Daniel 4
1 Nebuchad-nezzar King vnto all people, nations and languages, that dwell in all the world, Peace be multiplied vnto you:
O rei Nabucodonosor, a todos os povos, nações, e línguas, que moram em toda a terra: paz vos seja multiplicada;
2 I thought it good to declare the signes and wonders, that the hie God hath wrought toward me.
Pareceu-me bem fazer conhecidos os sinais e maravilhas que o Deus altíssimo fez comigo.
3 How great are his signes, and how mightie are his wonders! his kingdome is an euerlasting kingdome, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
Como são grandes os seus sinais, e como são poderosas as suas maravilhas! O reino dele é um reino eterno, e seu domínio de geração em geração.
4 I Nebuchad-nezzar being at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace,
Eu, Nabucodonosor, estava tranquilo em minha casa, e próspero em meu palácio.
5 Saw a dreame, which made me afraide, and the thoughtes vpon my bed, and the visions of mine head troubled me.
Eu vi um sonho que me espantou; e as imaginações em minha cama e as visões da minha cabeça me perturbaram.
6 Therefore made I a decree, that they should bring all the wise men of Babel before mee, that they might declare vnto me the interpretation of the dreame.
Por isso eu fiz um decreto para que trouxessem diante de mim todos os sábios da Babilônia, para que me fizessem saber a interpretação do sonho.
7 So came the inchanters, the astrologians, the Caldeans and the sothsayers, to whom I tolde the dreame, but they could not shew me the interpretation thereof,
Então vieram magos, astrólogos, caldeus, e adivinhos; e eu disse o sonho diante deles, mas não conseguiram me mostrar sua interpretação.
8 Till at the last Daniel came before mee, (whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, which hath the spirite of the holy gods in him) and before him I tolde the dreame, saying,
Porém por fim veio diante de mim Daniel, cujo nome é Beltessazar, segundo o nome de meu deus; e em [Daniel] há o espírito dos deuses santos. Então eu disse o sonho diante dele:
9 O Belteshazzar, chiefe of the enchanters, because I know, that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell mee the visions of my dreame, that I haue seene and the interpretation thereof.
Beltessazar, príncipe dos magos, de quem eu sei que há em ti espírito dos deuses santos, e que nenhum mistério é difícil para ti, dize-me as visões de meu sonho que eu vi, e sua interpretação.
10 Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed. And beholde, I sawe a tree in the middes of the earth and the height thereof was great:
Estas foram as visões de minha cabeça em minha cama: eu estava vendo, e eis uma árvore grande em altura, no meio da terra.
11 A great tree and strong, and the height thereof reached vnto heauen, and the sight thereof to the endes of all the earth.
Esta árvore crescia, e se fortalecia; sua altura chegava até o céu, e podia ser vista até dos confins de toda a terra.
12 The boughes thereof were faire and the fruite thereof much, and in it was meate for all: it made a shadow vnder it for the beastes of the fielde, and the foules of the heauen dwelt in the boughes thereof, and all flesh fedde of it.
Sua folhagem era bela, seu fruto abundante, e havia nela alimento para todos. Debaixo dela os animais do campo achavam sombra, em seus ramos as aves do céu faziam morada, e todos os seres se alimentavam dela.
13 I sawe in the visions of mine head vpon my bed, and beholde, a watchman and an holy one came downe from heauen,
Eu estava vendo nas visões de minha cabeça em minha cama, e eis que um vigilante e santo descia do céu.
14 And cried aloude, and said thus, Hew downe the tree, and breake off his branches: shake off his leaues, and scatter his fruite, that the beastes may flee from vnder it, and the foules from his branches.
Ele gritava fortemente e dizia assim: Cortai a árvore, e podai seus ramos; derrubai sua folhagem, e dispersai seu fruto; fujam os animais debaixo dela, e as aves de seus ramos.
15 Neuerthelesse leaue the stumpe of his rootes in the earth, and with a band of yron and brasse binde it among the grasse of the fielde, and let it be wet with the dewe of heauen, and let his portion be with the beastes among the grasse of the fielde.
Porém deixai o tronco [com] suas raízes na terra, e com correntes de ferro e de bronze na erva do campo; e seja molhado com o orvalho do céu, e sua parte seja com os animais na grama da terra.
