Deuteronomy 1
1 These bee the wordes which Moses spake vnto all Israel, on this side Iorden in the wildernesse, in the plaine, ouer against the red Sea, betweene Paran and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Di-zahab.
Estas são as palavras que falou Moisés a todo Israel desta parte do Jordão no deserto, na planície diante do mar Vermelho, entre Parã, e Tofel, e Labã, e Hazerote, e Di-Zaabe.
2 There are eleuen dayes iourney from Horeb vnto Kadesh-barnea, by the way of mout Seir.
Onze jornadas há desde Horebe, caminho do monte de Seir, até Cades-Barneia.
3 And it came to passe in the first day of the eleuenth moneth, in the fourtieth yeere that Moses spake vnto the children of Israel according vnto all that the Lord had giuen him in commandement vnto them,
E foi, que aos quarenta anos, no mês décimo primeiro, ao primeiro dia do mês, Moisés falou aos filhos de Israel conforme todas as coisas que o SENHOR lhe havia mandado acerca deles;
4 After that he had slaine Sihon the king of the Amorites which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, which dwelt at Ashtaroth in Edrei.
Depois que feriu a Seom rei dos amorreus, que habitava em Hesbom, e a Ogue rei de Basã, que habitava em Astarote em Edrei:
5 On this side Iorden in the lande of Moab began Moses to declare this lawe, saying,
Desta parte do Jordão, em terra de Moabe, resolveu Moisés declarar esta lei, dizendo:
6 The Lord our God spake vnto vs in Horeb, saying, Ye haue dwelt long ynough in this mount,
O SENHOR nosso Deus nos falou em Horebe, dizendo: Demais haveis estado neste monte;
7 Turne you and depart, and goe vnto the mountaine of the Amorites, and vnto all places neere thereunto in the plaine, in the mountaine, or in the valley: both Southwarde, and to the Sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and vnto Lebanon: euen vnto the great riuer, the riuer Perath.
Voltai-vos, parti-vos e ide ao monte dos amorreus, e a todos seus vizinhos, na planície, no monte, e nos vales, e ao sul, e à costa do mar, à terra dos cananeus, e o Líbano, até o grande rio, o rio Eufrates.
8 Beholde, I haue set the land before you: go in and possesse that land which the Lord sware vnto your fathers, Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, to giue vnto them and to their seede after them.
Olhai, eu dei a terra em vossa presença; entrai e possuí a terra que o SENHOR jurou a vossos pais Abraão, Isaque, e Jacó, que lhes daria a eles e à sua descendência depois deles.
9 And I spake vnto you the same time, saying, I am not able to beare you my selfe alone:
E eu vos falei então, dizendo: Eu não posso vos levar só:
10 The Lord your God hath multiplied you: and beholde, ye are this day as the starres of heauen in nomber:
O SENHOR vosso Deus vos multiplicou, e eis que sois hoje vós como as estrelas do céu em abundância.
11 (The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many moe as ye are, and blesse you, as he hath promised you)
O SENHOR Deus de vossos pais acrescente sobre vós como sois mil vezes, e vos abençoe, como vos prometeu!
12 Howe can I alone beare your combrance and your charge, and your strife?
Como levarei eu só vossos problemas, vossas cargas, e vossos pleitos?
13 Bring you men of wisedome and of vnderstanding, and knowen among your tribes, and I will make them rulers ouer you:
Dai-me dentre vós, de vossas tribos, homens sábios e entendidos e experientes, para que eu os ponha por vossos chefes.
14 Then ye answered me and said, The thing is good that thou hast commanded vs to doe.
E me respondestes, e dissestes: Bom é fazer o que disseste.
15 So I tooke the chiefe of your tribes wise and knowen men, and made them rulers ouer you, captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer hundreds, and captaines ouer fiftie, and captaines ouer tenne, and officers among your tribes.
E tomei os principais de vossas tribos, homens sábios e experientes, e os pus por chefes sobre vós, chefes de milhares, e chefes de centenas, e chefes de cinquenta, e líderes de dez, e governadores a vossas tribos.
