Ezra 5

1 Then Haggai a Prophet and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo a Prophet prophecied vnto the Iewes that were in Iudah, and Ierusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, euen vnto them.

१त्यावेळी हाग्गय आणि इद्दोचा मुलगा जखऱ्या हे संदेष्टे देवाच्या नावाने यहूदा व यरूशलेममधील यहूद्यांना भविष्य सांगत असत.

2 Then Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Ieshua the sonne of Iozadak arose, and began to builde the house of God at Ierusalem, and with them were the Prophetes of God, which helped them.

२तेव्हा शल्तीएलचा मुलगा जरुब्बाबेल आणि योसादाकाचा मुलगा येशूवा यांनी यरूशलेममधील मंदिराच्या कामाला सुरुवात केली, देवाच्या सर्व संदेष्ट्यांनी त्यांना उत्तेजन दिले.

3 At the same time came to them Tatnai, which was captaine beyonde the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and their companions, and sayd thus vnto them, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundations of these walles?

३त्यावेळी ततनइ हा नदीच्या पलीकडील प्रांताचा अधिकारी होता. तो शथर-बोजनइ आणि त्यांचे सोबती जरुब्बाबेल, येशूवा आणि इतर जे बांधकाम करत होते त्यांच्याकडे गेले. त्यांना त्यांच्याकडे येऊन म्हणाले, “तुम्हास हे मंदिर व भिंत पुन्हा बांधायला परवानगी कोणी दिली?”

4 Then sayde we vnto them after this maner, What are the names of the men that buylde this buylding?

४ते असेही म्हणाले, “हे बांधकाम करणाऱ्या मनुष्यांची नावे काय आहेत?”

5 But the eye of their God was vpon the Elders of the Iewes, that they coulde not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they answered by letters thereunto.

५तरीही यहूदी नेत्यांवर देवाची कृपादृष्टी होती. त्यामुळे राजा दारयावेशाला ही खबर लेखी कळवून त्याचे उत्तर येईपर्यंत त्यांना मंदिराचे काम थांबवता आले नाही आणि बांधकाम चालूच राहिले.

6 The copie of the letter, that Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and his companions, Apharsechaie, (which were beyond the Riuer) sent vnto King Darius.

६नदीच्या अलीकडील अधिकारी ततनइ, शथर-बोजनइ आणि त्यांचे साथीदार मान्यवर लोक यांनी राजा दारयावेशला जे पत्र पाठवले त्याची ही प्रत आहे.

7 They sent a letter vnto him, wherein it was written thus, VNTO DARIVS the king, all peace.

७त्यांनी अहवाल पाठवला, त्यामध्ये लिहिले होते, राजा दारयावेश “सर्व कुशल असो

8 Be it knowen vnto the King, that we went into the prouince of Iudea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and beames are layde in the walles, and this worke is wrought speedily, and prospereth in their hands.

८हे राजा, आम्ही यहूदा प्रांतात महान परमेश्वराच्या मंदिराकडे गेलो. यहूदातील लोक मोठे दगड वापरुन हे मंदिर नव्याने बांधित आहेत. भिंतीत लांबरुंद लाकडे घालत आहेत. यहूदी लोक हे काम मोठया झपाट्याने आणि मेहनत घेऊन करत आहेत. ते झटून काम करीत असल्यामुळे लवकरच बांधकाम पुरे होईल.

9 Then asked we those Elders, and sayd vnto them thus, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundation of these walles?

९या कामाच्या संदर्भात आम्ही तेथील वडीलधाऱ्यांकडे चौकशी केली. त्यांना विचारले, ‘तुम्हास हे मंदिराचे बांधकाम करायला कोणी परवानगी दिली?’

10 We asked their names also, that we might certifie thee, and that we might write the names of the men that were their rulers.

१०आम्ही त्यांची नावेही विचारुन घेतली. त्यांचे पुढारीपण करणाऱ्यांची नावे तुम्हास कळावीत म्हणून आम्ही त्यांची नावे विचारली.

11 But they answered vs thus, and sayd, We are the seruants of the God of heauen and earth, and buylde the house that was buylt of olde and many yeeres ago, which a great King of Israel builded, and founded it.

११त्यांनी उत्तर दिले, ‘आम्ही आकाश आणि पृथ्वीच्या देवाचे सेवक आहोत. फार पूर्वी इस्राएलाच्या एका थोर राजाने बांधून पूर्ण केलेल्या मंदिराचेच आम्ही पुन्हा बांधकाम करत आहोत.”

12 But after that our fathers had prouoked the God of heauen vnto wrath, he gaue them ouer into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar King of Babel the Caldean, and he destroyed this house, and caryed the people away captiue vnto Babel.

१२आमच्या पूर्वजांच्या वागणुकीने स्वर्गातील देवाला चिडवून संतप्त केले. तेव्हा त्याने त्यांना बाबेलचा राजा नबुखद्नेस्सर खास्दी याच्या हाती दिले आणि त्याने मंदिराचा विध्वंस केला आणि लोकांस कैद करून बाबेलला नेले.

13 But in the first yere of Cyrus King of Babel, King Cyrus made a decree to buylde this house of God.

१३कोरेश बाबेलचा राजा झाल्यावर पहिल्या वर्षातच त्याने मंदिराची पुन्हा उभारणी करण्याचा विशेष हुकूमनामा काढला.

14 And the vessels of golde and siluer of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, that was in Ierusalem, and brought them into the Temple of Babel, those did Cyrus the king take out of the Temple of Babel, and they gaue them vnto one Sheshbazzar by his name, whome he had made captaine.

१४तसेच, देवाच्या मंदिरातून जी सोन्यारुप्याची पात्रे होती ती नबुखद्नेस्सराने यरूशलेमतल्या मंदिरातून काढून बाबेलच्या देवळात ठेवली होती. राजा कोरेशने ती शेशबस्सरच्या स्वाधीन केली. त्यास कोरेश राजाने अधिकारी म्हणून नेमले होते.

15 And he sayde vnto him, Take these vessels and goe thy way, and put them in the Temple that is in Ierusalem, and let the house of God be buylt in his place.

१५तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “ही पात्रे घे आणि यरूशलेमातील मंदिरात ठेव. देवाचे मंदिर त्याच्या ठिकाणावर पुन्हा बांध.”

16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar and layde the foundation of the house of God, which is in Ierusalem, and since that time euen vntill nowe, hath it bene in buylding, yet is it not finished.

१६तेव्हा शेशबस्सरने यरूशलेमात येऊन मंदिराचा पाया घातला आणि तेव्हापासून आजतागायत ते काम चाललेले आहे पण अजून पूर्ण झालेले नाही.

17 Nowe therefore if it please the King, let there be searche made in the house of the Kings treasures, which is there in Babel, whether a decree hath bene made by King Cyrus, to build this house of God in Ierusalem, and let the King send his minde concerning this.

१७तेव्हा आता जर राजाला चांगले वाटले तर यरूशलेमात मंदिर पुन्हा बांधण्याची राजा कोरेशाने खरोखरच आज्ञा दिली आहे का ते बाबेलाच्या राजभांडारात चौकशी करावी. मग राजाचा याबाबतीत काय निर्णय आहे ते आम्हास कळवावे.
