Acts 11
1 Nowe the Apostles and the brethren that were in Iudea, heard, that the Gentiles had also receiued the worde of God.
Die Apostel und die Brüder in Judäa erfuhren, daß auch die Heiden das Wort Gottes angenommen hätten.
2 And when Peter was come vp to Hierusalem, they of the circumcision contended against him,
Als nun Petrus nach Jerusalem hinaufkam, stritten die aus dem Judentum mit ihm
3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised, and hast eaten with them.
und sagten: "Du bist bei Unbeschnittenen eingekehrt und hast mit ihnen Mahl gehalten."
4 Then Peter beganne, and expounded the thing in order to them, saying,
Petrus aber hob an und setzte ihnen den ganzen Hergang der Reihe nach auseinander. Er sprach:
5 I was in the citie of Ioppa, praying, and in a trance I sawe this vision, A certaine vessell comming downe as it had bene a great sheete, let downe from heauen by the foure corners, and it came to me.
"Ich war in der Stadt Joppe und wollte eben mein Gebet verrichten. Da hatte ich in der Verzückung ein Gesicht: Ein Behältnis wie ein großes Linnentuch kam herab und hing an den vier Enden aus dem Himmel her und kam gerade auf mich zu.
6 Towarde the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and sawe foure footed beastes of the earth, and wilde beastes, and creeping things, and foules of the heauen.
ich sah genau hin und sah die vierfüßigen Tiere der Erde und die wilden Tiere und die Kriechtiere und auch die Vögel des Himmels.
7 Also I heard a voyce, saying vnto me, Arise, Peter: slay and eate.
Auch hörte ich eine Stimme, die mir zurief: 'Petrus, steh auf, schlachte und iß!'
8 And I said, God forbid, Lord: for nothing polluted or vncleane hath at any time entred into my mouth.
Doch ich erwiderte: 'Nein, Herr! Noch nie kam etwas Gemeines oder Unreines in meinen Mund.'
9 But the voyce answered me the seconde time from heauen, The things that God hath purified, pollute thou not.
Jedoch zum zweitenmal sprach die Stimme vom Himmel her: 'Was Gott gereinigt hat, darfst du nicht gemein nennen.'
10 And this was done three times, and all were taken vp againe into heauen.
Und das geschah ein drittes Mal. Dann wurde alles wieder in den Himmel hinaufgezogen.
11 Then behold, immediatly there were three men already come vnto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea vnto me.
Im selben Augenblick standen drei Männer vor dem Hause, in dem wir uns befanden; sie waren zu mir aus Cäsarea hergesandt.
12 And the Spirit saide vnto me, that I should go with them, without doubting: moreouer these sixe brethren came with me, and we entred into the mans house.
Der Geist hieß mich mit ihnen gehen ohne irgendein Bedenken. Und mit mir reisten die sechs Brüder da; so kamen wir in das Haus des Mannes.
13 And he shewed vs, howe he had seene an Angel in his house, which stoode and said to him, Send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
Und er erzählte uns, wie er in seinem Hause den Engel habe stehen sehen, der zu ihm sprach: 'Sende hin nach Joppe und laß den Simon holen, der auch Petrus heißt.
14 He shall speake wordes vnto thee, whereby both thou and all thine house shalbe saued.
Und er wird Worte zu dir sprechen, kraft deren du samt deinem ganzen Hause gerettet werden wirst.'
15 And as I began to speake, the holy Ghost fell on them, euen as vpon vs at the beginning.
Kaum hatte ich zu reden angefangen, da kam der Heilige Geist auf sie herab, wie damals auf uns.
16 Then I remembred the word of the Lord, howe he said, Iohn baptized with water, but ye shalbe baptized with the holy Ghost.
Und da gedachte ich des Herrenwortes, das er einstens sprach: 'Johannes hat nur mit Wasser getauft; ihr aber werdet mit dem Heiligen Geiste getauft werden.'
17 For as much then as God gaue them a like gift, as he did vnto vs, when we beleeued in the Lord Iesus Christ, who was I, that I coulde let God?
Wenn Gott nun ihnen die gleiche Gnade gab wie uns, die wir schon an den Herrn Jesus Christus glaubten, woher hätte ich mir die Macht nehmen sollen, Gott zu hindern?"
18 When they heard these things, they helde their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles graunted repentance vnto life.
Als sie dies gehört hatten, gaben sie sich zufrieden; sie lobten Gott und sprachen: "Also hat Gott auch den Heiden die Sinnesänderung verliehen, die zum Leben führt."
19 And they which were scattered abroade because of the affliction that arose about Steuen, went throughout till they came vnto Phenice and Cyprus, and Antiochia, preaching the worde to no man, but vnto the Iewes onely.
Durch die Verfolgung, die des Stephanus' wegen ausgebrochen war, wurden viele versprengt und kamen bis nach Phönizien, Cypern und Antiochien. Sie verkündigten aber niemand das Wort als allein den Juden.
20 Now some of them were men of Cyprus and of Cyrene, which when they were come into Antiochia, spake vnto the Grecians, and preached the Lord Iesus.
Jedoch einige aus ihnen, Männer aus Cypern und der Cyrenaika, verkündeten, als sie in Antiochien angekommen waren, auch den Heiden die frohe Botschaft vom Herrn Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, so that a great number beleeued and turned vnto the Lord.
Die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen, und eine beträchtliche Anzahl wurde gläubig und bekehrte sich zum Herrn.
22 Then tydings of those things came vnto the eares of the Church, which was in Hierusalem, and they sent foorth Barnabas, that he should goe vnto Antiochia.
Die Kunde davon kam zu den Ohren der Gemeinde in Jerusalem. Man entsandte den Barnabas nach Antiochien.
23 Who when he was come and had seene the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted all, that with purpose of heart they would continue in the Lord.
Als er ankam und die Gnade Gottes sah, freute er sich; er ermahnte alle, so wie sie es sich in ihrem Herzen vorgenommen hätten, beim Herrn zu bleiben.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the holy Ghost, and faith, and much people ioyned them selues vnto the Lord.
War er doch ein trefflicher Mann, voll Heiligen Geistes und Glaubens. Es wurde auch eine große Anzahl für den Herrn hinzugewonnen.
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus to seeke Saul:
Er reiste dann nach Tarsus, um den Saulus aufzusuchen;
26 And when he had founde him, he brought him vnto Antiochia: and it came to passe that a whole yere they were conuersant with ye Church, and taught much people, in so much that the disciples were first called Christians in Antiochia.
er traf ihn und nahm ihn nach Antiochien mit. Dort wirkten sie noch ein ganzes Jahr in der Gemeinde zusammen und unterrichteten eine ansehnliche Menge. In Antiochien nannte man die Jünger zum erstenmal "Christen".
27 In those dayes also came Prophets from Hierusalem vnto Antiochia.
In dieser Zeit kamen von Jerusalem her Propheten nach Antiochien.
28 And there stoode vp one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit, that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which also came to passe vnder Claudius Cesar.
Einer aus ihnen, namens Agabus, stand auf und kündigte durch den Geist an, daß eine große Hungersnot über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen werde. Sie trat dann unter Claudius wirklich ein.
29 Then the disciples, euery man according to his ability, purposed to sende succour vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iudea.
Die Jünger aber faßten den Beschluß, daß ein jeder von ihnen je nach Vermögen den Brüdern in Judäa eine Unterstützung zukommen lassen solle.
30 Which thing they also did, and sent it to the Elders, by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
Dieses taten sie auch und sandten das Geld an die Presbyter durch Barnabas und Saul.
