1 These also are the sonnes of the prouince, that went vp out of the captiuitie (whome Nebuchadnezzar King of Babel had caried away vnto Babel) and returned to Ierusalem, and to Iudah, euery one vnto his citie,
Questi son gli uomini della provincia che tornarono dalla cattività, quelli che Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia, avea menati schiavi a Babilonia, e che tornarono a Gerusalemme e in Giuda, ognuno nella sua città.

E di tra i figliuoli de’ sacerdoti: i figliuoli di Habaia, i figliuoli di Hakkots, i figliuoli di Barzillai, che avea preso per moglie una delle figliuole di Barzillai, il Galaadita, e fu chiamato col nome loro.
62 These sought their writing of the genealogies, but they were not founde: therefore were they put from the Priesthood.
Questi cercarono i loro titoli genealogici, ma non li trovarono; furon quindi esclusi, come impuri, dal sacerdozio;
63 And Tirshatha saide vnto them, that they should not eate of the most holy thing, tell there rose vp a Priest with Vrim and Thummim.

65 Beside their seruants and their maydes: of whome were seuen thousande, three hundreth and seuen and thirtie: and among them were two hundreth singing men and singing women.
senza contare i loro servi e le loro serve, che ammontavano a settemila trecento trentasette. Avean pure duecento cantori e cantatrici.
66 Their horses were seuen hundreth, and sixe and thirtie: their mules, two hundreth and fiue and fourtie:

67 Their camels foure hundreth, and fiue and thirtie: their asses, sixe thousand, seuen hundreth and twentie.

68 And certeine of the chiefe fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord, which was in Ierusalem, they offred willingly for the house of God, to set it vp vpon his fundation.
Alcuni dei capi famiglia, come furon giunti alla casa dell’Eterno ch’è a Gerusalemme, offriron dei doni volontari per la casa di Dio, per rimetterla in piè sul luogo di prima.
69 They gaue after their abilitie vnto the treasure of the worke, euen one and threescore thousand drammes of golde, and fiue thousand pieces of siluer, and an hundreth Priests garments.
Dettero al tesoro dell’opera, secondo i loro mezzi, sessantunmila dariche d’oro, cinquemila mine d’argento e cento vesti sacerdotali.
70 So the Priests and the Leuites, and a certeine of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
I sacerdoti, i Leviti, la gente del popolo, i cantori, i portinai, i Nethinei, si stabiliron nelle loro città; e tutti gl’Israeliti, nelle città rispettive.
