Amos 6
1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the moutaine of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
¡Ay de los que viven tranquilos m Sión y confiados en el monte de Samaria, los magnates del primero de los pueblos, a los cuales acude la casa de Israel!
2 Goe you vnto Calneh, and see: and from thence goe you to Hamath the great: then goe downe to Gath of the Philistims: be they better then these kingdomes? or the border of their land greater then your border,
Pasad a Calné, y ved; y de allí id adelante a Hamat la grande; y bajad a Gat de los filisteos. ¿Superan ellas acaso a estos reinos? ¿o es más espacioso su territorio que el vuestro?
3 Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie?
Vosotros queréis alejar el día aciago, y aceleráis el imperio de la violencia.
4 They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall.
Duermen en divanes de marfil y se tienden sobre sus lechos; comen corderos del rebaño, y novillos sacados del establo.
5 They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid.
Cantan a gritos al son de la cítara, e inventan, como David, instrumentos músicos.
6 They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.
Beben vino en copones, y se ungen con el óleo más exquisito, sin compadecerse del quebranto de José.
7 Therefore nowe shall they go captiue with the first that go captiue, and the sorow of them that stretched themselues, is at hand.
Por eso irán ahora al cautiverio, los primeros de los deportados, y desaparecerá la batahola de los banqueteadores.
8 The Lord God hath sworne by himselfe, saith the Lord God of hostes, I abhorre the excellencie of Iaakob, and hate his palaces: therefore wil I deliuer vp the citie with all that is therein.
Yahvé, el Señor ha jurado por sí mismo —oráculo del Dios de los ejércitos—. “Aborrezco la gloria de Jacob, y detesto sus palacios; entregaré la ciudad y cuanto contiene.”
9 And if there remaine ten men in one house, they shall die.
Si quedaren diez hombres en una casa, también ellos morirán.
10 And his vncle shall take him vp and burne him to cary out the bones out of the house, and shall say vnto him, that is by ye sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Holde thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.
Llevará (al muerto) su tío, el cual ha de quemarlo; y sacando de la casa los huesos dirá al que está en el fondo de la casa: “¿Queda algún otro?” Y él responderá: “No hay más.” Y (el primero) replicará: “¡Cállate! porque no hay que mencionar el Nombre de Yahvé.”
11 For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the litle house with clefts.
Pues he aquí que Yahvé da la orden, y herirá la casa grande con hendiduras, y la casa chica con quebraduras.
12 Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.
¿Corren acaso los caballos por las peñas? ¿O se puede arar (allí) con bueyes? Así vosotros trocáis en veneno el juicio, y el fruto de justicia en ajenjo;
13 Ye reioyce in a thing of nought: yee say, Haue not wee gotten vs hornes by our owne strength?
os regocijáis en lo que es nada, diciendo: “¿No nos hemos hecho poderosos con nuestra propia fuerza?”
14 But behold, I wil raise vp against you a nation, O house of Israel, sayeth the Lord God of hostes: and they shall afflict you, from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of the wildernes.
“Mas he aquí que voy a suscitar contra vosotros, una nación, oh casa de Israel —oráculo de Yahvé, Dios de los ejércitos—, (un pueblo) que os oprimirá desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el torrente del Arabá.