16 Let his heart be changed from mans nature, and let a beasts heart be giuen vnto him, and let seuen times be passed ouer him.
Seu coração seja mudado, para que não seja coração de homem, e seja-lhe dado um coração de animal; e passem sobre ele sete tempos.
17 The sentence is according to the decree of the watchmen, and according to the word of the holy ones: the demaunde was answered, to the intent that liuing men may knowe, that the most High hath power ouer the kingdome of men, and giueth it to whomsoeuer he will, and appointeth ouer it the most abiect among men.
Esta sentença é por decreto dos vigilantes, esta exigência pela palavra dos santos; para que os viventes saibam que o Altíssimo tem o domínio dos reinos humanos, e ele os dá a quem ele quer, e constitui sobre eles até o mais inferior dos seres humanos.
18 This is the dreame, that I King Nebuchad-nezzar haue seene: therefore thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof: for all the wisemen of my kingdome are not able to shewe mee the interpretation: but thou art able, for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
Este foi o sonho que eu, o rei Nabucodonosor, vi. Tu, pois, Beltessazar, dize a interpretação, porque todos os sábios do meu reino não puderam me revelar sua interpretação; mas tu podes, porque há em ti o espírito dos deuses santos.
19 Then Daniel (whose name was Belteshazzar) held his peace by the space of one houre, and his thoughts troubled him, and the King spake and said, Belteshazzar, let neither the dreame, nor the interpretation thereof trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and saide, My lord, the dreame be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
Então Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, ficou atônito por um certo tempo, e seus pensamentos o espantavam. O rei falou: Beltessazar, não fiques espantado com o sonho nem com sua interpretação. Beltessazar respondeu: Meu senhor, que o sonho seja para os que te odeiam, e sua interpretação para teus inimigos.
20 The tree that thou sawest, which was great and mightie, whose height reached vnto the heauen, and the sight thereof through all the world,
A árvore que viste, que crescera e se fizera forte, cuja altura chegava até o céu, e podia ser vista por toda a terra,
21 Whose leaues were faire and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meate for all, vnder the which the beastes of the fielde dwelt, and vpon whose branches the foules of the heauen did sit,
Cuja folhagem era formosa, seu fruto abundante, e em que havia alimento para todos; debaixo da qual moravam os animais do campo, e em seus ramos habitavam as aves do céu,
22 It is thou, O King, that art great and mightie: for thy greatnesse is growen, and reacheth vnto heauen, and thy dominion to the endes of the earth.
Ela és tu, ó rei, que cresceste, e te fizeste forte; pois tua grandeza cresceu, e chegou até o céu; e teu domínio até o fim da terra.
23 Where as the King sawe a watchman, and an holy one, that came downe from heauen, and said, Hew downe the tree and destroy it, yet leaue the stumpe of the rootes thereof in the earth, and with a bande of yron and brasse binde it among the grasse of the fielde, and let it be wette with the dewe of heauen, and let his portion be with the beastes of the fielde, till seuen times passe ouer him,
E quanto ao que o rei viu, um vigilante e santo que descia do céu, e dizia: Cortai a árvore e destruí-a; mas o tronco [com] suas raízes deixai na terra, com correntes de ferro e de bronze na erva do campo; e seja molhado do orvalho do céu, e sua parte seja com os animais do campo, até que passem sobre ele sete tempos,
24 This is the interpretation, O King, and it is the decree of the most High, which is come vpon my lord the King,
Esta é a interpretação, ó rei; esta é a sentença do Altíssimo, que virá sobre o rei, meu senhor:
25 That they shall driue thee from men, and thy dwelling shalbe with the beasts of the fielde: they shall make thee to eate grasse as the oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dewe of heauen: and seuen times shall passe ouer thee, till thou knowe, that the most High beareth rule ouer the kingdome of men, and giueth it to whom so euer he will.
Expulsar-te-ão dentre os homens, e tua morada será com os animais do campo; serás alimentado com erva como aos bois, e serás molhado com orvalho do céu; e sete tempos passarão sobre ti, até que entendas que o Altíssimo tem o domínio sobre os reinos humanos, e ele os dá a quem ele quer.
26 Where as they sayd, that one should leaue the stumpe of the tree rootes, thy kingdome shall remaine vnto thee: after that, thou shalt knowe, that the heauens haue the rule.
