Deuteronomy 2
1 Then we turned, and tooke our iourney into the wildernes, by the way of the red Sea, as the Lord spake vnto me: and we compassed mount Seir a long time.
Depois viramo-nos, e caminhamos ao deserto, caminho do Mar Vermelho, como o Senhor me tinha dito, e muitos dias rodeamos a montanha de Seir.
2 And the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
Então o Senhor me falou, dizendo:
3 Ye haue compassed this mountaine long ynough: turne you Northward.
Assás tendes rodeado esta montanha: virai-vos para o norte.
4 And warne thou the people, saying, Ye shall go through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraide of you: take ye good heede therefore.
E dá ordem ao povo, dizendo: Passareis pelos termos de vossos irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir: e eles terão medo de vós; porém guardai-vos bem,
5 Ye shall not prouoke them: for I wil not giue you of their land so much as a foot breadth, because I haue giuen mount Seir vnto Esau for a possession.
Não vos entremetais com eles, porque vos não darei da sua terra nem ainda a pisada da planta de um pé: porquanto a Esaú tenho dado a montanha de Seir por herança.
6 Ye shall buy meate of them for money to eate, and ye shall also procure water of them for money to drinke.
Comprareis deles, por dinheiro, comida para comerdes: e também água para beber deles comprareis por dinheiro.
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the workes of thine hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wildernes, and the Lord thy God hath bene with thee this fourtie yeere, and thou hast lacked nothing.
Pois o Senhor teu Deus te abençoou em toda a obra das tuas mãos; ele sabe que andas por este grande deserto: estes quarenta anos o Senhor teu Deus esteve contigo, coisa nenhuma te faltou.
8 And when we were departed from our brethren the children of Esau which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plaine, from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and went by the way of the wildernes of Moab.
Passando pois de nossos irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, desde o caminho da planície de Elath e de Ezeon-geber, nos viramos e passamos o caminho do deserto de Moab.
9 Then the Lord sayd vnto me, Thou shalt not vexe Moab, neither prouoke them to battel: for I wil not giue thee of their land for a possession, because I haue giuen Ar vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
Então o Senhor me disse: Não molestes a Moab, e não contendas com eles em peleja, porque te não darei herança da sua terra; porquanto tenho dado a Ar aos filhos de Lot por herança.
10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great and many, and tall, as the Anakims.
(Os emeos de antes habitaram nela: um povo grande e numeroso, e alto como os gigantes;
11 They also were taken for gyants as the Anakims: whom the Moabites call Emims.
Também estes foram contados por gigantes como os enaquins: e os moabitas os chamavam emeos.
12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir before time, whome the children of Esau chased out and destroyed them before them, and dwelt in their steade: as Israel shall doe vnto the land of his possession, which the Lord hath giuen them.
De antes os horeus também habitaram em Seir: porém os filhos de Esaú os lançaram fora, e os destruiram de diante de si, e habitaram no seu lugar, assim como Israel fez à terra da sua herança, que o Senhor lhes tinha dado.
13 Now rise vp, sayd I, and get you ouer the riuer Zered: and we went ouer the riuer Zered.
Levantai-vos agora, e passai o ribeiro de Zered: assim passamos o ribeiro de Zered.
14 The space also wherein we came from Kadesh-barnea, vntill we were come ouer the riuer Zered, was eight and thirtie yeeres, vntill all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from among the hoste, as the Lord sware vnto them.
E os dias que caminhamos, desde Cades-barnea até que passamos o ribeiro de Zered, foram trinta e oito anos, até que toda aquela geração dos homens de guerra se consumiu do meio do arraial, como o Senhor lhes jurara.
15 For in deede the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the hoste, till they were consumed.
Assim também foi contra eles a mão do Senhor, para os destruir do meio do arraial até os haver consumido.
16 So when all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people:
E sucedeu que, sendo já consumidos todos os homens de guerra, pela morte, do meio do arraial.
17 Then the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
O Senhor me falou, dizendo:
18 Thou shalt goe through Ar the coast of Moab this day:
Hoje passarás a Ar, pelos termos de Moab;
19 And thou shalt come neere ouer against the children of Ammon: but shalt not lay siege vnto them, nor moue warre against them: for I will not giue thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession: for I haue giuen it vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
E te chegarás até defronte dos filhos de Ammon: não os molestes, e com eles não contendas: porque da terra dos filhos de Ammon te não darei herança, porquanto aos filhos de Lot a tenho dado por herança.