16 And I charged your iudges that same time, saying, Heare the controuersies betweene your brethren, and iudge righteously betweene euery man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
E então mandei a vossos juízes, dizendo: Ouvi entre vossos irmãos, e julgai justamente entre o homem e seu irmão, e o que lhe é estrangeiro.
17 Ye shall haue no respect of person in iudgement, but shall heare the small aswell as the great: yee shall not feare the face of man: for the iudgement is Gods: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring vnto me, and I will heare it.
Não tenhais acepção de pessoas no juízo: tanto ao pequeno como ao grande ouvireis: não tereis temor de ninguém, porque o juízo é de Deus: e a causa que vos for difícil, a trareis a mim, e eu a ouvirei.
18 Also I commanded you the same time all the things which ye should doe.
Eu vos mandei, pois, naquele tempo tudo o que havíeis de fazer.
19 Then we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wildernesse (as yee haue seene) by the way of the mountaine of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded vs: and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
Então partimos de Horebe, e andamos por todo aquele grande e temível deserto que vistes, pelo caminho montanhoso dos amorreus, como o SENHOR, nosso Deus, havia nos mandado; e chegamos a Cades-Barneia.
20 And I saide vnto you, Yee are come vnto the mountaine of the Amorites, which the Lord our God doeth giue vnto vs.
Então eu vos disse: ‘Chegastes à região montanhosa dos amorreus, a qual o SENHOR, nosso Deus, nos dá.
21 Beholde, the Lord thy God hath layde the land before thee: go vp and possesse it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath saide vnto thee: feare not, neither be discouraged.
Eis que o SENHOR, teu Deus, deu diante de ti esta terra; sobe e tomai posse dela, como o SENHOR, o Deus dos teus pais, te disse; não temas nem te apavores.’
22 Then ye came vnto me euery one, and said, We wil send men before vs, to search vs out the land and to bring vs word againe, what way we must go vp by, and vnto what cities we shall come.
Então todos vós vos aproximastes de mim, e dissestes: ‘Enviemos homens adiante de nós, que nos reconheçam a terra, e nos tragam de volta relato de qual caminho por onde devemos subir, e das cidades aonde devemos ir.’
23 So the saying pleased me well, and I tooke twelue men of you, of euery tribe one.
E isso me pareceu bem. Então tomei doze homens de vós, um homem de cada tribo.
24 Who departed, and went vp into the mountaine, and came vnto the riuer Eshcol, and searched out the land.
Eles se foram, subiram às montanhas, chegaram ao vale de Escol, e o reconheceram.
25 And tooke of the fruite of the land in their hands, and brought it vnto vs, and brought vs worde againe, and sayd, It is a good land, which the Lord our God doeth giue vs.
E tomaram em suas mãos do fruto daquela terra, e o trouxeram a nós, e nos contaram, e disseram: ‘A terra que o SENHOR, nosso Deus, nos dá, é boa.’
26 Notwithstanding, ye would not go vp, but were disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord your God,
Porém não quisestes subir, mas fostes rebeldes à ordem do SENHOR, vosso Deus;
27 And murmured in your tentes, and sayd, Because the Lord hated vs, therefore hath hee brought vs out of the land of Egypt, to deliuer vs into the hand of the Amorites, and to destroy vs.
E murmurastes em vossas tendas, dizendo: ‘É porque o SENHOR nos odeia que ele nos tirou da terra do Egito, para nos entregar nas mãos dos amorreus, para nos destruir.
28 Whither shall we go vp? our brethren haue discouraged our hearts, saying, The people is greater, and taller then we: the cities are great and walled vp to heauen: and moreouer we haue seene the sonnes of the Anakims there.
Para onde subiremos? Nossos irmãos fizeram derreter o nosso coração, dizendo: Este povo é maior e mais alto que nós, as cidades são grandes e muradas até o céu; e também vimos ali filhos de gigantes.’
29 But I sayd vnto you, Dread not, nor be afrayd of them.
Então vos disse: Não temais, nem tenhais medo deles.