E quanto ao que foi dito, que deixassem o tronco [com] das raízes da árvore, significa que teu reino se te será restabelecido, depois que tiveres entendido que o céu reina.
27 Wherefore, O King, let my counsell be acceptable vnto thee, and breake off thy sinnes by righteousnes, and thine iniquities by mercy toward the poore: lo, let there be an healing of thine errour.
Portanto, ó rei, aceita meu conselho, e desfaze teus pecados por meio da justiça, e tuas maldades por meio da misericórdia para com os pobres; para que talvez haja uma prolongamento de tua paz.
28 All these things shall come vpon the King Nebuchad-nezzar.
Tudo isso veio sobre o rei Nabucodonosor;
29 At the end of twelue moneths, he walked in the royall palace of Babel.
[Pois] ao fim de doze meses, enquanto passeava sobre o palácio real da Babilônia,
30 And the King spake and sayde, Is not this great Babel, that I haue built for the house of the kingdome by the might of my power, and for the honour of my maiestie?
O rei falou: Não é esta a grande Babilônia, que eu edifiquei para ser a capital do reino, com a força de meu poder, e para a glória de minha majestade?
31 While the worde was in the Kings mouth, a voyce came downe from heauen, saying, O King Nebuchad-nezzar, to thee be it spoken, Thy kingdome is departed from thee,
Enquanto a palavra ainda estava na boca do rei, uma voz caiu do céu: A ti se diz, ó rei Nabucodonosor: perdeste o teu reino,
32 And they shall driue thee from men, and thy dwelling shalbe with the beastes of the fielde: they shall make thee to eate grasse, as the oxen, and seuen times shall passe ouer thee, vntill thou knowest, that the most High beareth rule ouer the kingdome of men, and giueth it vnto whomsoeuer he will.
E te expulsarão dentre os homens. Tua morada será com os animais do campo, e com erva serás alimentado, como os bois; e sete tempos passarão sobre ti, até que entendas que o Altíssimo tem o domínio dos reinos dos homens, e ele os dá a quem ele quer.
33 The very same houre was this thing fulfilled vpon Nebuchad-nezzar, and hee was driuen from men, and did eate grasse as the oxen, and his body was wet with the dewe of heauen, till his heares were growen as eagles feathers, and his nailes like birds clawes.
Na mesma hora a palavra se cumpriu sobre Nabucodonosor, e foi lançado dentre os homens. Ele passou a comer erva como os bois, e seu corpo foi molhado com o orvalho do céu, até que seu pelo cresceu como [as penas] da águia, e suas unhas como [as garras] das aves.
34 And at the ende of these dayes I Nebuchad-nezzar lift vp mine eyes vnto heauen, and mine vnderstanding was restored vnto me, and I gaue thankes vnto the most High, and I praysed and honoured him that liueth for euer, whose power is an euerlasting power, and his kingdome is from generation to generation.
Mas ao fim daqueles dias, eu, Nabucodonosor levantei meus olhos ao céu, e meu entendimento voltou a mim; então eu bendisse ao Altíssimo, e louvei e glorifiquei ao que vive para sempre, cujo domínio é eterno, e seu reino de geração em geração.
35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and according to his will he worketh in the armie of heauen, and in the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, nor say vnto him, What doest thou?
E todos os moradores da terra são contados como nada; e ele faz no exército do céu, e nos habitantes da terra segundo sua vontade; ninguém há que possa deter sua mão, e lhe dizer: Que fazes?
36 At the same time was mine vnderstanding restored vnto me, and I returned to the honour of my kingdome: my glory and my beautie was restored vnto me, and my counsellours and my princes sought vnto me, and I was established in my kingdome, and my glory was augmented toward me.
No mesmo tempo meu entendimento voltou a mim, e a dignidade do meu reino, minha majestade e meu resplendor voltaram a mim; e meus conselheiros e meus grandes me buscaram; e eu fui restabelecido em meu reino, e maior glória me foi acrescentada.
37 Now therefore I Nebuchad-nezzar prayse and extoll and magnifie the King of heauen, whose workes are all trueth, and his wayes iudgement, and those that walke in pride, he is able to abase.
Agora eu, Nabucodonosor louvo, exalto e glorifico ao Rei do céu, porque todas as suas obras são verdade, e seus caminhos juízo; e ele pode humilhar aos que andam com arrogância.
