamente di andare a Gerusalemme, può venire con te;
14 Therefore art thou sent of the King and his seuen counsellers, to enquire in Iudah and Ierusalem, according to the lawe of thy God, which is in thine hand,
infatti da parte del re e dei suoi sette consiglieri tu sei inviato a fare inchiesta in Giudea e a Gerusalemme intorno all'osservanza della legge del tuo Dio, che hai nelle mani,
15 And to carry the siluer and the gold, which the King and his cousellers willingly offer vnto the God of Israel (whose habitation is in Ierusalem)
e a portare l'argento e l'oro che il re e i suoi consiglieri inviano come offerta volontaria per devozione al Dio d'Israele che è in Gerusalemme,
16 And all the siluer and gold that thou canst finde in all the prouince of Babel, with the free offring of the people, and that which the Priestes offer willingly to the house of their God which is in Ierusalem,
e tutto l'argento e l'oro che troverai in tutte le province di Babilonia insieme con le offerte volontarie che il popolo e i sacerdoti offriranno per la casa del loro Dio a Gerusalemme.
17 That thou mayest bye speedily with this siluer, bullocks, rammes, lambes, with their meate offrings and their drinke offrings: and thou shalt offer them vpon the altar of the house of your God, which is in Ierusalem.
Perciò con questo argento ti prenderai cura di acquistare tori, arieti, agnelli e ciò che occorre per le offerte e libazioni che vi si uniscono e li offrirai sull'altare della casa del vostro Dio che è in Gerusalemme.
18 And whatsoeuer it pleaseth thee and thy brethren to do with the rest of the siluer, and gold, doe ye it according to the will of your God.
Quanto al resto dell'argento e dell'oro farete come sembrerà bene a te e ai tuoi fratelli, secondo la volontà del vostro Dio.
19 And the vessels that are giuen thee for the seruice of the house of thy God, those deliuer thou before God in Ierusalem.
Gli arredi che ti sono stati consegnati per il culto del tuo Dio, rimettili davanti al Dio di Gerusalemme.
20 And the residue that shall be needeful for the house of thy God, which shall be meete for thee to bestowe, thou shalt bestowe it out of the Kings treasure house,
Per il resto di quanto occorre per la casa del tuo Dio e che spetta a te di procurare, lo procurerai a spese del tesoro reale.
21 And I King Artahshashte haue giuen commandemet to all the treasurers which are beyond the Riuer, that whatsoeuer Ezra the Priest and Scribe of the Law of the God of heauen shall require of you, that it be done incontinently,
Io, il re Artaserse, ordino a tutti i tesorieri dell'Oltrefiume: Tutto ciò che Esdra, sacerdote e scriba della legge del Dio del cielo, vi domanderà, dateglielo puntualmente,
22 Vnto an hundreth talents of siluer, vnto an hundreth measures of wheate, and vnto an hundreth baths of wine, and vnto an hundreth baths of oyle, and salt without writing.
fino a cento talenti d'argento, cento kor di grano, cento bat di vino, cento bat di olio e sale a volontà.
23 Whatsoeuer is by the commandement of the God of heauen, let it be done speedily for the house of the God of heauen: for why should he be wroth against the realme of the King, and his children?
Quanto è secondo la volontà del Dio del cielo sia fatto con precisione per la casa del Dio del cielo, perché non venga l'ira sul regno del re e dei suoi figli.
24 And we certifie you, that vpon any of the Priestes, Leuites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or Ministers in this house of God, there shall no gouernour laye vpon them tolle, tribute nor custome.
Vi rendiamo poi noto che non è permesso riscuotere tributi e diritti di pedaggio su tutti i sacerdoti, leviti, cantori, portieri, oblati e inservienti di questa casa di Dio.
25 And thou Ezra (after the wisedome of thy God, that is in thine hand) set iudges and arbiters, which may iudge all the people that is beyond the Riuer, euen all that knowe the Lawe of thy God, and teach ye them that know it not.
Quanto a te, Esdra, con la sapienza del tuo Dio, che ti è stata data, stabilisci magistrati e giudici, ai quali sia affidata l'amministrazione della giustizia per tutto il popolo dell'Oltrefiume, cioè per quanti conoscono la legge del tuo Dio, e istruisci quelli che non la conoscono.
26 And whosoeuer will not doe the Lawe of thy God, and the Kings lawe, let him haue iudgement without delay, whether it be vnto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
A riguardo di chiunque non osserverà la legge del tuo Dio e la legge del re, sia fatta prontamente giustizia o con la morte o con il bando o con ammenda in denaro o con il carcere».
27 Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which so hath put in the Kings heart, to beautifie the house of the Lord that is in Ierusalem,
Benedetto il Signore, Dio dei padri nostri, che ha disposto il cuore del re a glorificare la casa del Signore che è a Gerusalemme,
28 And hath enclined mercy toward me, before the King and his counsellers, and before all the Kings mightie Princes: and I was comforted by the hand of the Lord my God which was vpon me, and I gathered the chiefe of Israel to goe vp with me.
e ha volto verso di me la benevolenza del re, dei suoi consiglieri e di tutti i potenti principi reali. Allora io mi sono sentito incoraggiato, perché la mano del Signore mio Dio era su di me e ho radunato alcuni capi d'Israele, perché partissero con me.