30 The Lord your God, who goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did vnto you in Egypt before your eyes,
O SENHOR vosso Deus, o qual vai diante de vós, ele lutará por vós, conforme todas as coisas que fez por vós no Egito diante vossos olhos;
31 And in the wildernesse, where thou hast seene how the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doeth beare his sonne, in all the way which ye haue gone, vntill ye came vnto this place.
E no deserto viste que o SENHOR teu Deus te trouxe, como traz o homem a seu filho, por todo o caminho que andastes, até que viestes a este lugar.
32 Yet for all this ye did not beleeue the Lord your God,
E ainda com isto não crestes no SENHOR vosso Deus,
33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tentes in, in fire by night, that ye might see what way to goe, and in a cloude by day.
O qual ia diante de vós pelo caminho, para reconhecer-vos o lugar onde havíeis de assentar o acampamento, com fogo de noite para vos mostrar o caminho por onde andásseis, e com nuvem de dia.
34 Then the Lord heard the voyce of your wordes, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
E ouviu o SENHOR a voz de vossas palavras, e irou-se, e jurou dizendo:
35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this froward generation, see that good land, which I sware to giue vnto your fathers,
Não verá homem algum destes desta má geração, a boa terra que jurei havia de dar a vossos pais,
36 Saue Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh: he shall see it, and to him will I giue the land that he hath troden vpon, and to his children, because he hath constantly followed the Lord.
Exceto Calebe filho de Jefoné: ele a verá, e a ele lhe darei a terra que pisou, e a seus filhos; porque cumpriu em seguir ao SENHOR.
37 Also the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not goe in thither,
E também contra mim se irou o SENHOR por vós, dizendo: Tampouco tu entrarás ali:
38 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: incourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherite it.
Josué filho de Num, que está diante de ti, ele entrará ali: anima-o; porque ele a fará herdar a Israel.
39 Moreouer, your children, which ye sayd should be a praye, and your sonnes, which in that day had no knowledge betweene good and euill, they shall go in thither, and vnto them wil I giue it, and they shall possesse it.
E vossas crianças, das quais dissestes serão por presa, e vossos filhos que não sabem hoje bem nem mal, eles entrarão ali, e a eles a darei, e eles a herdarão.
40 But as for you, turne backe, and take your iourney into the wildernesse by the way of the red Sea.
E vós voltai-vos, e parti-vos ao deserto caminho do mar Vermelho.
41 Then ye answered and sayd vnto me, We haue sinned against the Lord, we wil go vp, and fight, according to all that the Lord our God hath commanded vs: and ye armed you euery man to the warre, and were ready to goe vp into the mountaine.
Então respondestes e me dissestes: Pecado temos contra o SENHOR; nós subiremos e lutaremos, conforme tudo o que o SENHOR nosso Deus nos mandou. E vos armastes cada um de suas armas de guerra, e vos preparastes para subir ao monte.
42 But the Lord said vnto me, Say vnto them, Goe not vp, neither fight, (for I am not among you) least ye fall before your enemies.
E o SENHOR me disse: Dize-lhes: Não subais, nem luteis, pois não estou entre vós; para que não sejais feridos diante de vossos inimigos.
43 And when I told you, ye would not heare, but rebelled against the commandement of the Lord, and were presumptuous, and went vp into the mountaine.
E vos falei, e não destes ouvido; antes fostes rebeldes ao dito do SENHOR, e persistindo com altivez, subistes ao monte.
44 Then the Amorites which dwelt in that mountaine came out against you, and chased you (as bees vse to doe) and destroied you in Seir, euen vnto Hormah.
E saíram os amorreus, que habitavam naquele monte, a vosso encontro, e vos perseguiram, como fazem as vespas, e vos derrotaram em Seir, perseguindo-vos até Hormá.
45 And when ye came againe, ye wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not heare your voyce, nor incline his eares vnto you.
E voltastes, e chorastes diante do SENHOR; mas o SENHOR não escutou vossa voz, nem vos prestou ouvido.
46 So ye abode in Kadesh a long time, according to the time that ye had remained before.
E estivestes em Cades por muitos dias, como nos dias que estivestes.