20 That also was taken for a land of gyants: for gyants dwelt therein afore time, whome the Ammonites called Zamzummims:
(também esta foi contada por terra de gigantes; de antes nela habitavam gigantes, e os ammonitas os chamavam zamzummeus:
21 A people that was great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims: but the Lord destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them in their inheritance, and dwelt in their stead:
Um povo grande, e numeroso, e alto, como os gigantes: e o Senhor os destruiu de diante de si, e eles os lançaram fora, e habitaram no seu lugar;
22 As he did to the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims before them, and they possessed them, and dwelt in their stead vnto this day.
Assim como fez com os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, de diante dos quais destruiu os horeus, e eles os lançaram fora, e habitaram no seu lugar até este dia
23 And the Auims which dwelt in Hazarim euen vnto Azzah, the Caphtorims which came out of Caphtor destroyed them, and dwelt in their steade.
Também os caftoreus, que sairam de Caftor, destruiram os aveus, que habitavam em Kazerim até Gaza, e habitaram no seu lugar).
24 Rise vp therefore, sayd the Lord: take your iourney, and passe ouer the riuer Arnon: beholde, I haue giuen into thy hand Sihon, the Amorite, King of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possesse it and prouoke him to battell.
Levantai-vos, parti e passai o ribeiro de Arnon; eis aqui na tua mão tenho dado a Sehon, amorreu, rei de Hesbon, e a sua terra; começa a possui-la, e contende com eles em peleja.
25 This day wil I begin to send thy feare and thy dread, vpon all people vnder the whole heauen, which shall heare thy fame, and shall tremble and quake before thee.
Neste dia começarei a pôr um terror e um temor de ti diante dos povos que estão debaixo de todo o céu: os que ouvirem a tua fama tremerão diante de ti e se angustiarão.
26 Then I sent messengers out of the wildernes of Kedemoth vnto Sihon King of Heshbon, with wordes of peace, saying,
Então mandei mensageiros desde o deserto de Quedemoth a Sehon, rei de Hesbon, com palavras de paz, dizendo:
27 Let me passe through thy land: I will go by the hie way: I will neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left.
Deixa-me passar pela tua terra: somente pela estrada irei; não me desviarei para a direita nem para a esquerda.
28 Thou shalt sell me meate for money, for to eate, and shalt giue me water for money for to drinke: onely I will go through on my foote,
A comida que eu coma vender-ma-ás por dinheiro, e dar-me-ás por dinheiro a água que beba: tão somente deixa-me passar a pé;
29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did vnto me) vntill I be come ouer Iorden, into the land which the Lord our God giueth vs.
Como fizeram comigo os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir, e os moabitas que habitam em Ar: até que eu passe o Jordão, a terra que o Senhor nosso Deus nos há de dar.
30 But Sihon the King of Heshbon would not let vs passe by him: for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, because hee would deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.
Mas Sehon, rei de Hesbon, não nos quis deixar passar por si, porquanto o Senhor teu Deus endurecera o seu espírito, e fizera obstinado o seu coração, por to dar na tua mão, como neste dia se vê.
31 And the Lord sayd vnto me, Beholde, I haue begun to giue Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possesse and inherite his land.
E o Senhor me disse: eis aqui, tenho começado a dar-te Sehon, e a sua terra diante de ti: começa pois a possui-la, para que herdes a sua terra.
32 Then came out Sihon to meete vs, him selfe with all his people to fight at Iahaz.
E Sehon saiu-nos ao encontro, ele e todo o seu povo, à peleja, a Jahaz:
33 But the Lord our God deliuered him into our power, and we smote him, and his sonnes, and all his people.
E o Senhor nosso Deus no-lo deu diante de nós, e o ferimos a ele, e a seus filhos, e a todo o seu povo.
34 And we tooke all his cities the same time, and destroyed euery citie, men, and women, and children: we let nothing remaine.
E naquele tempo tomamos todas as suas cidades, e destruímos todas as cidades, homens, e mulheres e crianças: não deixamos a ninguém.
35 Onely the cattell we tooke to our selues, and the spoyle of the cities which we tooke,
Somente tomamos em presa o gado para nós, e o despojo das cidades que tinhamos tomado.
36 From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer of Arnon, and from the citie that is vpon the riuer, euen vnto Gilead: there was not one citie that escaped vs: for the Lord our God deliuered vp all before vs.
Desde Aroer, que está à borda do ribeiro de Arnon, e a cidade que está junto ao ribeiro, até Gilead, nenhuma cidade houve que de nós escapasse: tudo isto o Senhor nosso Deus nos entregou diante de nós.
37 Onely vnto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor vnto any place of the riuer Iabbok, nor vnto the cities in the mountaines, nor vnto whatsoeuer the Lord our God forbade vs.
Somente à terra dos filhos de Ammon não chegaste: nem a toda a borda do ribeiro de Jabbok, nem às cidades da montanha, nem a coisa alguma que nos proibira o Senhor nosso Deus.
