Amos 6
1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the moutaine of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
Wehe über die Sorglosen auf dem Zion und die Sicheren auf dem Berge von Samaria, die den Adel des vornehmsten der Völker bilden, und denen das Reich Israel zuströmt!
2 Goe you vnto Calneh, and see: and from thence goe you to Hamath the great: then goe downe to Gath of the Philistims: be they better then these kingdomes? or the border of their land greater then your border,
Seht nur hinüber nach Kalne und seht euch um, und weiter von da nach der großen Stadt Hamath und steigt nach Gath in Philistäa hinab: Seid ihr besser, als diese Königreiche, oder ist euer Gebiet größer, als ihr Gebiet?
3 Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie?
Sie wähnen den bösen Tag fern und rücken die Herrschaft der Gewaltthat herbei.
4 They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall.
Sie liegen auf Lagern von Elfenbein und räkeln sich auf ihrem Diwan. Sie verzehren fette Lämmer, die von der Herde, und junge Rinder, die aus der Hürde kommen.
5 They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid.
Sie girren zur Harfe, bilden sich ein, wie David zu spielen.
6 They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.
Sie trinken den Wein aus Sprengschalen und versalben das beste Öl - aber um den Schaden Josephs grämen sie sich nicht!
7 Therefore nowe shall they go captiue with the first that go captiue, and the sorow of them that stretched themselues, is at hand.
Darum sollen sie nun an der Spitze der Verbannten in die Verbannung ziehen, und das Gekreische der sich Räkelnden soll ein Ende haben!
8 The Lord God hath sworne by himselfe, saith the Lord God of hostes, I abhorre the excellencie of Iaakob, and hate his palaces: therefore wil I deliuer vp the citie with all that is therein.
Der Herr Jahwe hat bei sich selbst geschworen, ist der Spruch Jahwes, des Gottes der Heerscharen: Ich verabscheue den Hochmut Jakobs, ich hasse seine Burgen und gebe preis die Stadt und was sie füllt.
9 And if there remaine ten men in one house, they shall die.
Wenn dann zehn Leute in einem Hause übrig bleiben, so sollen sie sterben;
10 And his vncle shall take him vp and burne him to cary out the bones out of the house, and shall say vnto him, that is by ye sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Holde thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.
und wenn ihn dann sein Oheim und Bestatter aufnimmt, um den Leichnam aus dem Hause zu schaffen, und zu dem, der im innersten Winkel des Hauses ist, sagt: Ist noch jemand bei dir? und dieser antwortet: Nein! so wird er sagen: Still! Denn der Name Jahwes darf nicht erwähnt werden.
11 For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the litle house with clefts.
Denn fürwahr, Jahwe wird Befehl geben und er wird die großen Häuser in Trümmer schlagen und die kleinen Häuser in Stücke.
12 Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.
Laufen etwa Rosse über Klippen, oder kann man mit Rindern das Meer pflügen, da ihr das Recht in Gift verwandelt habt und die Früchte der Gerechtigkeit in Wermut -
13 Ye reioyce in a thing of nought: yee say, Haue not wee gotten vs hornes by our owne strength?
indem ihr eure Freude an einem Trugbild habt, indem ihr denkt: Aus eigner Kraft sind wir eine Macht geworden!
14 But behold, I wil raise vp against you a nation, O house of Israel, sayeth the Lord God of hostes: and they shall afflict you, from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of the wildernes.
Denn fürwahr, ich lasse wieder euch, ihr Israeliten, ist der Spruch Jahwes, des Gottes der Heerscharen, ein Volk auftreten, das soll euch bedrängen von da, wo es nach Hamath hineingeht, bis zum Steppenbach.
