Ezra 6

1 Then King Darius gaue commandement, and they made search in the librarie of the treasures, which were there layd vp in Babel.

Alors le roi Darius donna ordre, et on chercha dans la maison des archives où étaient déposés les trésors, à Babylone.

2 And there was founde in a coffer (in the palace that was in the prouince of the Medes) a volume, and therein was it thus written, as a memoriall,

Et on trouva à Akhmetha, dans la capitale qui est dans la province de Médie, un rouleau, et, dedans, un mémoire ainsi écrit:

3 IN THE FIRST yeere of King Cyrus, King Cyrus made a decree for the house of God in Ierusalem, Let the house be buylt, euen the place where they offred sacrifices, and let the walles thereof be ioyned together: let the height thereof be three score cubites, and the breadth thereof three score cubites,

La première année du roi Cyrus, le roi Cyrus donna l’ordre, touchant la maison de Dieu à Jérusalem: Que la maison soit bâtie pour être un lieu où l’on offre des sacrifices, et que ses fondements soient solides. Sa hauteur sera de 60 coudées, sa largeur de 60 coudées,

4 Three orders of great stones, and one order of timber, and let the expenses be giuen of the Kings house.

[avec] trois rangées de grandes pierres, et une rangée de bois neuf; et que les dépenses soient payées par la maison du roi;

5 And also let them render the vessels of the house of God (of golde and siluer, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, which was in Ierusalem, and brought vnto Babel) and let him goe vnto the Temple that is in Ierusalem to his place, and put them in the house of God.

et aussi que les ustensiles d’or et d’argent de la maison de Dieu, que Nebucadnetsar a sortis du temple de Jérusalem et a emportés à Babylone, soient rendus, et qu’on les porte au temple de Jérusalem, en leur lieu; et tu les placeras dans la maison de Dieu.

6 Therefore Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai, (and their companions Apharsecaie, which are beyonde the Riuer) be ye farre from thence.

Ainsi, Thathnaï, gouverneur de l’autre côté du fleuve, Shethar-Boznaï, et leurs collègues, les Apharsakites, qui êtes de l’autre côté du fleuve, tenez-vous loin de là;

7 Suffer ye the worke of this house of God, that the captaine of the Iewes and the Elders of the Iewes may buylde this house of God in his place.

laissez se faire le travail de cette maison de Dieu. Que le gouverneur des Juifs et les anciens des Juifs bâtissent cette maison de Dieu sur son emplacement.

8 For I haue giuen a commandement what ye shall doe to the Elders of these Iewes, for the buylding of this house of God, that of the reuenues of the King, which is of the tribute beyonde the Riuer, there be incontinently expenses giuen vnto these men that they cease not.

Et, de par moi, ordre est donné touchant ce que vous ferez à l’égard de ces anciens des Juifs pour la construction de cette maison de Dieu: Que, des biens du roi provenant du tribut de l’autre côté du fleuve, les dépenses soient promptement payées à ces hommes, pour qu’ils ne soient pas interrompus;

9 And that which they shall haue neede of, let it be giuen vnto them day by day, whether it be yong bullockes, or rammes, or lambes for the burnt offrings of the God of heauen, wheate, salt, wine, and oyle, according to the appoyntment of the Priestes that are in Ierusalem, that there bee no fault,

et que ce qui leur est nécessaire, jeunes taureaux, et béliers, et agneaux, pour les holocaustes au Dieu des cieux, froment, sel, vin, et huile, selon l’ordre des sacrificateurs qui sont à Jérusalem, leur soit donné, jour par jour, sans manquer,

10 That they may haue to offer sweete odours vnto the God of heauen, and praye for the Kings life, and for his sonnes.

afin qu’ils offrent de l’encens au Dieu des cieux et qu’ils prient pour la vie du roi et de ses fils.

11 And I haue made a decree, that whosoeuer shall alter this sentence, the wood shall be pulled downe from his house, and shall be set vp, and he shalbe hanged thereon, and his house shalbe made a dunghill for this.

Et de par moi ordre est donné, que si quelque homme change ce rescrit, un bois soit arraché de sa maison et dressé, et qu’il y soit attaché, et que sa maison soit réduite en un tas de fumier à cause de cela.

