Deuteronomy 7
1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possesse it, and shall roote out many nations before thee: the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hiuites, and the Iebusites, seuen nations greater and mightier then thou,
Wenn dich der HERR, dein Gott, ins Land bringet, darein du kommen wirst, dasselbe einzunehmen, und ausrottet viele Völker vor dir her: die Hethiter, Girgositer, Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Pheresiter, Heviter und Jebusiter, sieben Völker, die größer und stärker sind denn du;
2 And the Lord thy God shall giue them before thee, then thou shalt smite them: thou shalt vtterly destroy them: thou shalt make no couenant with them, nor haue compassion on them,
und wenn sie der HERR, dein Gott, vor dir gibt, daß du sie schlägst: so sollst du sie verbannen, daß du keinen Bund mit ihnen machest noch ihnen Gunst erzeigest.
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them, neither giue thy daughter vnto his sonne, nor take his daughter vnto thy sonne.
Und sollst dich mit ihnen nicht befreunden. Eure Töchter sollt ihr nicht geben ihren Söhnen, und ihre Töchter sollt ihr nicht nehmen euren Söhnen;
4 For they wil cause thy sonne to turne away from me, and to serue other gods: then will the wrath of the Lord waxe hote against you and destroy thee suddenly.
denn sie werden eure Söhne mir abfällig machen, daß sie andern Göttern dienen; so wird dann des HERRN Zorn ergrimmen über euch und euch bald vertilgen.
5 But thus ye shall deale with them, Ye shall ouerthrowe their altars, and breake downe their pillars, and ye shall cut downe their groues, and burne their grauen images with fire.
Sondern also sollt ihr mit ihnen tun: Ihre Altäre sollt ihr zerreißen, ihre Säulen zerbrechen, ihre Haine abhauen und ihre Götzen mit Feuer verbrennen.
6 For thou art an holy people vnto the Lord thy God, the Lord thy God hath chosen thee, to be a precious people vnto himselfe, aboue all people that are vpon the earth.
Denn du bist ein heilig Volk Gott, deinem HERRN. Dich hat Gott, dein HERR, erwählet zum Volk des Eigentums aus allen Völkern, die auf Erden sind.
7 The Lord did not set his loue vpon you, nor chose you, because ye were more in number then any people: for ye were the fewest of all people:
Nicht hat euch der HERR angenommen und euch erwählet, daß euer mehr wäre denn alle Völker; denn du bist das wenigste unter allen Völkern;
8 But because the Lord loued you, and because hee would keepe the othe which hee had sworne vnto your fathers, the Lord hath brought you out by a mightie hand, and deliuered you out of the house of bondage from the hand of Pharaoh King of Egypt,
sondern daß er euch geliebet hat, und daß er seinen Eid hielte, den er euren Vätern geschworen hat, hat er euch ausgeführet mit mächtiger Hand und hat dich erlöset von dem Hause des Dienstes, aus der Hand Pharaos, des Königs in Ägypten.
9 That thou mayest knowe, that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithfull God which keepeth couenant and mercie vnto them that loue him and keepe his commandements, euen to a thousand generations,
So sollst du nun wissen, daß der HERR, dein Gott, ein Gott ist, ein treuer Gott, der den Bund und Barmherzigkeit hält denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten, in tausend Glied,
10 And rewardeth them to their face that hate him, to bring them to destruction: he wil not deferre to reward him that hateth him, to his face.
und vergilt denen, die ihn hassen, vor seinem Angesicht, daß er sie umbringe, und säumet sich nicht, daß er denen vergelte vor seinem Angesicht, die ihn hassen.
11 Keepe thou therefore the commandements, and the ordinances, and the lawes, which I commaund thee this day to doe them.
So behalte nun die Gebote und Gesetze und Rechte, die ich dir heute gebiete, daß du danach tust.
12 For if ye hearken vnto these lawes, and obserue and doe them, then the Lord thy God shall keepe with thee the couenant, and the mercie which he sware vnto thy fathers.
