Ezekiel 15

1 And thee word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

Me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahvé en estos términos:

2 Sonne of man, what commeth of the vine tree aboue all other trees? and of the vine braunch, which is among the trees of ye forest?

“Hijo de hombre, ¿qué ventaja tiene la vid sobre cualquier otra madera, sobre todos los sarmientos que hay entre los árboles del bosque?

3 Shall wood bee taken thereof to doe any worke? or wil men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

¿Acaso se tomará de ella madera para hacer obra alguna? ¿O se hace de ella una estaca para colgar de ella un objeto?

4 Behold, it is cast in the fire to be consumed: the fire consumeth both the endes of it, and the middes of it is burnt. Is it meete for any worke?

He aquí que se echa al fuego para ser devorada; el fuego consume sus dos cabos, y también lo de en medio se quema. ¿Servirá acaso para obra alguna?

5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meete for no worke: how much lesse shall it bee meete for any worke, when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burnt?

Si estando incólume no servía para ninguna obra, ¡cuánto menos luego de consumida por el fuego y quemada servirá para una obra!

6 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, As the vine tree, that is among the trees of the forest, which I haue giuen to the fire to be consumed, so will I giue the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

Por eso, así dice Yahvé, el Señor: Lo que se hace con el leño de la vid entre las maderas del bosque, la cual Yo entrego como pasto al fuego, así haré con los habitantes de Jerusalén.

7 And I will set my face against them: they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them: and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them,

Volveré contra ellos mi rostro: de un fuego han escapado, y (otro) fuego los consumirá; y conoceréis que Yo soy Yahvé cuando vuelva mi rostro contra ellos.

8 And when I make the lande waste, because they haue greatly offended, saith the Lord God.

Y convertiré el país en un desierto, por cuanto se rebelaron contra Mí”, dice Yahvé, el Señor.