12 And the God that hath caused his Name to dwell there, destroy all Kings and people that put to their hand to alter, and to destroy this house of God, which is in Ierusalem. I Darius haue made a decree, let it be done with speede.

Et que le Dieu qui y a fait demeurer son nom renverse tout roi et peuple qui étendrait sa main pour changer [et] pour détruire cette maison de Dieu qui est à Jérusalem. Moi, Darius, j’ai donné [cet] ordre; qu’il soit promptement exécuté.

13 Then Tatnai the captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shethar Boznai and their companions, according to that which Darius had sent, so they did speedily.

Alors Thathnaï, gouverneur de ce côté du fleuve, Shethar-Boznaï, et leurs collègues, firent ainsi promptement, selon [l’ordre] que le roi Darius avait envoyé.

14 So the Elders of the Iewes builded, and they prospered by the prophecying of Haggai the Prophet, and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo, and they buylded and finished it, by the appoyntment of the God of Israel, and by the commandement of Cyrus and Darius, and Artahshashte king of Persia.

Et les anciens des Juifs bâtirent et prospérèrent par la prophétie d’Aggée, le prophète, et de Zacharie, fils d’Iddo. Et ils bâtirent et achevèrent, selon l’ordre du Dieu d’Israël et selon l’ordre de Cyrus, et de Darius, et d’Artaxerxès, roi de Perse.

15 And this house was finished the thirde day of the moneth Adar, which was the sixt yeere of the reigne of King Darius.

Et cette maison fut achevée le troisième jour du mois d’Adar: c’était la sixième année du règne du roi Darius.

16 And the children of Israel, the Priestes, and the Leuites, and the residue of the children of the captiuitie kept the dedication of this house of God with ioy,

Et les fils d’Israël, les sacrificateurs et les lévites, et le reste des fils de la transportation, célébrèrent la dédicace de cette maison de Dieu avec joie;

17 And offred at the dedication of this house of God an hundreth bullockes, two hundreth rams, foure hundreth lambes, and twelue goates, for the sinne of all Israel, according to the nomber of the tribes of Israel.

et ils offrirent pour la dédicace de cette maison de Dieu, 100 taureaux, 200 béliers, 400 agneaux, et, comme sacrifice pour le péché, pour tout Israël, douze boucs, selon le nombre des tribus d’Israël.

18 And they set the Priests in their order, and the Leuites in their courses ouer the seruice of God in Ierusalem, as it is written in the booke of Moses.

Et ils établirent les sacrificateurs dans leurs classes, et les lévites dans leurs divisions, pour le service de Dieu à Jérusalem, selon ce qui est écrit au livre de Moïse.

19 And the childre of the captiuitie kept the Passeouer on ye fourtenth day of the first moneth.

Et les fils de la transportation célébrèrent la Pâque le quatorzième [jour] du premier mois;

20 (For the Priests and the Leuites were purified altogether) and they killed the Passeouer for all the children of the captiuitie, and for their brethren the Priests, and for themselues.

car les sacrificateurs et les lévites s’étaient purifiés comme un seul [homme]: ils étaient tous purs; et ils égorgèrent la pâque pour tous les fils de la transportation, et pour leurs frères les sacrificateurs, et pour eux-mêmes.

21 So the children of Israel which were come againe out of captiuitie, and all such as had separated themselues vnto them, from the filthines of the Heathen of the land, to seeke the Lord God of Israel, did eate,

Et les fils d’Israël qui étaient de retour de la transportation [en] mangèrent, et, avec eux, tous ceux qui s’étaient séparés de l’impureté des nations du pays pour rechercher l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.

22 And they kept ye feast of vnleauened bread seuen dayes with ioy: for the Lord had made them glad, and turned the heart of the King of Asshur vnto them, to incourage them in the worke of the house of God, euen the God of Israel.

Et ils célébrèrent la fête des pains sans levain pendant sept jours, avec joie; car l’Éternel les avait rendus joyeux, et il avait tourné vers eux le cœur du roi d’Assyrie, pour fortifier leurs mains dans l’œuvre de la maison de Dieu, du Dieu d’Israël.
