Deuteronomy 18
1 The Priests of the Leuites, and all the tribe of Leui shall haue no part nor inheritace with Israel, but shall eate the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and his inheritance.
Den levitischen Priestern, dem ganzen Stamme Levi, soll kein Landanteil noch Erbbesitz zufallen, wie dem übrigen Israel; von den Feueropfern Jahwes und von dem, was ihm zu eigen gehört, sollen sie sich ernähren.
2 Therefore shall they haue no inheritance among their brethren: for the Lord is their inheritance, as he hath sayd vnto them.
Erbbesitz aber soll er nicht haben inmitten seiner Volksgenossen; Jahwe ist sein Erbbesitz, wie er ihm verheißen hat.
3 And this shalbe the Priests duetie of the people, that they, which offer sacrifice, whether it be bullocke or sheepe, shall giue vnto the Priest the shoulder, and the two cheekes, and the mawe.
Und dies ist das Recht, das die Priester gegenüber dem Volke, gegenüber denen haben sollen, welche ein Opfer, sei es ein Rind oder ein Schaf, schlachten: Man hat davon dem Priester das Vorderbein, die beiden Kinnbacken und den Magen zu geben.
4 The first fruites also of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the first of the fleece of thy sheepe shalt thou giue him.
Das Vorzüglichste von deinem Getreide, Most und Öl, sowie das Vorzüglichste von der Schur deiner Schafe hast du ihm zu geben.
5 For the Lord thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stande and minister in the Name of the Lord, him, and his sonnes for euer.
Denn ihn hat Jahwe, dein Gott, aus allen deinen Stämmen erwählt, daß er und seine Söhne allezeit im Namen Jahwes priesterlichen Dienst thun.
6 Also when a Leuite shall come out of any of thy cities of all Israel, where hee remained, and come with all the desire of his heart vnto the place, which the Lord shall chuse,
Wenn nun ein Levit aus irgend einer deiner Ortschaften in ganz Israel, woselbst er sich als Fremdling aufhält, an die Stätte kommt, die Jahwe erwählt hat, - und er kann ganz nach seinem Belieben kommen! -
7 He shall then minister in the Name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Leuites, which remaine there before the Lord.
so darf er im Namen Jahwes, seines Gottes, priesterlichen Dienst thun, so gut wie alle seine Brüder, die Leviten, die dort im Dienste Jahwes stehen.
8 They shall haue like portions to eat beside that which commeth of his sale of his patrimonie.
Zu gleichen Teilen sollen sie die dortigen Einkünfte genießen, abgesehen von dem, was einer aus dem Verkauf väterlichen Vermögens löst.
9 When thou shalt come into ye land which the Lord thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not learne to do after ye abominations of those nations.
Wenn du in das Land hineinkommst, das dir Jahwe, dein Gott, giebt, sollst du die Greuel jener Völker nicht nachahmen lernen.
10 Let none be founde among you that maketh his sonne or his daughter to goe thorough the fire, or that vseth witchcraft, or a regarder of times, or a marker of the flying of foules, or a sorcerer,
Es soll sich unter dir niemand finden, der seinen Sohn oder seine Tochter durchs Feuer gehen läßt, niemand, der Wahrsagerei oder Zeichendeuterei oder geheime Künste oder Zauberei treibt,
11 Or a charmer, or that counselleth with spirits, or a soothsaier, or that asketh counsel at ye dead.
auch niemand, der Bannungen vornimmt oder einen Totenbeschwörer- oder Wahrsagegeist befragt oder sich an die Toten wendet.
12 For all that doe such things are abomination vnto the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doeth cast them out before thee.
Denn ein jeder, der solches treibt, ist Jahwe ein Greuel, und um dieser Greuel willen rottet sie Jahwe, dein Gott, vor dir aus.
13 Thou shalt be vpright therefore with the Lord thy God.
Du sollst dich ganz und gar, nur an Jahwe, deinen Gott, halten.
14 For these nations which thou shalt possesse, hearken vnto those that regarde the times, and vnto sorcerers: as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffred thee so.
Denn diese Völker, die du vertreibst, hören auf Zeichendeuter und Wahrsager; dir aber gestattet Jahwe, dein Gott, derartiges nicht.
15 The Lord thy God will raise vp vnto thee a Prophet like vnto me, from among you, euen of thy brethren: vnto him ye shall hearken,
Einen Propheten wird dir je und je Jahwe, dein Gott, aus deiner Mitte, aus deinen Volksgenossen, erstehen lassen, wie ich einer bin; auf den sollt ihr hören.
16 According to al that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, in the day of the assemblie, when thou saidest, Let me heare the voice of my Lord God no more, nor see this great fire any more, that I die not.
So wird ganz in Erfüllung gehen, was du von Jahwe, deinem Gott, am Tage der Versammlung am Horeb erbeten hast, als du sprachst: Ich möchte die Stimme Jahwes, meines Gottes, nicht weiter hören und dieses große Feuer nicht mehr sehen, damit ich nicht sterbe!
17 And the Lord sayde vnto me, They haue well spoken.
Damals sagte mir Jahwe: Sie haben recht mit ihrem Wunsche!
18 I will raise them vp a Prophet from among their brethren like vnto thee, and will put my woordes in his mouth, and he shall speake vnto them all that I shall commaund him.
Einen Propheten will ich ihnen je und je aus der Zahl ihrer Volksgenossen erstehen lassen, wie du einer bist. Dem will ich meine Worte in den Mund legen, und er soll ihnen alles verkündigen, was ich ihm auftragen werde.
19 And whosoeuer will not hearken vnto my wordes, which he shall speake in my Name, I will require it of him.
Und wenn jemand nicht auf meine Worte, die er in meinem Namen verkünden wird, hören sollte, den werde ich zur Rechenschaft ziehen.
20 But the prophet that shall presume to speake a worde in my name, which I haue not commanded him to speake, or that speaketh in the name of other gods, euen the same prophet shall die.
Aber der Prophet, der sich vermessen sollte, in meinem Namen etwas zu verkünden, dessen Verkündigung ich ihm nicht aufgetragen habe, oder der im Namen anderer Götter reden sollte, - ein solcher Prophet muß sterben!
21 And if thou thinke in thine heart, Howe shall we knowe the worde which the Lord hath not spoken?
Und falls du bei dir denken solltest: Wie sollen wir erkennen, daß Jahwe etwas nicht geredet hat?
22 When a prophet speaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing follow not nor come to passe, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not therefore be afraid of him.
so wisse: Wenn ein Prophet im Namen Jahwes redet, und der Spruch sich nicht erfüllt und nicht eintrifft, so ist das ein solches Wort, das Jahwe nicht gesprochen hat. In Vermessenheit hat es der Prophet gesprochen; du brauchst dich nicht davor zu fürchten!
