Ephesians 4
1 I therefore, being prisoner in the Lord, praie you that yee walke worthie of the vocation whereunto yee are called,
Koia ahau, ta te Ariki herehere, ka whakahau nei i a koutou kia rite ta koutou haere ki te karangatanga i karangatia ai koutou,
2 With all humblenesse of minde, and meekenesse, with long suffering, supporting one an other through loue,
Kia papaku rawa te ngakau, kia mahaki, kia manawanui, kia ata hanga tetahi ki tetahi, i runga i te aroha;
3 Endeuouring to keepe the vnitie of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Me whai kia mau te kotahitanga o te Wairua, he mea paihere na te rangimarie.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, euen as yee are called in one hope of your vocation.
Kotahi tonu te tinana, kotahi te Wairua, pera hoki me to koutou karangatanga, kotahi tonu te mea o to koutou karangatanga hei tumanakotanga atu;
5 There is one Lord, one Faith, one Baptisme,
Kotahi Ariki, kotahi whakapono, kotahi iriiri,
6 One God and Father of all, which is aboue all, and through all, and in you all.
Kotahi Atua, ko te Matua o nga mea katoa, kei runga nei ia i nga mea katoa, puta noa ia i nga mea katoa, kei roto hoki i te katoa.
7 But vnto euery one of vs is giuen grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Kua oti ia te aroha noa te homai ki tenei, ki tenei, o tatou, i runga i te mehua o ta te Karaiti homaitanga.
8 Wherfore he saith, Whe he asceded vp on hie, he led captiuity captiue, and gaue gifts vnto men.
Na reira hoki ia i mea ai, I tona kakenga ki runga, whakaraua ana e ia nga whakarau, a hoatu mea ana ia ma nga tangata.
9 (Nowe, in that hee ascended, what is it but that he had also descended first into the lowest partes of the earth?
Na ko tenei, I kake ia ki runga i te aha, mehemea kahore ia i matua heke ki nga wahi o raro rawa o te whenua?
10 Hee that descended, is euen the same that ascended, farre aboue all heauens, that hee might fill all things)
Tera i heke ra, ko ia ano i kake atu nei ki runga ake i nga rangi katoa, kia ki ai nga mea katoa i a ia.
11 Hee therefore gaue some to be Apostles, and some Prophets, and some Euangelists, and some Pastours, and Teachers,
A homai ana e ia ko etahi hei apotoro; ko etahi hei poropiti; ko etahi hei kaikauwhau i te rongopai; ko etahi hei hepara, hei kaiwhakaako;
12 For the repairing of the Saintes, for the woorke of the ministerie, and for the edification of the bodie of Christ,
Kia tino rite ai te hunga tapu mo te mahi minita, mo te hanga i te whare, ara i te tinana o te Karaiti:
13 Till we all meete together (in the vnitie of faith and that acknowledging of the Sonne of God) vnto a perfite man, and vnto the measure of the age of the fulnesse of Christ,
Kia tae katoa ra ano tatou ki te kotahitanga o te whakapono, o te matauranga hoki ki te Tama a te Atua, kia tino tangata, kia eke ki te mehua o te tino kaumatuatanga e tutuki ai ki to te Karaiti:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, wauering and caried about with euery winde of doctrine, by the deceit of men, and with craftines, whereby they lay in wait to deceiue.
Kia mutu ai to tatou tamarikitanga, te akina, te kahakahakina e nga hau katoa o te whakaako, he whakawiringa ke na te tangata, he maminga, he whakapohehe;
15 But let vs folowe the truth in loue, and in all things, grow vp into him, which is the head, that is, Christ.
Engari kia korero pono ai i runga i te aroha, kia tupu ai tatou ki roto ki a ia i nga mea katoa, ko te nei ia, ko te Karaiti:
16 By whome al the body being coupled and knit together by euery ioynt, for ye furniture therof (according to the effectual power, which is in the measure of euery part) receiueth increase of the body, vnto the edifying of itselfe in loue.

17 This I say therefore and testifie in the Lord, that yee hencefoorth walke not as other Gentiles walke, in vanitie of their minde,

18 Hauing their vnderstanding darkened, and being strangers from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardnesse of their heart:

19 Which being past feeling, haue giuen themselues vnto wantonnesse, to woorke all vncleannesse, euen with griedinesse.

20 But yee haue not so learned Christ,

21 If so be yee haue heard him, and haue bene taught by him, as the trueth is in Iesus,

22 That is, that yee cast off, concerning the conuersation in time past, that olde man, which is corrupt through the deceiueable lustes,

23 And be renued in the spirit of your minde,
Kia whakahoutia te wairua o to koutou hinengaro;
24 And put on ye new man, which after God is created vnto righteousnes, and true holines.
Kia kakahuria iho hoki ki a koutou te tangata hou, no ta te Atua nei te hanganga i runga i te tika, i te tapu o te pono.
25 Wherefore cast off lying, and speake euery man truth vnto his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Bee angrie, but sinne not: let not the sunne goe downe vpon your wrath,
Kia riri, a kaua e hara: kei toene te ra ki to koutou riri:
27 Neither giue place to the deuill.
Kaua hoki tetahi wahi e tukua ki te rewera.
28 Let him that stole, steale no more: but let him rather labour, and worke with his handes the thing which is good, that hee may haue to giue vnto him that needeth.
Ko te tangata tahae, me whakamutu tana tahae: engari me mahi, ko ona ringa ano hei mahi i te mea pai, kia whai rawa ai ia hei hoatutanga mana ki te rawakore.
29 Let no corrupt comunication proceed out of your mouths: but that which is good, to ye vse of edifying, that it may minister grace vnto the hearers.
Kei puta tetahi kupu kino i o koutou mangai, engari hei te mea e tau ana hei hanga i te pai, kia whiwhi ai ki te pai nga tangata e rongo ana.
30 And grieue not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed vnto ye day of redemption.
Kaua hoki e whakapouritia te Wairua Tapu o te Atua, nana nei koutou i hiri mo te ra o te whakaoranga.
31 Let all bitternesse, and anger, and wrath, crying, and euill speaking be put away from you, with all maliciousnesse.
Kia wehea rawatia atu i roto i a koutou te nanakia, te riri, te aritarita, te ngaungau, te korero kino, me te mauahara katoa:
32 Be ye courteous one to another, and tender hearted, freely forgiuing one another, euen as God for Christes sake, freely forgaue you.
Kia ngawari to koutou tikanga tetahi ki tetahi, kia pai te ngakau, me te hohou roa iho i te rongo tetahi ki tetahi, kia pera ano me te Atua i hohou nei i te rongo ki a koutou i roto i a te Karaiti.