Und wenn ihr diese Rechte höret und haltet sie und danach tut, so wird der HERR, dein Gott, auch halten den Bund und Barmherzigkeit, die er deinen Vätern geschworen hat,
13 And he wil loue thee, and blesse thee, and multiplie thee: he will also blesse the fruite of thy wombe, and the fruite of thy land, thy corne and thy wine, and thine oyle and the increase of thy kine, and the flockes of thy sheepe in the land, which he sware vnto thy fathers to giue thee.
und wird dich lieben und segnen und mehren und wird die Frucht deines Leibes segnen und die Frucht deines Landes, dein Getreide, Most und Öl, die Früchte deiner Kühe und die Früchte deiner Schafe auf dem Lande, das er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, dir zu geben.
14 Thou shalt be blessed aboue all people: there shall be neither male nor female barren among you, nor among your cattell.
Gesegnet wirst du sein über alle Völker. Es wird niemand unter dir unfruchtbar sein, noch unter deinem Vieh.
15 Moreouer, the Lord will take away from thee all infirmities, and will put none of the euill diseases of Egypt (which thou knowest) vpon thee, but wil send them vpon all that hate thee.
Der HERR wird von dir tun alle Krankheit und wird keine böse Seuche der Ägypter dir auflegen, die du erfahren hast; und wird sie allen deinen Hassern auflegen.
16 Thou shalt therefore consume all people which the Lord thy God shall giue thee: thine eye shall not spare them, neither shalt thou serue their gods, for that shalbe thy destruction.
Du wirst alle Völker fressen, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir geben wird. Du sollst ihrer nicht schonen und ihren Göttern nicht dienen; denn das würde dir ein Strick sein.
17 If thou say in thine heart, These nations are moe then I, how can I cast them out?
Wirst du aber in deinem Herzen sagen: Dieses Volks ist mehr, denn ich bin; wie kann ich sie vertreiben?
18 Thou shalt not feare them, but remember what the Lord thy God did vnto Pharaoh, and vnto all Egypt:
so fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen. Gedenke, was der HERR, dein Gott, Pharao und allen Ägyptern getan hat
19 The great tentations which thine eyes sawe, and the signes and wonders, and the mighty hand and stretched out arme, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do vnto all ye people, whose face thou fearest.
durch große Versuchung, die du mit Augen gesehen hast, und durch Zeichen und Wunder, durch eine mächtige Hand und ausgereckten Arm, damit dich der HERR, dein Gott, ausführete. Also wird der HERR, dein Gott, allen Völkern tun, vor denen du dich fürchtest.
20 Moreouer, the Lord thy God will send hornets among them vntil they that are left, and hide themselues from thee, be destroyed.
Dazu wird der HERR, dein Gott, Hornissen unter sie senden, bis umgebracht werde, was übrig ist und sich verbirget vor dir.
21 Thou shalt not feare them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a God mightie and dreadful.
Laß dir nicht grauen vor ihnen; denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist unter dir, der große und schreckliche Gott.
22 And the Lord thy God wil roote out these nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, least the beasts of the fielde increase vpon thee.
Er, der HERR, dein Gott, wird diese Leute ausrotten vor dir, einzeln nacheinander. Du kannst sie nicht eilend vertilgen, auf daß sich nicht wider dich mehren die Tiere auf dem Felde.
23 But the Lord thy God shall giue them before thee, and shall destroy them with a mightie destruction, vntill they be brought to naught.
Der HERR, dein Gott, wird sie vor dir geben und wird sie mit großer Schlacht erschlagen, bis er sie vertilge.
24 And he shall deliuer their Kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from vnder heauen: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, vntill thou hast destroyed them.
Und wird dir ihre Könige in deine Hände geben, und sollst ihren Namen umbringen unter dem Himmel. Es wird dir niemand widerstehen, bis du sie vertilgest.
25 The grauen images of their gods shall ye burne with fire, and couet not the siluer and golde, that is on them, nor take it vnto thee, least thou be snared therewith: for it is an abomination before the Lord thy God.
Die Bilder ihrer Götter sollst du mit Feuer verbrennen und sollst nicht begehren des Silbers oder Goldes, das dran ist, oder zu dir nehmen, daß du dich nicht drinnen verfähest; denn solches ist dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein Greuel.
26 Bring not therefore abomination into thine house, lest, thou be accursed like it, but vtterly abhorre it, and count it most abominable: for it is accursed.
Darum sollst du nicht in dein Haus den Greuel bringen, daß du nicht verbannet werdest, wie dasselbe ist, sondern du sollst einen Ekel und Greuel daran haben, denn es ist verbannet.
