Ephesians 2
1 And you hath he quickened, that were dead in trespasses and sinnes,
あなたがたは自分の罪過と罪との中に死んでいた者であって、
2 Wherein, in times past ye walked, according to the course of this world, and after the prince that ruleth in the aire, euen the spirite, that nowe worketh in the children of disobedience, (aiōn g165)
そのころは、それらの罪の中にあってこの世の流れに従い、空中の権威を持つ支配者として今も不従順の子らの中に働いている霊に従って、歩んでいました。 (aiōn g165)
3 Among whom we also had our conuersation in time past, in the lustes of our flesh, in fulfilling the will of the flesh, and of the minde, and were by nature the children of wrath, as well as others.
私たちもみな、かつては不従順の子らの中にあって、自分の肉の欲の中に生き、肉と心の望むままを行ない、ほかの人たちと同じように、生まれながら御怒りを受けるべき子らでした。
4 But God which is rich in mercie, through his great loue wherewith he loued vs,
しかし、あわれみ豊かな神は、私たちを愛してくださったその大きな愛のゆえに、
5 Euen when we were dead by sinnes, hath quickened vs together in Christ, by whose grace ye are saued,
罪過の中に死んでいたこの私たちをキリストとともに生かし、――あなたがたが救われたのは、ただ恵みによるのです。――
6 And hath raysed vs vp together, and made vs sit together in the heauenly places in Christ Iesus,
キリスト・イエスにおいて、ともによみがえらせ、ともに天の所にすわらせてくださいました。
7 That he might shewe in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace, through his kindnesse toward vs in Christ Iesus. (aiōn g165)
それは、あとに来る世々において、このすぐれて豊かな御恵みを、キリスト・イエスにおいて私たちに賜わる慈愛によって明らかにお示しになるためでした。 (aiōn g165)
8 For by grace are ye saued through faith, and that not of your selues: it is the gift of God,
あなたがたは、恵みのゆえに、信仰によって救われたのです。それは、自分自身から出たことではなく、神からの賜物です。
9 Not of workes, least any man should boast himselfe.
行ないによるのではありません。だれも誇ることのないためです。
10 For we are his workemanship created in Christ Iesus vnto good workes, which God hath ordeined, that we should walke in them.
私たちは神の作品であって、良い行ないをするためにキリスト・イエスにあって造られたのです。神は、私たちが良い行ないに歩むように、その良い行ないをもあらかじめ備えてくださったのです。
11 Wherefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, and called vncircumcision of them, which are called circumcision in the flesh, made with hands,
ですから、思い出してください。あなたがたは、以前は肉において異邦人でした。すなわち、肉において人の手による、いわゆる割礼を持つ人々からは、無割礼の人々と呼ばれる者であって、
12 That ye were, I say, at that time without Christ, and were alients from the common wealth of Israel, and were strangers from the couenants of promise, and had no hope, and were without God in the world.
そのころのあなたがたは、キリストから離れ、イスラエルの国から除外され、約束の契約については他国人であり、この世にあって望みもなく、神もない人たちでした。
13 But nowe in Christ Iesus, ye which once were farre off, are made neere by the blood of Christ.
しかし、以前は遠く離れていたあなたがたも、今ではキリスト・イエスの中にあることにより、キリストの血によって近い者とされたのです。
14 For he is our peace, which hath made of both one, and hath broken the stoppe of the partition wall,
キリストこそ私たちの平和であり、二つのものを一つにし、隔ての壁を打ちこわし、
15 In abrogating through his flesh the hatred, that is, the Lawe of commandements which standeth in ordinances, for to make of twaine one newe man in himselfe, so making peace,
ご自分の肉において、敵意を廃棄された方です。敵意とは、さまざまの規定から成り立っている戒めの律法なのです。このことは、二つのものをご自身において新しいひとりの人に造り上げて、平和を実現するためであり、
16 And that he might reconcile both vnto God in one body by his crosse, and slay hatred thereby,
また、両者を一つのからだとして、十字架によって神と和解させるためなのです。敵意は十字架によって葬り去られました。
17 And came, and preached peace to you which were afarre off, and to them that were neere.
それからキリストは来られて、遠くにいたあなたがたに平和を宣べ、近くにいた人たちにも平和を宣べられました。
18 For through him we both haue an entrance vnto the Father by one Spirit.
私たちは、このキリストによって、両者ともに一つの御霊において、父のみもとに近づくことができるのです。
19 Nowe therefore ye are no more strangers and forreiners: but citizens with the Saintes, and of the houshold of God,
こういうわけで、あなたがたは、もはや他国人でも寄留者でもなく、今は聖徒たちと同じ国民であり、神の家族なのです。
20 And are built vpon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Iesus Christ himselfe being the chiefe corner stone,
あなたがたは使徒と預言者という土台の上に建てられており、キリスト・イエスご自身がその礎石です。
21 In whom all the building coupled together, groweth vnto an holy Temple in the Lord.
この方にあって、組み合わされた建物の全体が成長し、主にある聖なる宮となるのであり、
22 In whom ye also are built together to be the habitation of God by the Spirit.
このキリストにあって、あなたがたもともに建てられ、御霊によって神の御住まいとなるのです。
