Ezekiel 13

1 And the word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:

2 Sonne of man, prophecie against the prophets of Israel, that prophecie, and say thou vnto them, that prophecie out of their owne hearts, Heare the worde of the Lord.

« Fils de l’homme, prophétise contre les prophètes d’Israël, qui prophétisent, et dis à ceux qui prophétisent de leur chef: Ecoutez la parole de Yahweh:

3 Thus sayth the Lord God, Woe vnto the foolish Prophets that follow their owne spirit, and haue seene nothing.

Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Malheur aux prophètes insensés, qui suivent leur propre esprit, sans rien voir!

4 O Israel, thy Prophets are like the foxes in the waste places.

Comme des renards dans des ruines, tels sont tes prophètes, ô Israël.

5 Ye haue not risen vp in the gappes, neither made vp the hedge for ye house of Israel, to stand in the battel in the daye of the Lord.

Vous n’êtes pas montés aux brèches, et vous n’avez pas élevé de muraille autour de la maison d’Israël, pour tenir ferme dans la bataille, au jour de Yahweh.

6 They haue seene vanitie, and lying diuination, saying, The Lord sayth it, and the Lord hath not sent them: and they haue made others to hope that they would cofirme the word of their prophecie.

Ils ont des visions vaines, et des divinations de mensonge, ceux qui disent: Oracle de Yahweh, sans que Yahweh les ait envoyés, et qu’ils puissent espérer l’accomplissement de leur parole.

7 Haue ye not seene a vaine vision? and haue yee not spoken a lying diuination? ye say, The Lord sayth it, albeit I haue not spoken.

N’est-ce pas des visions vaines que vous voyez, des divinations mensongères que vous prononcez, quand vous dites: Oracle de Yahweh! et moi, je n’ai pas parlé?

8 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, Because ye haue spoken vanytie and haue seene lyes, therefore beholde, I am agaynst you, sayth the Lord God,

C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Parce que vous proférez la vanité, et que vous avez des visions de mensonge, voici que je viens à vous, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh.

9 And mine hande shalbe vpon the Prophets that see vanity, and diuine lies: they shall not be in the assemblie of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel: and yee shall know that I am the Lord God.

Ma main sera sur les prophètes qui ont des visions vaines et des divinations de mensonge: ils ne seront pas dans le conseil de mon peuple; ils ne seront pas inscrits dans le livre de la maison d’Israël, et ils n’entreront pas dans la terre d’Israël, — et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Yahweh, —

10 And therefore, because they haue deceiued my people, saying, Peace, and there was no peace: and one buylt vp a wall, and behold, the others daubed it with vntempered morter,

attendu qu’ils ont égaré mon peuple en disant: Paix! quand il n’y avait pas de paix. Mon peuple construit un mur et voici qu’ils le couvrent de plâtre!

11 Say vnto them which daube it with vntempered morter, that it shall fall: for there shall come a great showre, and I wil sende haylestones, which shall cause it to fall, and a stormie winde shall breake it.

Dis à ceux qui enduisent de plâtre, que le mur tombera. Viendra une pluie violente: Tombez, pierres de grêle! Vent des tempêtes, éclate!

12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not bee sayd vnto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye haue daubed it?

Voici que le mur est tombé! Ne vous dira-t-on pas: Où est le plâtre dont vous l’aviez couvert?

13 Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, I will cause a stormie winde to breake foorth in my wrath, and a great showre shall bee in mine anger, and hailestones in mine indignation to consume it.

C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Dans mon courroux, je déchaînerai un vent de tempêtes; dans ma colère, je ferai venir une pluie violente, et, dans mon courroux, des pierres de grêle pour exterminer.

14 So I wil destroy the wall that ye haue daubed with vntempered morter, and bring it downe to the ground, so that the fundation thereof shalbe discouered, and it shall fal, and ye shalbe consumed in the middes thereof, and ye shall know, that I am the Lord.

J’abattrai le mur que vous avez couvert de plâtre, je le renverserai par terre, et le fondement en sera mis à nu; il tombera, et vous périrez au milieu de ses décombres, et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.

15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath vpon the wall, and vpon them that haue daubed it with vntempered morter, and will say vnto you, The wall is no more, neither the daubers thereof,

J’assouvirai ma colère contre le mur, et contre ceux qui l’ont couvert de plâtre, et je vous dirai: Plus de mur! Plus de ces gens qui le replâtraient,

16 To wit, the Prophets of Israel, which prophesie vpon Ierusalem, and see visions of peace for it, and there is no peace, sayth the Lord God.

de ces prophètes d’Israël qui prophétisaient sur Jérusalem et qui voyaient pour elle des visions de paix, quand il n’y avait pas de paix, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh! »

17 Likewise thou sonne of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesie out of their owne heart: and prophesie thou against them, and say,

« Et toi, fils de l’homme, tourne ta face contre les filles de ton peuple qui prophétisent de leur propre chef, et prophétise contre elles,

18 Thus sayth the Lord God, Woe vnto the women that sowe pillowes vnder al arme holes, and make vailes vpon the head of euery one that standeth vp, to hunt soules: will yee hunt ye soules of my people, and will yee giue life to the soules that come vnto you?

et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Malheur à celles qui cousent des coussins pour toutes les jointures des mains, et qui font des oreillers pour toutes les têtes de toute taille, pour prendre les âmes au piège. Vous prendriez au piège les âmes de mon peuple, et vos âmes, à vous, vivraient!

19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barly, and for pieces of bread to slay the soules of them that shoulde not dye, and to giue life to the soules that should not liue in lying to my people, that heare your lies?

Vous m’avez déshonoré auprès de mon peuple, pour une poignée d’orge et pour un morceau de pain, faisant mourir des âmes qui ne doivent pas mourir, et faisant vivre des âmes qui ne doivent pas vivre, trompant ainsi mon peuple qui écoute le mensonge.

20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will haue to do with your pillowes, wherewith yee hunt the soules to make them to flie, and I will teare them from your armes, and will let the soules goe, euen the soules, that ye hunt to make them to flie.

C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Voici que j’en veux à vos coussins, par lesquels vous prenez les âmes au piège, et je les ferai s’envoler; ces coussins, je les déchirerai de dessus vos bras, et je délivrerai les âmes que vous prenez au piège, afin qu’elles s’envolent.

21 Your vailes also will I teare, and deliuer my people out of your hande, and they shalbe no more in your hands to be hunted, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord.

Je déchirerai vos oreillers, et j’arracherai mon peuple de vos mains, et ils ne seront plus une proie dans vos mains, et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.

22 Because with your lyes yee haue made the heart of the righteous sadde, whome I haue not made sad, and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not returne from his wicked way, by promising him life,

Parce que vous affligez le cœur du juste par des mensonges, quand moi-même je ne l’ai pas affligé, et que vous affermissez les mains du méchant, en sorte qu’il ne revienne pas de sa voie mauvaise, pour vivre,

23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanitie, nor diuine diuinatios: for I wil deliuer my people out of your hand, and ye shall know that I am ye Lord.

à cause de cela, vous n’aurez plus de visions vaines, et vous n’aurez plus de divinations; j’arracherai mon peuple de vos mains, et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh. »
